About me
-
I'm Pere/Peregrine. I've been writing for twenty-fiveish years with rp partners in various places on the net from chat rooms to websites to all the things in between.
I've been writing RP in some form for ~25 years. I am a multi-paragraph writer generally speaking, but when it comes to needing a back and forth I'm perfectly comfortable having posts be short and sweet and too the point. I sometimes wish I was a "less is more" kind of writer, but mostly I'm a "more is more" when it comes to stories.
I am comfortable writing main characters, tossing in side characters- and sharing some of said side characters as necessary. I like to have robust, fleshed out characters and having other 'NPC' type characters I feel is a must with most stories- whether they stick around for a paragraph or become a favorite and weave in and out of a tale, I feel stories need more than the main character I'm writing. I also encourage partners to pull in people as the story develops and ideas strike- so long as things don't get totally derailed in the processes. I am willing to toss around/share ideas/plot points, and would prefer to be able to ooc any major ideas a little if you feel worried it's going to wreck things. I'm also not above retconning something and going back if both of us feel it is necessary.
I am alright with violence though I don't usually get very gory, and prefer not to ready intimate and graphic details of disembowelments as just and example. Sword play? Gun shot wounds? Sweeping battles? Etc? Sign me up.
I don't care the sex of my partner- so long as they feel comfortable writing the gender of, in this case, the male lead in the story. -
Styles I like
-
I love writing sci-fi- space, mutants, future earth, etc, period drama - romancey type stories, and fantasy- classic settings and modern- vampires, werewolves, whathaveyou. I do low buzz horror- mostly just like dystopian/zombie without massive gore- focusing mostly on the human interactions sprinkled with the drama and fighting of zombies/monsters. I have in the past written fandoms- mostly set in Superhero settings, and I'm open to fandom writing, I just have pretty particular fandoms - mostly from movies or books- that most people don't know or want to write stories in

What I Look For In A Partner
-
I'm looking for someone that is going to be able to post consistently and communicate openly. My schedule is usually fairly wide open, and I tend to be able to post multiple times a day once a thread gets going. I can and am a patient partner, I just prefer quick turn around and lots of reading and writing and the creating a story process. If I'm going to be unable to post for more than a day, I do my utmost to let let my writing partners know. My brain fills with ideas and while I usually have a general idea of plot points and storylines I'm aiming for, I am also able to be flexible and bend to ideas that pop up as I play off my writing partners.
I like to know that once I start something, even if the pacing is slow, that the writing will still continue. I appreciate if you've hit writers block, but are still interested, that you just let me know. Or if you know ahead of time you need a break or are going to be gone, I appreciate just a "hey not going to be able to write for x amount of days" or whatever. There is also the times when the interest just weens. If that happens, just let me know. I'd rather move something to a "dead thread" than just be ghosted.
What you can expect from me- the things I mentioned above from me, plus fairly speedy replies. I can write anything from 200 words to novel length. I don't like restricting myself, but I am to adjust to my partners writing length/level/comfort. I feel like all post lengths are valid as they are all needed depending on what is happening in the story and how interactions need to go. -
My Comfort Zone
-
Violence- I am pretty tolerant with violence as long as it is story driven. I don't really enjoy violence for violence sake. I can do some gore, but I don't write it much because 1. I'm not good at it and 2. I'm probably not good at it because I don't really enjoy it much.
Romancey Stuff- I enjoy writing characters in relationships, romance, and love, and am willing to have characters be physical. If a story develops into romance, it doesn't have to be the driving factor but if it does come to that I'm a build up/elude and fade to black when it comes to anything beyond that.

