Age
: 26
Height: 5'8"
Hair: Short and blonde

Origin: Canadian, born and raised in Montreal.

Sam joined the military right after high school. Her father had been a life long military officer in the Canadian Army, and she followed in his footsteps. She graduated from officer training and at first, she joined the RCA (Royal Canadian Artillery) as a forward observer. After the Twilight War began, she quickly re-mustered to the RCAC (Royal Canadian Armoured Corps). She worked her way up to troop commander (4 tank team) but following a tactical nuke strike on the troop's position only her tank survived. On paper she still commands a troop of tanks, but as of yet, no new replacement tanks have been available. Even replacement crews have been hard to come by, forcing tank commanders to take on whoever they can find to fill whatever role is needed.

Personal Equipment:
Weapons
: C8 Assault Rifle, C22 Pistol, Combat knife

Standard issue combat coveralls, combat boots, field cap, tankers helmet with internal comms device.

Rucksack, mess tin, KFS, canteen, Pocket knife, field compass, others TBD

Name: Eris Riley

Rank
: E-4 Senior Airman
Age: 25
Height: 5'11"
Hair: Long and black, often set in a long braid.
Eyes: Light blue.
Origin: Icelandic-American. Born in Seyðisfjörður, Iceland. Raised in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Eris enjoyed a quiet, almost peaceful life growing up in the mystifying, stunning village of Seyðisfjörður. There were few memories left from that time two decades ago. Conflicts grew and political tensions rose, not that she would have understood at such a young age. Her father was a stoic, hulking titan of a man. Worthy of the Viking title of his heritage. Her mother, the kind-hearted, yet stern Senior Master Sergeant of the U.S Air Force who'd tamed the frosted beast. Both had their concerns, so made the decision to return to The States for at least some safety should those in power wish to press that big red button. Inspired by mythical tales of old and her mom's fantastical stories of flight, it was only a matter of time before Eris enlisted to forge her own path. Breezing through training, her parents were ever so proud when she'd been finally cleared to fly! In the cockpit of her F-35 A Lightning II Fighter Jet, she felt truly free. The Twilight War befell them all, with Eris having to battle each day just to prove she deserved to stay in the air. Fuel became increasingly sparse, but the callsign "Valkyrie" were one she planned to live up to. How were she to know her next flight may be the last?

Personal Loadout:
Weapons/Munitions
: Ka-Bar combat knife, Sig Sauer P320-M18 pistol, 4 magazines holding 17 rounds each.

Standard issue olive green Nomex Flight Suit, navy blue undershirt, black combat boots, H10-76 Military Headset, Gentex HGU-55/p helmet (formerly her mother's)

Other equipment wrecked alongside Fighter Jet.

Cassie's family moved to Germany from Dundee when she was a teenage girl. Despite being a fish out of water she very quickly settled down in her new environment, did well at College and was training as a Legal Secretary with a view to taking her Bar exam and becoming a lawyer.

Then the bombs fell. Dresden was saved most of the blast itself, but the mass of people that followed created civil discontent, rioting and eventually small wars over resources. Cassie found everything she had learned in life useless and had to find a way to make herself useful. She managed to use her skills with computers helpful, when she came across a team trying to re-power a broken down hydro-electric dam. She was brought into a small walled town called Unity and instead of resting on her laurels joined the town militia.

It was quickly discovered that Cassie was garbage at shooting but seemed to have a knack with demolitions, explosives and high calibre ordnance. She managed to get a salvaged Howitzer working again and spent most of her time constructing improvised explosives and pip bombs for the Militia.

Then the events of Dark night came and a wandering army of Scavvers assaulted Unity. The town was lost, but Cassie stayed to buy the people of Unity time to escape, using the salvaged Howitzer and her improvised ordnance to devastating effect, causing massive Scavver casualties. Cassie's efforts were witnessed by the Lieutenant who managed to dig her out of the rubble and nurse her back to health.

Cassie is young, bright, keen to learn and ever so slightly crazy. She avoids firearms generally as she's not great with them. But give Cassie and LAW, Javelin or Claymore mines and she's the girl for the job

Personal Equipment:
Weapons

Lily was born in New York City to a British Ex-pat and an American, and lived a generally comfortable life with good access to education and opportunities, but nowhere near extravagance. Her typical family holiday involved flying to visit her grandparents in Birmingham, where they operated a family-run but highly successful mechanics shop. Even from a young age, she would help her grandfather during repair jobs by fetching tools he asked her to bring to him, and by age 10, she was even mentally correcting his slip-ups as to what tool he needed, saving time and earning praise at her aptitude for understanding machines.

