This takes place in a high fantasy medieval Earth.
MC is a princess of nineteen years old and her father, King Ferdinand, has been fighting a war against a sect of elves that call themselves The Pale Ones… they are ethereally beautiful with white blonde hair, flesh as fair as moonlight and eyes such a pale blue, it's almost silver.
Their magic is derived from the moon and stars, they detest the sun and regard it as their sworn enemy.
Rumors say it is The Pale Ones' goal to shroud the sun in darkness and claim the Earth for the moon's silver glow.
When a Pale One elf is caught and imprisoned in the dungeons below, MC is terribly curious and decides to bribe the guards to go away long enough for her to speak with this mysterious individual for a while. After all, he was chained up, what harm could he do?
MC finds the elf to be very gentle in nature, very timid and frightened. He insists the rumors about his people are false and the human king just wants them out of their mountain home because he yearns for the precious metals in their natural mines.
She comes back to visit with him several times and eventually hatches a plan to steal the guards keys and free the 'innocent' elf before her father can have him executed.
Well, MC puts her plan into action and once she gets all the chains off him (chains etched with magic dampening runes), his timid and frightened facade falls and she is met with a confident and intimidating individual who reveals he is in fact the leader of The Pale Ones and to thank her for all her lovely visits in which he got to know her and now his freedom, he will be taking her with him to his mountain castle and making her his bride. He says her agreement is not necessary, but she could make things easier on herself by coming with him voluntarily.
Aside from liking her immensely, marrying MC is beneficial to his cause as she is the heir to the human kingdom and as her husband.... once the king falls... the kingdom is now his by right.
He would be the smart kind of villain, he wouldn't postpone marrying the princess for a month or even two weeks to have a more lavish ceremony, no, he would just quietly and quickly marry her in a small civil ceremony and avoid giving any 'heroes' time to intervene.
This is slightly rough draft, but as long as the bits I really want remain, we can totally discuss about adding and expanding :)
The picture is a must use, it inspired the whole thing.
