This takes place in a fantasy world with numerous kingdoms spread about the world.

(It is important to mention that MC is trained as a ranger and a hunter by her family’s ranger captain. She is skilled in stealth, daggers, longbow and poison darts)

1758978959641.png MC is the youngest princess of the kingdom of Viralda and her eldest brother has fallen ill with a disease even the palace sorcerers cannot seem to banish from the prince’s body. MC regards her eldest brother as her best friend, she is devastated to think that his imminent death is inevitable.
Well, perhaps not entirely inevitable, there is one possible way to save MC’s brother… There is a magic relic that belongs to a neighboring kingdom (YC’s kingdom) said to have been left behind on the physical plane by a goddess of life and healing, a beautiful pink crystal shaped like a lotus flower.

The problem with this? Viralda and YC’s kingdom have been bitter rivals for years stemming from an ancient feud when an ancestor of MC was supposed to wed an ancestor of YC, but instead eloped with a servant girl, leaving YC’s ancestor alone and humiliated at the altar. YC’s family has never forgiven this insult to their family. Especially since MC’s ancestor refused to apologize for what he did.

MC arranges to meet a royal diplomat from YC’s kingdom (which will be YC) to discuss a potential solution to dissolve the feud. Their meeting place is a sanctuary in the forest between their kingdoms, a place sacred to the mythical healing goddess where the lotus crystal was said to have been discovered so very long ago. In this place, violence is forbidden and those who disregard this and do harm unto another in this space, they will face divine punishment in some shape or form at some point going forward.

When YC is abducted by thieving bandits from the meeting place before MC arrives, MC abandons her guards to don her ranger gear and move stealthily through the forest, tracking the bandits to their camp and rescuing YC. He is immediately smitten with the courageous and breathtakingly beautiful young woman.

When they reach the designated meeting place, YC learns that MC is in fact the princess he was supposed to meet for diplomatic talks.
He shocks her by immediately producing the lotus crystal and offers to loan it to her and says he will come with a small retinue in a few days to accept the crystal back.

What MC doesn’t know is that there is a royal tradition from YC’s kingdom that has been observed for centuries… a crown royal gives the crystal to the person they wish to marry and if they accept it, the couple is officially engaged. This method of engagement is regarded as unbreakable and attempting to break the engagement without both parties involved in agreement is grounds for war.

MC doesn’t understand that when she accepted the crystal, she agreed to become betrothed to YC. He doesn’t tell her until he and his retinue come to retrieve the crystal… and the prince’s bride to be… he says he figured it didn’t matter, that he knew she’d do anything anyway to get that crystal to save her brother, marrying him should be an easy choice.

Or… they can just go to war and she’ll wind up his wife anyway, under much less happy circumstances…
