STORY.
Rupert Bernard Wilkins was born in Mid Glamorgan, Wales. The son of James Wilkins, the wealthy owner of a pub chain called The Jackal's Hide, high expectations were put upon him from the get-go. This was because Rupert was meant to be the eventual heir of his father's business.
As a boy he and his younger sister Maisie attended two separate Catholic schools. Both siblings disliked the strict environment there but were given little choice but to accept it.
During his high school and college years he picked up several different part-time jobs. He'd delivered newspapers and groceries, managed cash registers and even had a brief stint as a telemarketer. It was around this time that Rupert made up his mind about what career path he really wanted to pursue. He didn't want to be a businessman, but a writer of sorts instead.
When his father found out, he reacted with extreme disappointment and they had a falling out. Fed up with what became some years of family drama, Rupert cut his father out of his life and moved to London where he picked up a job as a journalist. And that's when the nightmares began.
Rupert started having frequent, vivid dreams about terrible outcomes brought on by none other than himself. He couldn't ever fully interpret the dreams but they felt incredibly real, like he was actually somehow living them. Haunted by these visions nearly every night and on occasion during the daytime, he began to suffer from insomnia and dizzy spells. Steadily, he's becoming obsessed with figuring out what on Earth is wrong with him and how to handle it.
VISAGE.
Rupert is of average height and is just a tiny bit on the chubby side. He has a roundish face, friendly sea-green eyes, and wavy dark brown hair that hits his shoulders. He dresses well, sort of in a business casual way with light colored buttoned up shirts, darker hued jackets and oxfords. On a good day he'll typically be wearing a pleasant expression upon his face, but sometimes he can go weeks looking troubled and downright exhausted. But even then, he'll try to grin and bear it for the sake of making others worry less about him.
PSYCHE.
Rupert has a laid-back, gentle personality with hints of shy and awkward mixed in. Some might find him charming and while he's perfectly aware of that, you'll never find him boasting about it mostly because he doesn't consider himself to be particularly handsome. He's down-to-earth and a bit of a worrier, particularly about the future as a whole. Sometimes he'll worry himself to the point of obsession, particularly about the nightmares he has and what their true meaning might be, and he struggles with letting go of such thoughts. He's an honest man who rarely lies, though he's prone to saying he's fine when he isn't. Heights and sudden movements tend to make him uncomfortable.
ABILITIES.
While he does not fully understand or realize this, Rupert has the ability to see himself, his actions and outcomes of those actions in various alternate timelines. These visions are most often about villainous versions of himself, but not always. Examples of some of these other lives include himself as a futuristic dictator, a most-wanted mastermind thief, and a serial killer not unlike Jack the Ripper.