I'm looking to play the female lead (If you're not a man but comfortable playing a Male lead I'm cool with it too.).
STORY PREMISE IDEA
Set in a world of fancy dress, garden parties, balls, and societal expectations. Two young, and lets be honest, attractive young people are being moved about like chess pieces in the political and financial interests of their families. What happens when they're marriage is arranged by enterprising parents? Will their friends be a help or hindrance? Do their hearts already long for someone else they are destined never to have and will only cause heartache as they traverse their way toward their families goals? Let's find out!
I have an idea in my head, that I have used in the past, and it will sound backwards, but no matter how we get there, I would like the two lead characters to end up with their 'happily ever after'. aka, the two main characters realizing they do in fact love each other, even if it takes a lot of bumps to come to the realization that they are happy about the arrangement that was foisted on them. That doesn't mean however, that it will be easy getting there, or accepting it all.
The way the idea works is that every so often, I or if you join me you- can start your post with a scene from the characters wedding, before flashing back to the story we are writing. Again, I know it sounds backward, but with the right twists and turns, it still feels satisfying to write the story and find out how they got to the happiness that seemed so elusive.
Emiline Marie Percy
Emiline, who prefers to be called Emily, is the only daughter of Lord Robert and Lady Vivian Percy. Her father took a progressive approach to their family and moved them all from the city out to their less expensive country estate when Emily was eight. He also contradicted his wife by educating Emily right along with his boys in reading, mathematics, world studies, as well as let her learn riding, shooting with a bow, and scraping up her knees climbing trees and running through the deer park attached to their estate. Her mother still did her best to tie her down and made sure she was also schooled in all of the things to make her a proper lady- stitching and running a household, sketching and playing the violin and harp when they found out she was atrocious at the piano and piano forte. She is and can be terribly stubborn and strong willed, and puts up a good front but is generally terribly lacking in self confidence.
She knows it is her familial responsibility to marry where her parents decide is best, but at the same time she isn't sure she likes the idea of her parents arranging her life after so many years of basic and expansive freedom.

STORY PREMIS IDEA
The setting is going to be Fort Davis, a (fictional) re-posed Military base in Wyoming, United States. It is Day 532 since the first reported attacks associated with the virus happened- but let's be honest, the government was probably covering things up for a while before this. If you choose to join, you'll be creating a character that somehow escaped the initial outbreak and chaos- how they did that and how they got to Ford Davis, is up to you. Did you travel with a group? Did you know someone working at the base and made your way there? Did you sacrifice others along the way to save your own skin? All up to you.
Everyone that shows up at Fort Davis will be assigned a "job" aka Duties by the 'BRASS' aka- what's left of the army leadership that didn't roll out with emergency services. So- what can you do that someone else can't? Or what can you at least attempt to do to help this new "colony" of the living in the new landscape of the dead? EVERYONE will have an assignment- whether that's washing dishes and peeling potatoes, or guarding our large perimeter. Some assignments will/can rotate, some skills and duties can be taught- so you aren't pigeonholed just because you've never picked up a weapon in your life. Duties rotate on a weekly basis, which can also rotate monthly as new people arrive... or old are lost.
As for the ZOMBIES- here's the low down- They're reanimated corpses blah blah blah- but here's the thing- The more recently turned are more aware, more sensitive, basically more lethal. The longer someone is a zombie, the less mobile and alert they are. Here's the kicker though- there is a MASSIVE amount of "old" undead, and because they tend to bunch up, they will attack with blunt and unrelenting force if attracted.
Sounds and smells are the strongest draws- but lights in the dark- fires, flashlights, flares, will draw their attention. Again, the newer the turn, the less degraded and decayed the body- the more likely they are gonna come at you and eat your face off mmmkay? This virus is contractible through bodily fluids- you get bit? You get blood or saliva from an infected in an open wound? In your mouth? You're toast. And yes there have been cases of animal infection, though most of them just die and don't get zombiefied.
Wanna kill one of these suckers? You better stick something or shoot something one, or a few times, in their brain, decapitate them, or light 'em up- literally. With fire. If too much of the body has gone to rot, or is dismembered enough, they're toast. No heads and hands continuing to come at you if they aren't attached- though there is still some "spazaming" for up to 24 hours of limbs and heads that have been removed from the whole- so don't be stupid and go and stick your finger in a freaking Zombies mouth, cause if that jaw spasms and shuts? Welp, now you're bit and one of them, so we're going to mercy kill you most likely. Also- Muscles and ligaments are still a thing- if you hamstring them, they'll still be able to crawl, but you know... that's slower than jogging, walking, or shuffling right?
There is still a slightly functioning government- but it's all but powerless to enforce any of their "recommendations". You see- they want people to stay put, and stay safe- because eventually all those bodies are going to rot, and then we can just burn them up and go about our business, right? RIGHT?!? Pfttt.. sure.
We're where we are, because let's face it, there is safety in numbers, not because we have any real hope this thing is just going to eventually work itself out and all those things are just eventually going to fall down and fertilize the earth anew.
Please- this is a Zombie thread- characters MIGHT die- we should plan on it a little bit- but no one can go off and kill someone/let them get dead else unless it has been discussed and agreed upon in OOC or DM's and the like- unless you have to drop out... then we might just assume you're dead if you were left in a position that it was possible and we move on without you.
SOOOO TL;DR- here is what you need to do- DM me a Character Sheet-(or two if you're ambitious or want side characters you're willing to keep on top of)

