Trigger Warning!!!! Self Harm

You have a story to tell
I still hear those words to this day
A scent when roses is all I can smell
The sound of Daghtry's September in the air
Yes, I had a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

Of all the things I still remember
Summer's never looked the same
The years go by and time just seems to fly
But the memories remain

The songs which played that night
With the lights all about us so bright
There you were, hair done up so perfect
The dress, and the shoes, all to impress
Yes, I had a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

I blame myself
How can I not
I was blind to the cracks
We all were so blind
Yes, I had a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

Of all the things I still remember
Summer's never looked the same
The years go by and time just seems to fly
But the memories remain

There were the gifts
Items so precious and dear
Mending bad blood, rekindling old love
All ending here, the one last perfect night for you
Yes, I had a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

Then came the note I found
When you went out for air
The sense of dread in me
As I read you say you were sorry
Yes, I had a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

Of all the things I still remember
Summer's never looked the same
The years go by and time just seems to fly
But the memories remain

I ran as fast as I could
I called you, begging for an answer
I was fast, fastest there was there
I was not fast enough
Yes, I had a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

Breathe!
I could hear myself say
As they counted the compressions
Please baby! Just breathe please
BREATHE!
Yes, I had a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

Of all the things I still remember
Summer's never looked the same
The years go by and time just seems to fly
But the memories remain

Time passes, wounds heal
People come up to me, hug me
Tears spilling down their cheeks
Telling me thank you for my story
Yes, I had story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

In the middle of September we'd still play out in the rain
Nothing to lose but everything to gain
Reflecting now on how things could've been
It was worth it in the end

Frantic sounds, cursing, chaos and confusion
I am there frantic, being pulled away
Then it comes, four words I will always remember
"We have a pulse!"
Yes, I have a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

I am lucky for my relief
I am lucky for my anger
I am lucky for my forgiveness
Not all are so lucky
Yes, I have a story to tell
But I wish I did not have to tell it

Inspired by Leap of Faith by Drifty at DriftyGames. Dedicated to C. and all who think there is no other way out. You are not alone, even a stranger can help you in in your darkness, all you need to do is hold on and don't let go. Help is out there, I swear. Do not become another story. We have too many of those already. Also dedicated to those of you who are left behind, family and friends and loved ones. We know your pain, we know your grief, and no, you are not alone either.
