This plot is loosely inspired by Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, but familiarity with it is not required.

YC is a woman living in her prime in the 20th century. She has a job, friends, and a boyfriend, and she’s travelling to Norway. Perhaps as part of a vacation, or because she or her partner is a historian. While there, she hears tales of a witch coven rumoured to convene around a circle of standing stones. Curious, she decides to see it for herself. At first, she observes from a distance, captivated by the primal, almost otherworldly atmosphere.

The next morning, she ventures to the stones alone. She touches one and faints. When she awakens, she is no longer in modern Norway. The public transport, the police, the peace… all gone. Instead, she finds herself among a group of strange, fierce-looking men: clad in thick furs, hair braided or long, speaking a language she does not understand, and radiating raw power, violence, and lust.

At first she thought she had been found by drug addicts. Though reluctant as she is to admit it, the men who captured her are not hallucinating: they are Vikings. YC realises she has been plunged into 9th-century Norway. They bring her to their chieftain, expecting her to be sold as a slave. But the chieftain, Ivar, shocks everyone by granting her a place in his longhouse indefinitely. It is not a hotel, but it is safe… for now. Ivar’s motives, however, may not be entirely selfless.

The next day, a party of raiders returns home, led by none other than Leif, Ivar’s only son. Heir to the chieftainship, Leif is a warrior in his prime, veins pumping with adrenaline and desire. But unlike his father, Leif cares little for politics or duty. Instead, he craves blood, plunder, glory, and freedom. Ivar has tried everything to restrain his wild son. Now, he has one final plan - and it involves YC.

A marriage.

As the chieftain, Ivar’s word is law. Leif can shout, brood, and throw whatever he wants—but in the end, he must obey. One day she was on a quiet vacation; the next, YC finds herself betrothed to a man she didn’t even know.