Female
Brown hair, Brown/Hazel eyes, 5'9"
Weapons your character has experience with (if any):
Automatic Weapons- Rifles and Pistols, some combat knife training
Training your Character has (if any):
Ana is former Army trained.
She was a combat medic, and once her service was finished she was an ER nurse.
She was less than a year from completing her DSN in nursing. Basic survival skills
About You Section:
Ana and her parents were first generation immigrants to the United States when she was six and her brother was four. She grew up and lived most of her life in Newark, New Jersey. Her parents were very loving and very devoted Jews, but she always struggled with her faith. That struggle worsened when she lost her brother at fifteen. At the age of 18 she decided to enter military service- partly to get away from home and parents because she wasn't sure what she wanted to "do with her life" and was being pressured to attend college. She was part of the special combat unit.
After finishing her service she'd found her path- nursing. Trauma nursing to be exact. She started out in some of the large hospitals in New Jersey and New York, but has moved from hospital to hospital as she has a slight authority figure problem.
Three Strengths:
Capable, cool under pressure, adaptable
Three Weaknesses:
Being ordered around by people who don't know what they are doing, inability to not get involved in things she feels are important, bull headed
Three Useful Skills:
Medical training, weapons training, can cook
Survivor Story:
Ana is great at her job, and if she cared or liked to be in charge, she'd be a great leader. She can lead a group, or be in charge of her shift, but her biggest ambition is to help her patients, which has gotten her in hot water with her managers and bosses on more than one occasion and is the reason she has worked at 4 different hospitals in the last six years. She was just executing a move back to a hospital in New York from Illinois when the outbreaks started. She was sidelined to help in a small rural hospital, and each day her hopes of returning to her Parents apartment and finding them alive dwindled as the East coast's "infection" projections got worse and worse.
She was eventually gathered up by the remains of a unit out of Fort Davis that was heading back to their post, and traveled with them back to Wyoming when it was made clear that the military wasn't letting anyone travel East for any reason. There is still a small sliver of her that hopes she'll find her parents alive, somehow. -

FxM- I'm looking to play the female lead (If you're not a man but comfortable playing a Male lead I'm cool with it too.).
STORY PREMIS IDEA
So, I have a fairly clear idea of where this story starts, and some things I'd like to hit along the way.
The idea is that the female lead is a runaway "blind" oracle- that at the beginning of the story actually is going to be going by Ora. She's escaped from the (as yet to be named) Capitol of the Empire. The Capitol is a hub of power and advancement.
There is magic that the powerful and wealthy families have a massive amount of access to because they can buy the favor of the gods that grant the power to casters- those people that can access and manipulate the magic/power of the world. There are also lesser/less powerful beings in my mind that are sort of servants of the gods, aka demi-gods. In my mind it's similar to the Greek pantheon where you have those 'main' gods with sweeping powers and then demi-gods, and then some people (Casters, oracles, etc) with power/ability to a less extent. Even every day citizens can access power through spells or the servant types or even the gods themselves it if they have enough coin or something they can trade to the casters. There's the usual hierarchical crap going on in a large city structure-rich/poor, slave/free, power struggles and politics. In the last fifty years they have been creating/building devices that harness the power the casters have access to. They are still a fairly limited number of items and I only have a short list of ides of what they are, so I'm fully open to anything you can think up.
There has been growing tension in this Empire because other neighboring countries/kingdoms are stirring, but they also have a fear of the Empire because of The Visionaries- the place where my character/Oracle escaped/fled/ran away from. They are a group of seers- but there is only ever one "Oracle". I'd like to keep some of the full extent of that back just for the story/spoilers sake, but I can give more info on that as well in dms to interested partners.
So Ora is a valuable asset/woman on the run with various entities out to capture her for various reasons. Your character might be one of those after her? Or maybe a savior that will help her escape! Is he a neutral-ish character? Is he someone that has abilities of his own- a spell caster, or somehow affiliated with the gods/demi-gods, but not necessarily in line with all of it? He could be someone from a neighboring kingdom that's somehow heard the Oracle is missing and started tracking her down. He could for sure be someone from the village she stumbles into at the beginning that volunteers/insists on helping her/is pushed into helping her by the other villagers.
My vision overall is that he would be someone who helps her- whether that help is duplicitous and he's actually some kind of a double cross and/or pursuer that gets curious as to why he was sent to hunt her down and/or has his own motivations for not just capturing her and immediately returning her could certainly be interesting. It's possible he's more ambiguous than someone that knows all about her- so possibly a hired tracker that was given very limited information. I'd be even fine even if he was some kind of godly servant that doesn't like the way the balance of power is going among the gods for some reason and decided to meddle and send someone to protect her?
Mostly I saw him as a companion and then see where things go from there.
I'm fully comfortable writing the "pursuer" role or characters that are coming after her, but I'm also okay handing that off if you'd like to write more than one character.
I don't want to give much away about Ora- but here is a basic description and some faceclaims
She is twenty-two, just under 5'6". She has a golden tan skin, and if it's ever out from under the wrap on her head her hair is a long wavy dark honey brown/blond with a few well hidden streaks of white. She usually has it braided and wrapped tightly around her head to hide it under the cloth. She has a slim muscular build that helps her disguise herself as a boy at most times.

