With this rejection from power, the king had started a crusade to murder any and everyone who had a spark of magic, to include his own family members. During the midst of wiping his own land clean of anything magic-related, the queen gave birth to his child. Devlin was born and raised to assume the mantle as the king was rapidly aging, due to unknown reasons. He had to learn quickly and something stirred within him that what his father was doing wasn't right, no matter how convicted the king was. His parents, Liam and Ilana Coventry, were the heads of the Hunter's Guild, an establishment that had been around for thousands of years. No one was entirely sure how long the Guild had survived but it had weathered time and societal changes while remaining consistent. Hunters had to train to adapt their bodies to the harsh reality of what they hunted. When they were born, Hunters were just like any other human. However, with training and deadly situations, they earned enhanced strength, faster reflexes, higher endurance, and other modifications depending on the line of Hunter they hailed from. A lot was expected from Wesley, even from a young age. The perfect Hunter while only using his skills in boardrooms, parties, and politics. That's what he was supposed to be. When push came to shove, the boy had other ideas. What they Hunted could be summarized in one broad category: The supernatural. Witches, sirens, wolves, vampires, everything that human only new fairy tales and myths about. Even some who would be mistaken as gods. Their creed was simple. They were to protect humans from the supernatural at all costs. Over time, this evolved into protecting each race from each other. Sometimes humans would get caught in the crossfire. Sometimes, even other supernatural beings would pay the ultimate price. That was when the Guild intervened. As threats grew, so did the Hunters. Their weapons changes. Their methods became more complex. And with all of that excitement in the world, his parents wanted him suited and at meetings. Which would have been an absolute waste.