After graduating High School in NY, she and her family moved to Birmingham due to the rising fear of nuclear tensions and the strategic value of NYC as a target a crippling blow to the US economy and morale. She enrolled in a polytechnic institute in the UK and was scouted for a job working at a Rheinmetall plant in Düsseldorf, Germany, which was becoming increasingly important due to the growing threat of all-out warfare in Europe especially. After working there for several years, she and most of the civilian engineers who worked at the plant were given leave and relocated to a nearby town that was close enough to commute on a staggered basis, but far enough away that a strategic nuclear strike on the lynchpin factory wouldn't wipe out the workers, whose skills were more important to safeguard than to keep the production going at full-steam.

When the Twilight War hit, that decision proved to be a sound one, with Lily and several other engineers and townsfolk sheltering in a municipal bunker until the sirens stopped blaring. Once the fallout reports came in and the town was cleared for safe resurfacing once the nuclear barrage had decisively ended, Lily stayed behind in the town, as it was close to the industrial heart but much safer to remain in than risk approaching Düsseldorf proper. She used her expertise in mechanics and engineering to scavenge useful parts from abandoned vehicles and machinery, and would barter for food, water, medicine, and various important supplies from passing convoys of vehicles, whether automotive or military, in need of check-ups, repairs, or upgrades.

She eventually joined a passing 'tank unit' consisting of the one tank commanded by Lieutenant Whitlock and Cammie Larson, who offloaded their own shellshocked engineer to the care of the local town where she would face less active combat threats and still be able to help them out, with Lily herself taking over, and having basic military knowhow drilled into her by her new crewmates whenever an opportunity arose. While not a crack-shot by any means, Lily's prowess comes in the form of her quick uptake on the forces and physics at play in front-line combat, bracing herself for AR recoil, calculating bullet drop and drift, as well as GL arcs with uncanny ease after some trial and error. She also prides herself on her guns being very well-maintained and oiled, and never jamming.

She picked up a bit of German in her time working for Rheinmetall, but relies a lot more on the English fluency of her crewmates and basic proficiency of the non-English-native crews and civilians they cross paths with.

We've finally arrived on the European mainland after spending 6 months in England. We crossed the English Channel then were ferried by rail to Germany, then Latvia where we finally settled into the line as part of US III Corps. Everyone seems to think this is going to be a short stay, after all the Russians have been stalled in Ukraine for several years now, so everyone figures they'll back down long before expanding the conflict into something akin to a World War.

–NATO countries continue to build up their forces on the European mainland, naval assets are moving into strategic positions. The UK has become a staging ground as several allied divisions have begun to arrive and undergo final training and preparation. Allied diplomats continue to travel to and from Moscow, hoping to convince the Russians to back down and negotiate in good faith.
–Russians submarine fleets and naval assets have also been moving into position, in preparations for their oncoming offensives. With the help of its allies, counter-intelligence has led the Allies Intelligence services to underestimate their capabilities while massive numbers of military units have been massing along NATO's borders.

Well, it doesn't look like we're going to be home by Christmas after all. It seems due to a massive intelligence failure, we were overwhelmed by the Russian offensive when it began. Our sector held its ground at first, but the unit on our flanks didn't hold as well, and soon our position became untenable. 'Cougar' was hit by a T-90, and she brewed up with all hands, making for the Regiment's first combat casualties. We've managed to pull back to map grid . where we've regrouped with the Brigade Reserve in anticipation for a counterattack.

–The attack came with total surprise, quickly overwhelming the baltic states, forcing forces to undergo a series of withdrawals over the next few weeks. This also left Ukraine's left flank wide open and they were hit hard by Belurusians taking that country completely out of the war. The only thing that kept the Russians from a complete breakout was Allied Air Superiority.
–The Russians had gained complete surprise. With their allies they managed to push the front back into Western Europe by some distance before it settled. They also began a successful undersea campaign, with their latest generations of subs being almost undetectable. Undersea communications were being sabotaged and allied shipping was constantly being harassed by these undersea wolfpacks. Anticipating a heavy allied counterattack in the months to come, the Russians and their allies began to move their nuclear weapons and other strategic weapons into strategic areas. Counter-intelligence work was reinforced, ensuring satellite communications became more and more difficult.