How she would look at times in the Capitol

STORY PREMIS IDEA
The Civil War is freshly over, the Transcontinental Railroad is stealing headlines as work finally begins, and many thousands of good folk from all over are heading West from the Mississippi for just as many reasons. Whether it's gold, opportunity, the past, the war, or anything else that drives people from home, most people end up finding something far different once they hit the vast plains and cold mountains. A few of them even settled in a growing little town, Black Falls, nestled in a valley near the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming.
The success of this settlement is teetering on success or failure as there is a growing lawlessness creeping toward the peaceful valley.
The character I'll be playing is a woman who lost her father to one of the outlaws and is trying to keep her budding ranch afloat.
Who you play is up to you- a sheriff? a doctor? the owner of a store or saloon? Another ranch owner?
The wild west has endless possibilities.
I've got only minor details fleshed out for my gal, but here's a name and a faceclaim to get us started.

FxM- I'm looking to play the female lead (If you're not a man but comfortable playing a Male lead I'm cool with it too.).
STORY PREMIS IDEA
This is a vampire/supernatural story setting- The premise is at least one of our characters lived a mortal life at some point(we can discuss timeframe setting) and the two of them were linked. If both are mortal in the initial setting then something happens where one of them was turned and the other cursed and killed. It is now modern day and somehow they run into each other- we can discuss this, maybe one of them is ill and the vampire works at the hospital. Maybe it was a chance meeting where the vampire one felt something or the mortal looks like they did once upon a time. I'd like the "mortal" character-which ever of us it is- to be unaware of the supernatural but they come to know it through our vampire character showing them or convincing them or even turning them?
This is a fairly loose and open idea for me and I'm willing to talk back and forth if the premise entices you at all. -
Under the lights of a Fading Star - Modern Fantasy/Supernatural
-
FxM- I'm looking to play the female lead (If you're not a man but comfortable playing a Male lead I'm cool with it too.).
STORY PREMIS IDEA
This is a supernatural setting with an "end of the world" ala mystical means type sword hanging over everyone that is just starting to rumble as the story starts with strange mortal deaths splashing across the 'mortal' news. One of the victims leading back to the business of the Locke & Keye- a supernatural bar run by my Character Casey Clarke.
Casey's great-great-great-great grandmother Emily Clarke, an emigrant and a witch, was one of the original "Mercer Girls" brought to Seattle to help increase the population of "eligible women" for the male settlers to marry.
She really was running from witch hunters in England and was getting as far and as lost as possible. She married quickly, but her haven and her happiness wouldn't last, as many Clarke women tend to find tragedy not many years after finding happiness in love.
After her husband died, Emily retained her maiden name and she and her two daughters were left to fend for themselves. Emily, with the money she was left from her semi-successful businessman of a husband, opened the original Locke & Keye in Seattle's business district.
Her oldest daughter Melody took it over in her early 20's and saw it rebuilt atop the old building, just like much of the district, after the Seattle fires of 1889 that also claimed Emiliy's life. It was at this same time the Locke and Keye began to be more "mystical" in it's clientele and in it's services. It kept most such activities below ground for the next 50+ years, continuing to be passed down from mother to daughter, though generally under less tragic circumstances than Emily to Melody.
It was in the 1960's after the world's fair, under Emiline Clarke's care that the Lock and Keye began to protect and guard against the entrance of most "mortals" and be a refuge for those of the mystical variety.
The bar has been quietly successful since and was passed to Case at the age of 19, after the untimely death of her mother, Eliza. Casey's grandmother Mary offered to come back and care for the place again, but Casey insisted that she remain happy and retired. She's been running it for the last six years and living a pretty steady mystical life until now.
Will your man be a mortal detective that hounds Casey? Will he be a new creature type just come to Seattle? Is he a regular that has some link or knowledge of what is headed our characters way? Let's talk about it!
