((This is the second part of my character "introduction" style in the form of a chaotic plot, focusing this time on completely different ones! You can find the first part here))
Joyous tunes were flying through the air, one voice joining another. That's how things always were in the Sheets of the Wind tavern; the grasshoppers skipped from one side of the room to another as they delivered the customers' drinks, the bartenders joggled wooden cups behind the counter and all visitors gained amnesia for all of their problems. It was filled with high spirits and all souls that lived in the city knew far too well just how lucky they were to be around this hotbed of positive energy. It wasn't uncommon for all employers to come along and pour their heart out through the above written song, lyrics which, by now, were considered alike an anthem. The melody described the area perfectly, and so it was no surprise to see people bumping their jugs against the table in order to accompany their voices.
Between those who were fortunate enough to find empty seats, a trio was around a table nearby the performing zone. What caught the attention to many was their nature - all quite small in comparison to the more barbaric looking individuals that were drowning themselves in beer. At first, men whistled at the sight. Why wouldn't they? At least two out of the three were sure to be girls and the other one wasn't bad looking either, though they all just thought the latter was a flimsy boy. At each heard whistle, one of the girls would giggle innocently as she gave little, polite waves in return. Every single time that happened, the other two would scold her, given that Sophia had no idea what harm that sort of interaction was causing. She was a sweetie, a bit over the top as that lent to her naivety during social encounters. She was one that could always be found talking about fairy tales and exposing utopian ideals to everybody.
"Sorry... I can't help it! They all look like such great guys!"
That was her excuse which she wholeheartedly believed in, but the more ambiguous of the three couldn't agree no matter the way or time Sophia said it.
"You always think everybody's "good". Snap outta it, will ya? They're disgusting, look at them! All drenched in alcohol. Their faces are all so freaking punchable."
This was the only time an outsider would be able to exactly identify what the individual was. The tomboy wasn't one to show her feminine side, mainly due to the jobs she was carrying. Nala was a soldier, and a good one at that, but her sharp tongue and over all character wasn't ladylike at all.
After she said all of that, she took another sip out of her own beverage. To be frank, she wasn't one to come around such environments, but being dragged out of the ordinary by the other two wasn't something she could fight much against. Her frame was weak, not that much of a body to body fighter since she was a much better strategist, so there was no way for her to free herself from the grasp of her friends.
The sip ended with a thud. Nala pushed the wooden cup forcefully down onto the table as yet another catcall was heard.
"Oh? So you're a woman as well? I quite like your attitude, Braidy, but don't you think you're being a bit too... harsh? Loosen up, we're all friends in here!~"
Those sentences were enough. The tomboy stood up, turned herself around as to face the source, though she was quickly grasped by the wrist by the last one of the three. "H-hey... Calm down! It's not worth it...", she whispered, her ears lowering against her hair in an attempt to further her claim.
"I got the chance to finally punch a shithead! Whaddaya mean it ain't worth it?!"
And with that, Nala hitched her arm away, freeing her hand due to the sudden movement. Without listening to any other calls, she approached the man as her glare shot at the stranger's face. She hated it, that expression of entitlement which he seemed to have, those glasses that would look so much better if she were to shatter them, that raised chin and cocky smile that he so confidently exposed. On the other side, Norbert didn't see anything but the fire which the girl was approaching him with. He found that sort of attitude quite rare between girls and, as much as he adored toying with the easy type, he desired to taste some other cuisines as well. With a rather welcoming look, his head tilted slightly to the side and his position shifted to a comfortable, relaxed stance as he leaned back in his seat. "Did you decide to join me, perhaps?", he said with a half-assed smirk, and so his hand traveled over to the empty seat next to him, patting it a few times. "Or would you rather keep the seat empty for your friend?" The mock was greeted with a slight raise of his eyebrows before they went back down, given that Emyru was coming towards them, obviously just so she could try and bring the tomboy back to their own table. His words were only a mask, given that his touch did no other but shift from the wooden furniture to the top of his thigh, giving it a light pat yet again. "There's room for everybody!~ I got two legs and something more."
At this point, all the teasing reached its peak for Nala. A low cuss slipped through her gritted teeth as she reached over, grabbing the man by the collar of his shirt. She knew, however, that she couldn't do as much as she wanted to without gaining more attention from the other locals of the tavern. She jerked him closer, Norbert not opposing to the style at all and offering a raised eyebrow in return. "Spicy", he muttered, and before anything else were to have happened, the tomboy was finally grabbed and pulled away by her friend. The captive tried to fiddle her way out of the grasp, though it didn't take long before all spirits were cut by the sound of a loud cough.
The throat that was cleared came from the performing scene itself. In that little time where the focus was away from that corner, few people gathered there, some with instruments while others just idly waved their bodies around as if to energize themselves with little dancey moves. One of them took a last look into his pocket mirror, fixing his hair and attire before tucking it down into the pocket of his pants. He had to look perfect for the audience. There was another beside him that had no other instrument, that being the man who just silenced the room.
"It's time for today's show, pals! I've got the honour to be here with my fancy partner over there", he said as he turned his face to point at the Phoenix next to him, "I'm sure all of you know him by now, he's quite popular in this area of the country." With that introduction, the fiery coloured one bowed his upper body forward, one of his hands spread across his chest as the other arm extended back, grabbing his winged cloak by its edge and spreading it to the side as to open it up. "Rakan, at your service!~", he added with a smile, and with that done, he straightened himself back up. "Aaaaand this lil' guy right here needs a bit of a makeover. I'm sorry ladies, you'll have to see me--- I mean us! not at our upmost best. Ah... he's..", the phoenix glanced at the man, his brows furrowed as confusion washed all over his face. "What was your name again?", he whispered, but it still wasn't low enough to not be heard. He wasn't the most subtle individuals out there. That made many chuckle under their breath, but Nala only rolled her eyes before her palm covered her face at the idiocy she had to witness. "Luciano", he sighed, but the sigh was immediately followed by a laughter from the man's part as he continued to listen to the way the Phoenix tried to redeem the situation.
With the introduction said and done, the performance begun. The strings of lute and drumming against wooden barrels begun. Luciano begun singing not long afterwards and, while that happened, Rakan found himself dancing to the rhythm, sliding through the tables and at times taking the maids walking around for a little spin. It was then his time to join with his voice, and so the tune continued filling the tavern, reviving the atmosphere with fun yet again.
One, two, three, four!
Giddy up!
Two, three, four!
All za peeps 're comin' down,
C'mon now and stick around!
We have fun fo' you,
All za things we do
're fo' you to join us now!
And za booze is all we sail,
It is one of our bails.
