In 2009, after the war between Autobots and Decepticons ended the Malto family moved to California because Alex got a job teaching at the University of California. Dot retired to focus on raising her children.
The person they sold their house to is a writer who needed someplace far from the hustle and bustle of NYC. She needed less distractions and the peace and quiet so she could write. When she wasn't attempting to write she would explore the area around her house. In 2010, she stumbled upon a cave that housed strange water and an even stranger crystal. Figuring she could sell the crystal for a boatload of money. She figured she could pay back the advance she was given if needed and live off the remaining money, until she could get her book published. Upon touching the strange crystal she found two weird sleeves on her arms and two or more robots.
The war between the Autobots and Decepticons had only been for a year but it was to begin again for the control of the Emberstone and fate of the Terrans.
