Damianos the Conqueror was the King of Sparta. He ruled with an iron first yet also an unmistakable fairness. Salene fell in love with Damianos desiring his heart and soul. Eros, her half brother, offered it to her but she refused. Instead, she prepared to win him over at the celebration of the Gods known as the Olympic. Salene won every event almost losing many but she caught his attention.

Seeing his daughters affection Aries challenged the man to a Javelin contest while disguised as a crippled old man. Damianos laughed at Aries until he heard the stake. "If you win… You may marry my daughter Salene." he said causing the man to agree to the foolish throw. He was shocked though when he lost but admitted his defeat. Aries threw away his disguise shocking the man. Aries promised him his daughter and that they would have only one child but that child would be loved by all the gods. Soon enough Salene was pregnant with child.

The child came far too early. It was a weak little creature but Salene refused to abandon him as her husband wished to. The Gods , all but one, were excited for such a joy as Aries first grandchild. Each who visited gave him a small gift to help him in life. Zeus though in his anger cursed the child. You see Salene had refused his bed and fought his advances which no woman had managed to do before. He cursed the child with an untold power before he cursed the little one with love. As he did a lightning bolt came down scarring the infant with a tiny wound.Hades felt pity for the child and took him in his arms. "Your name shall be Kimon… Thunderous. You shall never be touched by death… Only life." he whispered kissing the child on the forehead.

Kimon was a weak child and rarely left his mother's side. Damianos hated this and when Kimon turned three he ripped the boy from his mother's arms. This was normal as training started young but Daminos was horrifically crule. Until he was put in his place. As they trained Kimon tried hard to make his father proud but Kimon simply hated the idea of hurting another and preferred to take hits regardless of the pain. This angered Daminos who threw Kimon to the ground. He lifted a sword to the boys eyes threatening to blind him. Aries swooped down as a hawk and ripped out his son in laws eye.

While Daminos was a horrible father Salene was an amazing mother. Supporting his love of academics, weaving, animals, and gardening like only an Athenian mother could. She sent him to Athens were he was welcomed with open arms. There he was allowed to bloom into the most beautiful man in the world. With many a suitor and many a skill.

Here is where our story really begins...

The sound of grinding and the soft pings of ceramic against ceramic filled the air as Kimon created vibrant paint from the flowers of his garden. Paint he used to illustrate a text given to him by his dear teacher. It was a textbook of sorts explaining the threat of the sea so he decorated it with pictures of animals those at sea would face, ships they contact, and even the almighty image of Poseidon. Kimon had become a military expert in Athens well versed in sea battle but he much preferred peace to war. Having little desire to hurt another being. Thankfully times were relatively peaceful and he was able to work on more artistic pursuits.

"Master… Shall I make you some tea?" Aridni, his servant girl, asked in her usual honeyed tone. Kimon looked up from his almost finished work, "That would be lovely. Could you make the mint?" he asked unsure if the leaves were done drying in the sun. The girl nodded and went to the kitchen starting a pot to boil the water in the fireplace. As she worked making that nights dinner she was interrupted by a knock on the door. At the door was a messenger who ran there from Athens. He was tired and barely able to stand. Aridni hurried getting him a chair and some water. "I...have a message… from Athens.." he said panting holding out a scroll. It was made of rich white paper wrapped in red ribbon with the beautiful wax seal of Roman royalty. Taking it she walked to Kimon fearing what this letter contained for Kimon had gotten many like this from the King of Rome.

The King was acting as though he was struck by cupid's arrow. He had sent countless letters and gifts to proclaim his love yet Kimon didn't not feel such a love in return. He actually felt rather fearful of the man's persistence as it was getting almost violent. Kimon broke the wax seal reading the large letter. It proclaimed how the King had loved him ever since the day they met.

Flashback~
Kimon was a young child at the time of around eight. A reasonable time to begin courting to both the Athenians and Romans. He was a beautiful boy but at the moment he was covered in soil smelling harshly of lavender. Daminos was horrified but Salene laughed taking her son to clean up. He bathed and brushed his long white hair pulling it into a ponytail before he walked right out running into the older roman prince. He looked up at the man with his piercing blue eyes before he noticed the man's smile. He observed the teen looking at him before he noticed there was something in his hand. He looked at it seeing a doll of Persephone. His eyes widened and he took the doll with a coo. He held it close sticking to the Roman teen having little cognizant idea he was being courted but he was happy.

Kimon remembered that day well for when his father dared to take the doll the ground rumbled with what sounded like thunder. It wasn't thunder but a monster crawling up from the bowels of the Earth. It was killed but finally it was clear was Zeus had cursed him with…. Destruction.

Kimon read further before he came to a shocking revolution. The Roman King threatened war with Athens and Sparta should he refuse the marriage. He hated conflict but he refused to marry a man he knew so little about. A man who scared him to the very core and threatened war for his love. He began to write a letter back telling the man he wouldn't marry someone he didn't know and knew so little about. He rolled it and wrapped it in black ribbon with a blue seal. He sent it back after allowing the messenger. Paying him some coins for his work. "Take it to the Capital of Sparta. Send it on a fresh messenger." he said before he returned to his book sipping nervously on the tea. He hoped the Roman King took it well but it would take some time to get to him.
