Hello! Gonna try and keep this short since I'm a blabber. Things I'm looking for:
  • Equal ability to contribute to the story
  • Strong, confident communication
  • Plot-first partner: if romance does not happen, then I don't mind. But I am willing to work with you to make it happen--I'd like to test the idea that romance happens as a result of good storytelling. I'm happy to do any type of queer romance, and sometimes straight romance if my partner tends to avoid gender expectations. I prefer to write equal, balanced relationships even when they are strange or begin in a negative place.
  • Low smut ratio: anywhere from zero to 30% is probably good, but I can tolerate more if the smut has a goal other than being sexy (ex. being hilarious)
  • Self-aware separation between character and writer
  • Descriptive writing (optional depending on genre)
  • Psychological development: I usually ask myself several things about my character. What do they want? How are they going to get it? What beliefs, mistaken or otherwise, do they hold? How has their upbringing impacted their worldview and behavior? I find it goes well when my partner has a similar level of insight into their character.
Stuff I can offer you, in addition to the above:
  • Proactive partner that occasionally floods you with ideas
  • Partner with an engineer's personality (as opposed to a poet's)
  • Action!
  • Humor, adventure, sci-fi, fantasy, crime, general optimism about humanity and life with a side of horrible darkness potato salad
  • A balanced story that is not all darkness or all sunshine
  • Combat scenes with varying levels of violence ranging from cartoon to horrible things with consequences. Combat is not necessary for a good story.
    • I keep meticulous track of limbs and objects, and I know about the ol’ give and take. I’ve found it takes an incredible communicator to write combat, so please keep that in mind if you want to go here.
  • Flawed characters, underdogs, people who aren't that special but will become that way through their actions in the story
  • Difficult problems with no real solution, such as moral problems
  • Trope deconstruction and subversion
    • I seriously love subversion. Unfortunately, I think this can put some people off big time. I don't want to surprise you (except when it's fun), so talk to me about this if you think it'll be an issue!
  • Relationship and character development through shared challenges
  • Some mild worldbuilding & having side characters in the name of creating a fun setting
    • "Mild" is subjective. To give you an example, if I'm writing a military man, I might put some thought into where his encampment is set up for tactical advantage, what the structure of his regiment is, what his daily routines are, for what reason there is or is no war in the setting, etc. This is way too much for some people, but I enjoy adding that kind of detail and making it relevant.
We probably won't work well if you want to write these, but I never say never and will dip in here for the right story:
  • Pure slice of life, pure romance, drama as a genre, character-driven stories
  • Pure smut, smokin' hot sexy pretty characters
  • Gender roles played straight, even in queer relationships (this includes seme/uke, dom/sub, top/bottom, and sometimes butch/femme)
  • Abuse, unequal relationships
  • Extreme trauma or mental illness (100% dark cacao, I can do ya 70% at best)
  • Power fantasy played straight
  • Semi-literate writing. Typos are fine, I just need to be able to read it!
Here are a few summarized starter plots we can build on if you don’t currently have any ideas. I can go into more detail in chat, and everything is subject to change if you have suggestions. As you will see, I like stuff that is a little unusual for roleplayers (read: I'm a weirdo).

A visits B, a prisoner or a gladiator, likely in a fantasy setting in the vein of D&D. A is busting B out because A needs B’s knowledge or abilities for their own agenda, but various parties stand in the way and will move to intercept or kill A and B.
Here's a request thread for a particular variant of this idea, with an experimental, campy tone: the High Riser has captured a black dragon and turned him into a human, and now plans to execute him publicly in a gladiator ring.

Taken for now, but I'd be willing to do a different genre instead of full fantasy
A is a powerful wizard who has been tasked with maintaining a country's magic barrier, but something has gone awfully wrong! A looks incompetent and even criminal. But the country still needs A's abilities and knowledge to stem the incoming threat: they attach investigator/hero/knight B to watch over A as the two work together to solve the new crisis.

A, a member of a modern cybercriminal group, gets tangled with other criminals and law enforcement when a job goes well and an insane payout is had by his group, which falls apart over the money. B is a corrupt cop, an upstanding cop, a hitman, a criminal, etc. Many ways this could go depending on what you want to bring--let’s talk it out. For this one, I have a rough character concept in mind for A, who is kind of this seedy, little bit gross fella.

Character A is a wizard's cat familiar, or some other cat-sized creature. This wizard has recently set up in a town and the locals are very happy because the wizard tower has been standing empty for centuries. B could be anyone: perhaps the wizard, or perhaps a knight rides into town one day and B is the horse! 100% no smut and no human form transformation in this story. Even romance may not be on the table depending on the character you bring. Just looking to have some silly fun shenanigans happen in a slice of life-ish manner, where we both throw some appropriately sized challenges at the main characters: probably involves humor, action, and writing lots of side characters to give the wizard quests. Could work as Modern, Fantasy, Modern Fantasy, or even another genre.

Character A travels to another country to get a boob job, but when she returns home, she finds out that the doctor stole her nipples. She is nippleless; her fresh new boobs are completely smooth and unadorned. Oh, the horror! Could be modern, could be fantasy. Does she put up a real good fight and try to get her nip nops back? Does she win or lose, and if she loses, does she eventually come to terms with it? If she wins, how is she going to reattach them...?

In a more humorous, self-aware vein, A is a Mary Sue and B is on the surface much less impressive and for some reason resistant to their charms. Mary Sue might be able to do anything or have anything or win anything for completely nonsensical reasons, but character B remains totally unmoved by this...because character B has the belief that power, beauty, and ability are separate from a person's quality. There are a lot of ways this could go, but genre is probably parody/humor/superhero.
Also happy to do a separate romance genre parody of ALL the tropes! Love me some absolute ridiculousness: for example, a male lead who is a registered sex offender for the way he flirts...?

