He learned to fight from their time in the military, and to sail from his past on the open seas. But his teleportation over a short distance is natural, given from his race.

Before moving to Tethis he used to sail on the sea, delivering shipments and transporting people who were moving to another place, until he met his wife Lilliana, she was a siren who they were bringing to Tethis and the two ended up dating by the time they arrived. After a few months of having to leave her along he opted to live in Tethis with her and join the army.
