cough cough Now where was I?
Whisper
As she steps inside, Bae'ynrae feels the edge of his rapier against her neck. Whisper lets out a sigh before whipping the blade downward, snapping it into his hilt. "Have you learned nothing in your training girl?"
Bae'ynrae
She seems relatively unphased and for a moment Bae smiles for real, looking up to the man with a little amusement. "It's nice to see you too, Whisper. Next time I'll be more cautious." Now the girl openly looks around, one of her hands going up to play with her hair as the mask falls back down. "I need to talk with you. I need us to put our heads together and... well. There's something ... uhm... I need help with. But first, how are you?"
Hello, I'm Moondancer! Your friendly neighborhood weirdo, happily skipping into your life to ask you very nicely to play with me. Whether it's a two person story between us or a larger game with others, I simply want to scratch my itch for roleplaying!
That's not all I do, of course, but we'll talk about that later.
I've been roleplaying online for almost twenty years now with almost a decade's experience playing TTRPGs, too. Creating and roleplaying characters are my bread and butter. When I get invested in a character and their story I can get very, very dedicated to playing them and exploring them -- writing about them, drawing them, even creating webpages for them. It's how I have my fun. :3
I'm disabled and out of work, so I pretty much have all the free time in the world to play games, roleplay, and talk. However my various qualms and ailments, general bad luck, game nights, and darling friends (who do love kidnapping me) can all play a factor in how online and available I am at any given time, so please keep that in mind if you're interested!
Because of the above ... and untreated ADHD... I prefer setting aside a few hours once a week specifically to RP with my partner(s). This lets me plan around that time and do my damnedest to keep anything else from interfering. Of course I'm happy to try more casual roleplaying over a longer period of time if that's more your style, but rapid-fire, focused play a few consecutive hours a week is more my speed and it's what I actively seek out.
My style of roleplay is third-person, present or past tense (I have no real preference), being no more than a few paragraphs unless the situation calls for it or I am trying to evoke a particular mood or image. I seek quality over quantity and try to offer similarly. If you want an example of what I mean, here's an introduction I wrote for a one-shot:
Your people taught you the Apocalypse would not be the End of All Things; it would only the end of now. Mokole have survived devastation before, after all -- even you, in your most restless Dreams, recall dimly the earth-shattering blow of the Wonder-Work that ended the golden Age of the Old Ones.
But you were never prepared for what the Dissolver's Apocalypse would actually mean.
Your nest brother, small and delicate compared to you, was your Apocalypse. Last night the memory of your loss played out yet again as an inescapable Dream: he begged you to save him as Black Spirals dragged him down into the unholy dark where you could not follow. They showed no mercy in their sick, twisted games, and you were there; you cannot forget the horrible knowledge of his final moments. Screams of a boy too young for war echoed through your mind all day.
Tonight you are tired and hungry. In the dusky twilight it's only warm, the day's heat dissipating as quickly as the clouds do. (By midnight the temperatures will dip below freezing; thank Gaia for your homid shape, warm-blooded and much more capable of handling the bitter cold. Whatever the Elders thought about the descendants of apes, at least their form is good for something.) Yesterday you emptied the last of the meat from the bulky plastic cooler that acts as your larder.
Above you hangs the blood-red sky; behind you loom the broken forms of mountains blackened by the setting sun. Before you stretch rocky, barren hills covered in a thin layer of brush. Wisps of dust swirl on the wind over the desert. Your better judgement tells you a dust storm will arrive in the coming days. You need to hunt.
At this time I'm not seeking highly sexual stories or roleplays. If romance and seduction happen in-character -- great! We can roleplay that out! But that's not what I'm looking for and that's not my focus. I am a grown-ass woman with an active imagination and a vibrator; fantasy sex play with internet strangers doesn't interest me. Similarly, while I most certainly love romance I'm not going to force it. Focus on a story and characters first and foremost, it'll all come together as it does. ;)
Neither am I seeking fandom roleplays or anything that could be described as generic or fetishistic. I could be persuaded to play outside of the systems + settings I'm interested in, but you'll have to bring something interesting to the table for me to even consider it.
