But here we go anyway.
This is mostly going to be a stream of consciousness, so don't look for anything too put together. I like YGO and I want to translate it into a role-play. Is that possible, given the fact that YGO is a card game based largely on skill and slightly on the luck of the draw? No, not really. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's impossible and this won't ever work. However, I'm typing this regardless because I'm stubborn and I can write anything.
Due to the fact that Dueling in a role-play based environment is like asking to make glass by punching sand, this will be massively story-based and might even take place in two locations, i.e. VRAINS (please watch the current YGO anime, it is excellent). So there would be a "real-life" and a "video game" VR simulation where the actual Yu-Gi-Oh part would take place, a "Second Life" kind of thing with card games. That way we can have character development and the story isn't just repeated Duels. Good idea? Who knows, I know I don't.
As to exactly HOW Dueling would go...eh, I'm loose on the idea. I'm thinking the actual Duels are free form in text and we just flip a coin beforehand to see who wins. That way even the card game aspect can be story-motivated, and it's not like wins and losses really mean much. That and we'll be the main characters anyway so the whole "coin flip" thing will only come into effect for plot-specific or player versus player Duels if we're rivals or whatever.
Still with me? Not at all? That's alright, me neither. Let's get to expectations if for SOME REASON you're still reading this absolute shit show of a plan.
1. Please at least know what YGO is, and it'd be GREAT if you knew the modern game. I'll teach anyone that genuinely wants to do this (why you would I don't know), but the less I have to teach, the better. Plus modern YGO is pretty goddamn complicated with all the moving pieces, and there's a billion cards.
2. Please be able to hold your own in a story. This cannot be a "leader/follower" type scenario (unless that's how the characters are defined in relation to each other). What I mean is one person can't be leading every plot advancement because this would never go anywhere. Two people who feel comfortable moving the story, and we can always talk outside of the RP for any questions.
3. I'm a substantial writer, so like 3-5 paragraphs please. I don't need a novel, but I enjoy description and internal character development and reactions to the world around them and blah blah blah. It's fun, write more than what your character physically sees. Big world out there. Card games on motorcycles.
4. What a horrible idea that will almost certainly fail immediately. I'm all in. Is this an expectation? Kind of.
Alright, shoot me a PM or reply below or something. Thanks for reading this, you'll never get those minutes back. I have robbed you.
