✦ THE PREMISE:
Hullo!
I've been wanting to try my hand at writing sci-fi, and I think I'm finally ready to dive headfirst into the genre.
This particular idea actually came to me in a dream/which is probably what happens when you sleep as much as I do. Apparently, my brain decided to use all that time productively.
The basic premise is this:
My character is someone living in 2026 who has become increasingly tired of life. Not necessarily because of one catastrophic event, but because it feels like they've spent the entire decade dealing with one piece of bad luck after another amongst the rising costs and shitty mindset of society.
They live in a busy city, struggle to make meaningful connections, have difficulty maintaining steady employment, and generally feel like they never quite managed to fit into the society around them.
Eventually, they reach a point where they decide:
A'ight I'm out.
So they sell everything they own and volunteer for an experimental cryogenic preservation program.
If it works, fantastic.
If it doesn't...
Well, they weren't exactly thrilled with their life anyway.
Thankfully, it works.
Just not quite as expected.
They wake up in the year 2126, 100 years in the future and 46 years past their assigned wake-up time (uh oh law suit incoming)
✦ A CENTURY LATER...
Now they have to figure out how to live in a world that has had one hundred years to change.
Technology has advanced far beyond anything they knew.
Society has changed.
Cities have changed.
Medicine has changed.
Jobs have changed.
Social norms have changed.
Things that were considered futuristic or experimental in 2026 may now be so ordinary that people don't even think twice about them.
Meanwhile, my character has essentially skipped an entire lifetime of technological and cultural development.
Imagine knowing what a smartphone is but being handed something that makes your smartphone look like a cave man's favorite rock.
Imagine understanding the concept of artificial intelligence while discovering that AI is now integrated into everyday life in ways you never could have imagined.
Imagine walking through a city you recognize geographically, only to realize that almost nothing about it is familiar anymore.
And, perhaps worst of all...
Everyone expects you to know how things work.
✦ YOUR CHARACTER
You can bring your own OC!
There are two main possibilities, although I'm completely open to other ideas:
[1] Another Cryogenic Patient.
Your character was also frozen, but they were awakened several years earlier.
Perhaps they've already gone through the process of adapting to 2126 and understand what it's like to be displaced from their own time.
[2] A Native of 2126
Your character was born in this era and has never known anything else.
For whatever reason, they're the person who ends up helping my character navigate this strange new world.
Maybe it's their job.
Maybe they volunteered.
Maybe they're simply curious.
Maybe they have their own reasons for taking an interest in someone who essentially skipped a century of history.

✦ WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
This doesn't have to become a romance.
Romance is absolutely an option if the characters naturally develop feelings for one another, but I'd rather let the relationship develop organically.
Friendship, companionship, rivalry, found family, mentorship, romance, or something completely unexpected are all possibilities.
I'd love to explore things like:
«Culture shock.
There can absolutely be darker cyberpunk elements, mysteries, conspiracies, action, slice-of-life moments, or whatever else we come up with together.

I'm looking for someone who is actually interested in exploring the premise with me, rather than just rushing toward a predetermined plot.
I'm also a certified yapper, especially when I'm comfortable with someone or we're discussing something I'm genuinely interested in.
Communication is important to me.
If you think an idea is stupid, tell me.
If you don't like the direction the RP is going, tell me.
If you have an idea that could make the story more interesting, tell me.
I genuinely pride myself on being able to adapt, so I'm more than happy to discuss ideas, change things around, or completely rethink something if we both feel the story would benefit from it.
The hardest part is finding someone interested enough in the premise to actually explore it with me.
So if waking up one hundred years in the future and realizing you don't recognize your own world anymore sounds like something you'd enjoy...
