Silica always loved gardening and botany, so she learned a lot about gardening just from her reading and practicing with her own plants at home, while her mother and father taught her the tools of their trade in alchemy.

Silica never knew anything outside the walls of Tethis, her mother would often regale her with tales of the outside before bed leaving her wondering if she'd get to see the outside. She grew up in a stable home, her parents ran a local medicine shop that focused on natural remedies, herbal poultices and teas, the shop always smelled rather nice and she loved helping out her parents. As she grew her curiosity remained and she studied everything she could waiting to one day see the outside world
