Personality: Quiet around new people, but mouthy when he needs to be, even around people of a higher social status. Protective of his friends. Though he's more bark than bite he does know how to fight dirty, and will if it's for someone else. He is easily overwhelmed in large crowds and seeks refuge in quiet cozy places with people he trusts.

Background: Azel's father (Quentin) committed suicide when Azel was four, leaving Azel and his mother (Leah) in financial ruin. Azel and his mother managed to scrape by, with Azel taking his first job at age ten. He managed to graduate (to his own surprise) shortly before his mother passed away which was just before his eighteenth birthday. Already poor, her death left him in even more debt, and he lost the only home he ever knew to cover the costs of her funeral. Due to his social status and financial struggles, he was forced to explore the criminal world to survive, not realizing he was doing more harm than good.

Background: During his final year in high school, due to serious behavioral issues, Ethan transferred to Ironwood Academy in Washington. During the final few months of the year, he defended a student he'd become obsessed with, Levi Keong. In his attempts to help Levi, he became a target and was ruthlessly attacked by a group of young men who are all now missing. After dropping out of high school due to the incident, he took up an apprenticeship at a green house, where his love of nature was nurtured. In passing he was reminded of why he'd gone through what he'd gone through in high school: Levi Keong. After a short stalking stint, he learned that Levi was still working towards a career in law enforcement and knowing he would never be able to join Levi down a righteous path, he decided to make himself an enemy of the state.

He now leads a world wide terrorist organization known as the Locust. The name was not chosen by Pierce, and he refuses to refer to his organization as anything other than The Cultivators.
