Salutations gentleman, gentlewomen, and gentlefolk. I am Lire of Past Lives, though Lire or LP are suitable abbreviations. The quote above is one of my personal favorites. It symbolizes my relationship with role playing and what it means to me. The stories we create and the universes we summon from the depths of our competency survive even after the roleplay has ended. The faces may morph, relationships fall to ash, but the very essence of the character survives and is reborn, either as a different being or recreated into a new universe. While not of flesh and blood, they are still very much alive in the universes we create. Perhaps they are the friends or lovers we've longed for, perhaps a new life we seek for ourselves to be lived through them. Either way, roleplay is an escape as well as a formation of new, better realities. At least, that is my take on it.
