Hello there!

This is a bit odd for me, not being able to divulge and real personal information. That's usually my go-to when I write these introductions, but surely I'll be fine nonetheless!

I am 26 years of age, and a girl. That much I will share. Heck, I am not even sure how relevant that is. '^' I guess it is relevant because I do only tend to play female ''story-progressing'' characters. In other words I am not adverse to portray some male characters as long as they are a side characters or a random stranger out in the woods for a small portion of the role play.

I've role played for roughly eight years, and when I started out my English was quite broken (not that it's perfect in any shape or form at the moment). Through role playing I cultivated my interest in the language and developed both in general and as a role player. I've gone from doing short one-sentence posts in an IM setting, to doing multi-paragraph posts on forums. As I developed, I found it harder and harder to be satisfied with role play unless the player was at or beyond my own level as a writer. At this point I imagine I sound like someone thinking they stand above others, but that's not at all what I mean! I simply seek to, in every play I do, to further myself and improve and enjoy it in as high level as possible. So I figure that if I press myself to such extent, why can't I ask for whoever I play with to aim for their very best as well?
With all that said, I've yet to find a site I am entirely happy with. The sites I've tried in the past have all focused too hard on a pre-determined setting, one that required a lot of work to get into. It felt almost claustrophobic to be trapped in a world created by someone else. I like to create the setting and everything around it together as we play!

When I play I do prefer when the other parties involved challenge me. Just because I imply that I have an idea for the role play going forward, that doesn't mean they have to just accept that. Obviously I would expect them to have their characters react and act according to who they are. Otherwise we might as well just send some word documents back and forth and continously edit and add stuff until we're both satisfied!

Wow, okay. I see I droned on a bit there. Anyway, you can always approach me with ideas as long as the rules allow it.

Thank you for reading this ridiculously long and self-glorifying introduction post!

See you all out there in the Sanctum.

Welcome to the Inner Sanctum Eiko! I think I'll headpat for the moment, it's too late at night for fight starting :D

Enjoy the site! And be sure to let any of us staff know if you need help finding your way around.

Actually, I do have a question! I read all the suggested threads but I am still unsure of how to go about starting a new play with someone. Do I open a thread and wait for people to join, or do I seek them out in the request thread first? Are the options mutually exclusive, or is it up to me?

It's up to you. We have an open roleplay forum (unfinished tales) where you can post roleplays anyone can join freely. Other than that, you can post a request thread of your own and wait for responses or look through what other people have already posted and contact them if you see something you like. I'd generally suggest doing both, if you're inclined—much faster at finding people and gives you a place to store all your ideas.

Thank you once again! I will look into both as I've set up my character!

Hello there Eiko. Welcome to the Sanctum. I heavily share your sentiment of how someone both player should challenge each other on similar levels of writing. I'd love to write with you some time if you're ever looking for a partner, and I do believe I could keep up with you. :) I've only got two plays going right now, one much slower than the other, so I'm very much open to taking on another!

I am pleased to hear that. I have an interesting setting stewing in the back of my mind that I'll be working on beginning sometime today or tomorrow in the open RP thread. Keep an eye out! :) Thank you for the very warm welcome ♥