This could be any setting: modern, fantasy, etc. Basically, the idea is to do a slow burn enemies to lovers, but in the most obviously transparent and idiotic manner possible, with deranged communication styles that are somehow actually healthy--perhaps these two strange people who live on the fringes are lucky enough to meet and somehow understand each other. I'd like to play with the idea that each relationship is unique to the individuals involved, and what may work for one person does not work for other people. If you like, you could consider this a "soulmate" situation: some people are just not compatible with anybody except someone who shares their particular strangeness. So bring your unhinged character ideas and let's see if we can set them up to be pretty wholesome.

Since it may not be clear what this means, here is one possible example: take a violent, angry person who loves to fight and is looking for a rival. When they find their rival, they have a lot of fun fighting and arguing, and the challenge for us is to write that in a healthy manner that benefits both characters. This idea works well with monsters such as werewolves and vampires.

For this one, I'd like to write a socially maladjusted character who does their clumsy best to court another character, who is reluctant or chilly for some reason. Why are they courting the other? Could be just because they think the other character is cool or hot, could be because of arranged marriage shenanigans, could be something much more unusual, etc. There is no concept of soulmates or love at first sight here--this is a story based on the idea that love is mundane, and built over time by making the choice to build it up every day. As a result, we should probably work together on giving them challenges that will keep them apart, since a story goes nowhere without conflict. Also happy to write a situation where the courtship does not work out.

Any setting, and would like to avoid pure introspective slice of life without events in the real world. I think it could be quite fun to write this between two spirits or fantasy creatures: how can we use their powers as part of the courtship? Or perhaps between two mundane, common souls: perhaps a sea-tossed sailor that often has to leave, and somebody else who lives in a seaside town--some epistolary elements might be fun here. Keep in mind if you'd like to do the character being courted that things generally go better if you think hard about what your character desires the most. Not having a clear idea about what your character will like or enjoy makes this prompt tough to write in a compelling manner.

A couple of side characters embark on their own unnoticed quest. For example, in a heroic fantasy plot where a pair of famous, powerful knights go on a quest to slay a dragon, we'd be following two average guards who perhaps discover a plot against the heroes and resolve it without anyone even knowing! I think it would be cool if the heroes were kind of there in the background constantly, ex. the main characters followed them around or something. Can be any genre, though the listed example is probably humor/fantasy/action.

Character A is genre savvy. Depending on the genre you're interested in, this could go many ways. Romance? Character A knows how to dodge every single possible romance-inciting event. The world throws eligible hot people at them in a slew of potential meet-cutes, but they dodge like a pro! Noir/mystery? The femme fatale comes calling with a case, but A simply refuses to take the case, even if times are tough and they need the money. Cue femme fatale breaking their mold to force the story to start...! Open to other genres, or mixed genres to throw off A's game.

In a post-apocalyptic world, robot patrols left over from a mysterious war that never ended still walk the wasteland. Their behavior is predictable and well understood by survivors and scrappers. One day, they all change their behavior at once. Genre is probably modern/sci-fi, could be fantasy or other though. This is not a space story unless we want it to be one. I'm kind of envisioning a bleak end-of-the-world scenario where even if the characters we follow get a 'happy' end, humanity is kind of screwed.

A and B find themselves trapped in a strange, sterile habitat by very advanced aliens that want to study them (maybe Tralfamadorians of Slaughterhouse Five vibes). Probably sci-fi, a lot of ways this could go. Want humor? Doable. Want angst and psychological horror? Also doable. Want a thrilling escape adventure? You get the gist, doable.

Also open to other ideas!

🐥 ABOUT ME
  • Chars 25+, also prefer to write with people 25+ but 30+ might be better for both of us
  • Prefer picking up on written description over using faceclaims. No issues with faceclaims, but I generally don't have a strong interest in appearance beyond how a character's life has impacted it.
  • Always third person, tense negotiable
  • I’m a collaborative, open-minded writer that aims to move story along and isn’t afraid to make characters lose. Also zero issues with writing character conflict.
  • Open to writing smut, but minimal experience so expect hilarity. Also cool with fade-to-black. Very comfortable with violence, though I tend to avoid writing characters that will just let themselves be abused. Discuss limits with me!
  • Generally write proactive characters with strong drives to action, which may influence plot direction in unexpected ways. If you are more of a collaborative writer who doesn't want to be surprised, I am also happy to work with you in that style. We should discuss your usual approach so there aren't any issues. Also, I focus a lot on the world outside my character because I like providing things for my partner to interact with.
  • I'm not really here for wish fulfillment or escapism, just to have fun and maybe learn a thing or two. So I'm down to include difficult topics such as homophobia, dystopian structures, etc. I will say that I intend to handle these topics with sensitivity and self-awareness if you are interested.
📜 COMMUNICATION
  • Prefer talking OOC and maybe making a friend (RP is better if you know what your partner likes)
  • Very forward and proactive personality. If you're cool with both "yes, and..." and "no, but...", we'll work well. Don’t fear talking to me about anything you need to keep having fun.
  • Very open to constructive criticism. About my writing, about OOC communication, about how I handle plot and move the story along...I want to hear it!
  • If you need a break, just let me know. No problem!
  • Generally available on weekdays for OOC communication
✏️ POSTING
  • Expect average post to be 200-600 words
  • Flexible post length based on situation. Prefer shorter posts during snappy dialogue or fast scenes with interaction
  • Would like to avoid long posts full of dialogue where the next post must respond to each line one at a time. Let's try and make it read more like a book if possible...but I know oftentimes that is not possible!
  • Post frequency varies from multiple times a week to as low as once a week. I'll say I average once a week. Short posts I can do with more frequency.
