Hi y'all, Calamity here with a new plot fresh off the press!
Would you like to enter a dark world full of seedy motels, truck stops, strip clubs, bad judgment, and substance abuse? Are you into the American low life? Dark romances? Goodness inexplicably found in the middle of hell?
If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then I invite you to keep reading and buckle your seatbelts, people. This one's a doozy.
Meet Mara. She's finally escaped her shadow of existence as a prostitute, bound into a world of human trafficking, drugs, and violence. How did she do it? Good question. Mara has a strange little ability. A little parlor trick. The touch of death. Yeah, you heard me right.
She has already (mostly sort of accidentally) killed several people with the touch of her hand and decidedly bad intentions. It freed her, or at least it freed her body.
She lives on her own terms now with the money she stole from her now-deceased pimp and the money she brings in stripping (she has a pretty limited skillset). She keeps a nice apartment and buys nice outfits and good food.
It has not yet occurred to her that her touch of death has the potential to be extremely lucrative.
That's where you come in.
I envision her being selected by a headhunter for a mysterious criminal organization. She would make an excellent assassin. Mara is used to going unnoticed, being ignored and pushed to the margins, she hides in plain sight. Even if she did get caught, there is no way to prove that she could be in any way responsible for the death of whoever she just took out.
What I would like to see is a romance between her and her handler as they navigate this fucked-up world together, making cash and taking lives while trying to heal the deep scars etched into them by the seemingly inescapable low life.
That being said, I am open to hearing any other plot ideas you might have if you are interested in my character!
