The Day Pheobe Realized She Wasn't All Alone
Pheobe almost ran her gloved hand through her hair before her brain processed that she had human gore on it. "Shit Shit Shit let's not have to wash this gunk out." She pulled her hand away from near her hair and sighed, today was going to be a long day of dissecting and observing and taking tests. She loved her job, yes, she truly does but today was just not her day it seemed. First body she had to cut open was at a certain point of decomposition and she didn't notice so the body spurted a bit of gore onto her, thankfully missing her face and hair.
"Charles? How many more tests do you think we have tonight?" She asks her coworker who stood in front of the microscope looking carefully into it, writing notes messily onto a piece of paper beside it. "Probably only two more, we have learned most of what has happened to Mr. Doe." He responds and she nods, flexing her fingers slightly before reaching into the body to grab its stomach. She placed it carefully on a silver tray and cut it open with a scalpel.
A few hours later, Pheobe sighed deeply and pulled off her gloves after taking off her apron. "We did well today, Feebs." Charles said beside her as she put the soiled apron and gloves into the trash. She nods "We did, I'm just feeling kinda weird today I don't know what it is." She said and he nods, putting a hand on her shoulder in comfort "I understand, have tomorrow off okay? I got you covered, I can do your shift." He said and smiled at her and she nods and sighs again "Thank you so much Charles, you're an angel. I swear I don't know what I did to deserve such an amazing business partner." She said and smiled gently at him before walking over to the lockers and pulling out her back pack and change of clothes. She always wore her paint splattered black clothing so the blood wouldn't show up but she always brought a spare pair of clothes in case she was truly covered in gore – such as how she looked right now. The gore from the apron had leaked on the side, creating a gross film on the shirt. She scampered off into the bathroom, locking the door behind her as she pulled off the soiled clothing. She pulled on a mustard yellow long sleeve shirt and overalls and pulled her platform boots back on before stuffing the other clothes into her backpack after pulling out her keys.
"I'll see you on Saturday Charles, be safe." She said waving to her coworker before taking off, walking out to the parking lot where her 2002 Subaru Outback waited for her. Unlocking her car she threw her bag into the passenger seat before sitting down herself and starting up the car as she closed her car door. Pheobe drove to her apartment, humming softly to herself to try to make her feel better when she had the idea of going to a bar, maybe meet some new people. She rarely does that, so she shrugged and changed course to the local bar.
After choosing a parking spot far away from other people's car so no one would smash into hers, she walked into the bar and sat in the corner in an old booth – ordering herself a virgin Pina Colada.