Things are not looking good. Supplies simply aren't coming in and we need them desperately. As we were about to begin Operation Reset, the huge NATO offensive to retake all lost territory, the Russians attacked again, leading some to believe we not only have an intelligence failure, but it's clear the Russians have access to our planning. They hit us hard with tactical nukes, which we were not prepared to deal with. The other two tanks in C Troop were hit and destroyed. Calliope barely escaped, but not without casualty, as our gunner had been outside the tank making last minute preparations and she was killed instantly. We've pulled back some distance from the desolated front into one of the cantonment areas. We're being told communications with higher ups are completely cut off and no shipping is taking place across the channel. We did manage to take on some ammo and rations in Dresden, Germany, and as luck would have it I spotted a friend from the past. As no reinforcements were forthcoming, I grabbed from Brigade HQ and took her in as Calliope's new gunner. She's a crack shot with the main gun, but I need to keep any small arms out of her hands…

–Satellite communications have completely broken down, making short range radios only means of communications left to the military of both sides of the conflict. The Allied Naval fleets have now been crippled by surprised strikes by both subs and tact. Nukes fired from the mainland. The launch of tactical nuclear weapons by both sides was the red line, and these were quickly followed by the much more powerful strategic nuclear missiles. The satellite networks being down made it difficult to detect incoming missiles and so no part of the world has been left entirely untouched. The world in general has been devastated, including the UK which was the hub of NATO's resupply and reinforcements… Of course while the boots on the ground are aware things are not going well, they have yet to learn the extent of the worldwide disaster.
–The Russians underestimated the reply that would come, which had been fast and furious. The Russian Navy was wiped out within hours, except for a few of their subs, and much of their cities and those of their allies now lie in ruins. Their reserves have dwindled and the Russians have begun to mobilize additional forces by drafting by force its citizens.

I was totally on board when it came to cross training our Tank Loaders into Engineers, however in hindsight perhaps it lacked proper investigations. Yes, in the current circumstances having an engineer on board has increased the tank and the unit's survivability, but if everyone knows you have an engineering board, everyone wants to use him. Hence the death of Sergeant Porter, who had been requested to remove the explosives affixed to a bridge. Unfortunately the bridge in question was under enemy observation and our infantry had failed to discover this small detail. A quick burst of machine gun fire and the good Sergeant, who had been with me since the beginning was dead… It took several weeks to find a replacement. While on our last resupply run in Düsseldorf, Germany we met up with an American engineer familiar with the Leopard and its intricacies. To be honest, I find myself thanking my lucky stars, the woman is a genius!

–The supply chain has completely run dry, while while units at the brigade level are trying to hold the line in their sectors, units are being forced to forage and scavenge for parts, equipment and water. Despite the lack of communications it's clear something is very wrong, as very few aircraft are ever seen anymore. With the end of autumn quickly coming, forces are digging in and reinforcing their defenses as best they can for the harsh winter that is to come.
–The Russians and their Pact Allies fare no better. Mass conscription has led to a labour shortage in the agricultural industry making food shortages in the East a real danger. The Russians still enjoy a large force of manpower, however, while that of the allies is beginning to dwindle, making them rely more and more on their higher advanced equipment, assuming they can keep it all running.

Well, I'm still alive, so that's good, I suppose. We're receiving no mail or word on what's going on back home. There are rumors that the world has been devastated by nuclear strikes, though we can't get any confirmation. The spring has arrived and with it, disaster struck once again. Private Jones, Calliope's driver for the past two years was killed by a sniper as she stood watch atop the tank while the rest of us were enjoying a wash in a clear pond. The only satisfaction we got was watching Cammie fire an HE round and vaporizing the prick. Looking over the bits of him that remained, he didn't look like a Russian regular soldier, but rather a marauder. These are becoming more and more plentiful out in the field. What drove the fool to take on a Leopard tank with a sniper rifle we'll never know. Deserters, mercenaries and overall scavengers. They seem to be forming groups moving around the countryside taking whatever they want from the few innocents that remain. We had barely finished burying Jones before our attention was drawn to the sky, when a US marine fighter was seen streaking across towards the horizon. This would have been a common sight two years back, but this was the first aircraft we'd seen in over 6 months. A second later the left wing on the F-35 was struck by a surface to air missile, it shattered in midair and the craft went down a few miles towards the front line… A parachute was spotted, but only briefly…
