Five years ago, he escaped. muse a was the only one who ever did.
No one knew how he survived weeks in that basementโ chained, beaten, starved, and worse. No one knew what words were whispered to him in the dark, what games were played with his sanity. All anyone saw were the scars and vacant eyes when he was finally found on the side of the road, barefoot and bleeding. He rebuilt his life under a new name, in a new city. Quiet bookstore job. Therapy. A rescue dog to calm the constant nightmares. But deep down, muse a never truly felt freeโ he knew the man who took him (muse b) wasn't done. And he was right.
The murders have started again. Same signature. Same taunting messages left for the police. And then...the package arrives at his apartment: a single black feather. A photo of himself leaving work.

surviving in a country where technology continues advancing at a rapid pace and the government continues to corrupt itself even more, you have to do whateverโs necessary. muse a, a mechanic who occasionally does โodd jobsโ for the right price, finds himself bloody and barely clinging onto consciousness in a dark alleyway after being ambushed during what he thought was a small side gig. muse b is a paramedic called to the scene after receiving reports of a disturbance and several gunshots in the slums of the city. muse a's refusal to go to the hospital to be treated by medical professionals is odd despite his numerous injuries, and upon finding out that he has illegal cybernetic enhancements, muse b has a choice: turn him in, or treat muse a himself in order to keep everything under wraps.

muse a has always lived on the fringes. a failing musician with a brutal tongue and a tendency to self-destruct, he spends his nights in dive bars, performing songs no one listens to and drowning his bitterness in cheap liquor. the only constant in his life is the perpetual anger simmering in his chestโ at the world, at himself, at the past he refuses to confront. one night, stumbling through the back alleys after a gig, he's attacked by something he can't fully see: all teeth, claws, and blazing golden eyes. but before he loses consciousness, a stranger (muse b) appears from the shadows, fighting off the beast with inhuman strength and dragging muse a to safety. Ever since that night, muse a keeps seeing a large wolf stalking the streets of the city and standing guard outside of his home. And while he knows he should feel scared, muse a feels anything but.
After all, dog is man's best friend...right?