What do I want, then? Adventure, drama, maybe a little romance; fantasy, horror, wonder, discovery, excitement, and even some slice-of-life. There's a lot you can do with the settings I want to play in and the OWOD systems are built beyond combat, which offers even more versatility to our storytelling. There's a whole world of possibilities out there we could explore together -- I'm happy to hear your ideas and even happier to share a few of mine ^^
Legend of the Five Rings -- I have one very solid, built-up character and quite a few fuzzy concepts I'd love to play! I've still got a lot, looot lot, to learn about the lore and setting, but would be happy to take the time and effort to do so. My ideal L5R game would be a Fatal Frame 2-esque survival romp through a haunted village. Werewolf the Apocalypse (W20) -- A setting I deeply love, I have quite a few character concepts (probably a dozen?) for WTA ^^ I'm not 100% on the lore though so I can be surprised! WRT ideas, historical games are on the table, we could always go Dark Ages. Changeling the Dreaming (C20) -- Another setting I'm deeply in love with and have much experience playing in. I have literal dozens of characters for Changeling! Like WTA I'm not 100% up on the lore either, for similar reasons; I enjoy being surprised by things I don't know and learning in character! Plus, like all OWOD systems, it has... so much, haha. Because it has so much though there's a lot we could do -- we could play college shenanigans, Court melodramas, nightmares made real, questings through the Dreaming -- CTD is capable of soooo much! The Forgotten Realms -- I don't care what edition of DND we play (I'm even happy to try Pathfinder), I just enjoy the Forgotten Realms. I have a handful of FR characters ready and waiting for play and even more concepts I could iron out. WRT ideas, I'd love a drow-focused game, as drow are my favorite part of the setting ;) XCrawl -- Look, it's gonzo enough I'm interested. How could I not be? 90s reality TV bloodsports in a weird Holy Roman Empire run by Ronald fucking Reagan. It's... so bad it's kinda good. Ponyfinder -- Another weird setting I'd greatly enjoy playing in. (What can I say; I love My Little Ponies and already have a ton of My Little Pony OCs based off of the original toy line!) Just... don't make it weird. Don't make playing magic pony warriors weird, man. Star Wars SAGA Edition -- I mean I could try other Star Wars games too, I've just played SAGA edition. Anyway! This is tentative, I LOVE Star Wars especially the original trilogy and the Clone Wars cartoon, but I'd need to play with someone who respects my annoying opinions on the prequel trilogy (could have been better, had a lot of interesting ideas and fun stuff but I wish they hadn't gone so hard on weird destiny and blood bullshit) and wouldn't hold my lack of Star Wars lore knowledge against me. <_< |
Love a weird or obscure setting / system nobody plays anymore? PLEASE MESSAGE ME ABOUT IT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I LOVE HEARING ABOUT OBSCURE TTRPG SETTINGS!!!
oh my god I'm sorry I'm like this
If it's not obvious I'm willing to consider other systems and settings as well as more complex systems (looking at DND3e and PF1e) if you're willing to sell me on them and/or hold my hand if it's complex. New things scary. Fire bad. Thomas Edison was a witch, etc. (Though actually I do have a smidge of PF1e experience... I've played in multiple games and it was my introduction to TTRPGs... it's just taken almost a decade to not cry with frustration over it... no I don't know any PF1e rules, yes I am a bimbo)
Due to the nature of certain systems and settings, I expect we'll both not only be playing multiple characters, but also each play NPCs. (It'll be fun! Who doesn't want to play a villain sometimes?) I'm perfectly content with both freeform games and published campaigns; whatever works for us! However puts on my pirate hat I have quite a few campaign books for many of the systems/settings I'm seeking so do feel free to ask (or even suggest if there's something particular you want!)
Goodbye... for now
Near midnight Bae'ynrae makes her way to the tower. It's slowly becoming familiar, she realizes dryly, as she considers picking up a few pebbles for the road; there may come a day when she can teleport here with ease. Her familiar follows behind her, unusual for the beast, and Faeriira's quiet, more like an actual cat now. Bae thinks she's still stunned, but the girl doesn't really know.
The little drow takes her time walking through Kraid's garden. Her hands brush through flowers, plucking a few and tucking them into her hair, though it doesn't bring her joy like she's used to. Still: it feels better than not doing it. So the flowers go in her hair. Their scent surrounds her and grounds her.
Well. It's time to go. She turns back to look at the bright city behind her for a moment. Oh, city of splendors, may your lights guide me home. Bae'ynrae doesn't know how long she'll be gone from Waterdeep, but she'll miss it, and she'll miss -- that thought gets stomped down. There's no time for that. Once she's said her goodbyes she turns back to the door and knocks. This time it's a delicate sound, almost easy to miss.
