The depths of futility
This idea comes from something I have had in my mind for years. My first attempt was very successful at first but it did not survive nearly as long as I had hoped. I bring this up because I am after people who genuinely want to explore a galaxy far, far, away. I want this to build off of the official timeline but also to be able to breathe on its own.

In order to have my cake and eat it too, this will be set one hundred years after The Rise of Skywalker. But may also include some elements from the old Expanded Universe.

Enough preamble, here's the setting:

One hundred years have passed since the events of The Rise of Skywalker. After the destruction of the Sith Fleet above Exegol and the final death of Palpatine the New Republic has moved back to Coruscant to set up a new form of government. Calling itself the Galactic Alliance this new legislature has set out to help rebuild worlds devastated during the war with the First Order.

Maintaining their own small area of space, the remnant of the First Order became the Imperial Remnant. Realizing their power had been diminished beyond any hope of further hostilities, they sent ambassadors to the Galactic Alliance to discuss a treaty of peace and mutual assistance known as the Treaty of Endor. The Imperial Remnant began to flourish under this pact and reformed with a new, benign Emperor at its helm - Emperor Roan Fel. This new Emperor did not dream of conquest - but of demonstrating that the Empire of old had finally changed into a force for good.

Meanwhile on Coruscant, the Galactic Alliance Chancellor - a Mon Cal named Cial Ackbar has come to understand that the galaxy still needs peacekeepers to achieve unity. He sends ambassadors to Yavin IV, site of the first Death Star's destruction and home of the New Jedi Order for assistance. The Jedi Council agrees to a limited partnership with the government, but refuses to be drawn into the world of politics as the Jedi of old had done before the Clone Wars.

A third group has also revived themselves - The Mandalorians. The planet Mandalore was one of the first planets assisted by the Galactic Alliance. Now the planet is forested and home to a new capital city called Keldabe.

But Crow, where is the legacy part? That's the big part. So often the legacy we leave behind is not the one we had intended. There are still echoes of the past. And much of what was known about the Force and wars before has been lost. That is what the characters here will discover. Every fire starts with a single spark.

Romance is allowed, but as this story is non sexual it will fade to black rather than display naughty bits.

The characters can be Jedi who are learning the ways of the Force on Yavin IV. Smugglers and agents of the Galactic Alliance and Imperial Remnant can be made as well. Mandalorians are also available. And before anyone asks - I have plans for the Sith. 100% Kylo Ren-free because he was not a Sith Lord.

This is an interest check open to anyone and everyone. If you have questions please respond on here as I will be checking back.

I have one question, I may be remembering wrong. Didn't the sequelogy state that Rey was the last Jedi? If that is the case how is their a Jedi Council for the Alliance to turn to for help?

I have three characters. One is a Empire era and post Empire era legacy character reworked for this time frame. The other is an OC I have tried a couple of times, I may rework her. One is an Empire era former Imperial pilot turned Rebel smuggler.

I like it—though I do want to ask, what do you expect to be the main source of conflict? The world you laid out seems to be a fairly peaceful one on solid multipolar foundations, smugglers excepted. Is the peace between the Alliance and the Remnant stable? Are the Mandalorians looking to make a play? Maybe it has to do—as you mentioned—with the Sith? Is there a storm brewing somewhere, in short?

Either way, I have a few ideas in mind, no particular order:

-A suave, stylish diplomat, an ambitious agent of Chancellor Cial, arrives on Yavin looking to get the Jedi back into galactic politics… on the right side of things, of course, and with all the flash and pomp that can be mustered.

-A shockingly war-bitten Stormtrooper junior officer. Having fought since childhood in the brutal ground battles of the Outer Rim, pouring every ounce of his blood, sweat, and tears into preserving the Remnant, the talented young officer's energy, brilliance, and devotion to galactic order is all finally starting to gain him attention and favor from above (some welcome, much of it not),

-An ex-Padawan runaway, now grown up as a shiftless smuggler and death-stick addict, is trying to get back his prized possession from home—the kyber crystal from his lightsaber, the one he is attuned to through the Force which runs powerfully (if chaotically) through his veins. He had pawned the crystal off long ago in an act of desperation, and has been chasing it ever since—now, running a ratty small starship with a rattier and smaller crew, he's determined to get that small piece of himself back…

There will be a conflict. This is an era trying to rebuild. Others see it as a prime opportunity to sow seeds of doubt and turn this sought-after stability downward. The Mandalorians are going to get a pretty big bump in this. They were among the first to get aid from the Galactic Alliance and when Remnant ships arrived they were none too thrilled about that. Peaceful or no.

There are always storms brewing. System A got aid while System B didn't. System B thinks they were far more deserving of it and resentment grows.

There will be conflict (this is Star Wars after all) and it's called the Unification Wars. I like the characters I'm seeing so far. Very imaginative and they all look like they have stories to tell. I think the suave diplomat might be the ambassador sent by the GA to woo the Jedi back into the fold. I see a lot of potential in that one.

I also see a very surprising call to the Jedi by perhaps the unlikeliest group of all too. Who's calling them? That would be telling…😁

As for what I see with the Jedi is that Rey did establish a new Jedi order. She started with a few she trained up and others came along and now there are dozens of Jedi. She ended up becoming one with the Force happy to know that she was able to kindle a spark of hope for the galaxy.

A small Jedi Council took over in her place and the Order is growing. There are different rules though, relationships are allowed. Marriage is allowed. Her reasoning being that a single cord can be strong, but one braided with another can be stronger and more reliable. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, and there is a lot for the Jedi to learn still. The council is very leery about being drawn into politics again. They now act as advisors and aid workers to those in need.

The Galactic Alliance is eager to have them back in an official capacity, while the Jedi themselves remember what happened the last time they got involved with government. Their power diminished so much that a Jedi Master sat across a table from a Sith Lord and had no idea. The lessons of the Clone Wars are not lost on this new Jedi Order.

So far the characters all seem to be Imperial-leaning. If that is the case what do you say about focusing mainly on the Imperial Remnant? The galaxy is a big place and with the 3 of us it could be a little too big to worry about pulling the Galactic Alliance into all of this?

I do still want the Jedi Order to figure into this, my Jedi character will actually be traveling to the Remnant on official business. The Sith will still make a return but I'm keeping that idea close to the chest for the moment.

This is all just an idea, we don't have to do this but I figure with just the 3 of us so far and all of us having Imperial characters maybe that's the way to go? Let me know what you all think.

ALL of my character ideas are anti-Imperialism.

With one being a former Imperial.

The legacy character may or may not be a former Imperial it will depend on how I update her for this time period. She also may or may not be a former Darksider.

The other one has never been an imperial.

I apologize, so we won't go with the Empire-centric idea. We can still do the Galaxy at large.

A former Dark-sider? So you mean a Dark Jedi who came back to the light?

In the original, she was a Force-sensitive who was found by the Empire, trained by Palpatine, and eventually turned to the light. Only became a Jedi after leaving the Dark Side. In this new timeline who knows how I will adapt her.

I'm going to continue something Disney has been doing and that's mining the old EU sources. As such I'm opening the doors for old EU pictures to be reused for new characters, ships, etc.

For instance I had a Sith Lord whose face claim was that of Darth Malgus. There is a huge amount of stuff that has been tossed in the "Legends" bin and it would be a shame to not make use of any of it. Especially since there is no new Legends material being created. So feel free to use whatever you come across. This story is a mashup of The Rise of Skywalker story mixed with the Legends "Star Wars Legacy" era. A lot of that will be used here but in new ways.

If nobody's figured out the legacy character I am talking about, I will give you one more hint. She is a red head.

A youtube video gave me an idea for a fourth now a fifth. Maybe I should stop.

I'll try to figure it out toMARA, I'm feeling a little JADEd right now.😂

I miss her being Emperor's hand, Luke's wife, all of that. And it makes far more sense for her and Luke to name their son Ben than it did for Han and Leia to do that. I'll die on that hill.

Of course, it could also be Shira Brie aka Lumiya, Dark Lady of the Sith. But I don't think you're going into her neighborhood.

I'll look forward to that then.

You would have the high ground. We all know how that ended for Anakin and Obi-Wan.

Did not know she had red hair. Most pictures I have seen of her had her hair covered.

I assume you mean Hondo Ohnaka based on search engine's AI answer. He would be dead, I did the math.

If you are not talking about somone else. No clue who. The only other answer search engine AI could provide we saw die in the 8th movie.

Ms. Dyne was a personal invite. I can personally vouch for her writing skills.

I was just saying Hando would be the dead by this point in time with a normal lifespan of his species. That way they can rework their idea or change it. I was not commenting on the quality of the player.

I have been doing this for 20 years give or take as well.

So I'm going to have a Jedi who will be the starter for the Imperial Knights, a Mandalorian named Cassius Priest, and a Soon-to-be Sith Lord.

I'm also tossing around the idea of having Darth Talon in here. For those who don't know she is a Rutian (red-skinned) Twi'lek with Sith tattoos like Darth Maul. Is there anyone interested in including her?

I'm also looking to launch next week. In the meantime let's look at faceclaims and character sheets consisting of
Name
Age
Species
Bio

I am not really doing face claims for my characters. Just artwork I found or made with an AI.
