Name: Lumaria
For the Story: Mirror Mirror, Where's My Son?

Physical Decription:
upload_2019-6-26_21-59-50.jpeg
Long blonde hair falling just below the shoulders, most of which is typically restrained in a ponytail down his back. Lumaria has pure blue eyes and a regal appearance that has been bred through his line, his every feature a produce of his ancestors' refined tastes in choosing betrothals for their children. He is quite tall with a thin frame, but his form is far from weak. Lumaria keeps himself in perfect shape with daily training, and his ability to defend himself would surprise you. He has no notable scars or markings upon his skin, save for a light line along his right wrist, a wound from a training exercise gone wrong when he was a teenager that he managed to hide well enough that the healers were unable to fully recover the wound before it left a permanent mark.

Personality: King Lumaria prides himself on being a fair ruler. He pushes himself to be an even better ruler than his line is known to be. He wants his kingdom to experience peace and prosperity under his rule. That said, he is not a pushover and is able to make hard decisions for his kingdom. And although he does care about his people and wants to do everything possible to make their lives prosperous, he will be the first to admit that he has a selfish side. He would do anything, for instance, for the sake of his adopted son, regardless of whether it would be best for the kingdom or not. Family comes first to him. And that is not something he is willing to compromise on.

History: Lumaria was born to be a king, and was brought up with his duty constantly on his mind. He abided by every rule, threw himself into every lesson, and made certain that he was the ideal prince. As the only heir born to his family, he knew it was expected of him. After his parents died in a carriage accident when he was barely seventeen, Lumaria none-the-less took over the throne and filled the role he had always known he was born to. He even accepted the betrothal his parents had worked out for him before their deaths. And he sired a son, a male heir to the throne, just as he was supposed to. But all of this was simply duty for him, up until that point.

But his life took an unexpected turn when his infant son was magically replaced almost as soon as he was born. A completely different child appeared in his son's place in the crib through a flash of light. And though he had no way to find out where his true son had gone or where this one had come from, Lumaria still found himself bonding with the little boy in that crib. And so he adopted the strange baby and raised him as his heir. His queen, however, never recovered from giving birth and fell too ill to be cured, passing away within weeks. And this left Lumaria alone, save for his new infant son. Needless to say, this brought him to grow even closer to the little boy.

Lumaria's focus in life became the son he was grooming to become king. And although he made sure that little Emerald (named for the emerald eyes that glistened like their namesake) learned everything he could that would later enable him to become a great ruler, Lumaria became even more determined to make sure that Emerald also had a better life than himself, free of the inability to make his own choices. Lumaria chose not to arrange a betrothed for his son, wanting Emerald to be the first in his line to be able to choose his own lifemate later on.

But now it seems that little Emerald, at seven years old, will never get the chance to make such a choice, for the little prince has contracted a terrible and unhealable illness. Lumaria had always known the child was different. The boy had a magic about him that was second nature to him, so different from the chanting spells and casting human mages could do. Lumaria had tried very hard to teach his little son to control that magic and keep it secret, but it was always like trying to teach a bird not to use its wings. Emerald's magic seemed a part of him, like a limb, that simply moved and acted with his will. And now that magic seemed to be tearing his son apart.

His only hope now rests within a magical mirror that has sealed within it an entity more powerful than anything else in all of Lumaria's realm. Does he dare release such a force in hopes of curing his son? ...Hell yes, he does.

Name: Prince Khalon
For the Story: Royally Enslaved

Physical Description:

Prince-001_9116.jpg

Prince Khalon is average in height, muscular, and bears more than a few savage scars across his back, chest, abdomen, arms, shoulders, and legs. Most of these scars were born of his many battles in the war waged between his kingdom and the neighboring one. One or two were merely the cost of training as a warrior when he was a boy. His muscular build is a product of constant training. His hair is jet-black and shorn above the shoulders as befits a warrior of his kingdom. In times of peace his hair would have been left to grow as long as possible as a sign of his royal blood, but it would only be a hindrance in battle now. His eyes are deep blue, which are the only physical feature he inherited from his mother. His clothing is typically very light and styled to show off his build and strength.

Personality:
Khalon was a very compassionate boy when his father was alive. He was being taught by the king to look after his people and strive to give them the very best conditions in which to thrive. Their kingdom had always been made up of a warrior race, but Khalon's father was the first to attempt to break away from that tradition and attempt to build a peaceful home for his people. However, the king's attempt at bringing true peace to his lands seems to have only invited an attack as he was seen as weak by some other kingdoms. Khalon was seven years old when he witnessed his father's murder. The event has left Khalon bitter and angry, and bent on revenge. Overall, however, the prince's pride lies in his kingdom and his people. Traditions within his kingdom call for honor over one's life at times, and Prince Khalon is determined to be the best prince to his kingdom that he can be, even if it means he becomes a martyr to spur his people on.

History:
Prince Khalon's mother was very weak and sickly when he was born, and he lost her at just a few months old. His father, King Kyne, was a very devoted father who attempted to teach his son to favor kindness above all else. His attempt to change the ideals of his kingdom were very nearly realized in his son, who wholeheartedly took his father's words as his mission in life. That is, until the fateful night an assassin managed to infiltrate the castle and murder the peace-loving king right in front of his little son. Khalon was traumatized by the event, heartbroken and afraid, and so very easily manipulated by his father's most trusted adviser, who slowly warped the prince's mind toward war and revenge. Khalon took up the sword soon after his father's death and threw himself into the training as a way to escape his sadness. And anger soon replaced his fear. He learned not to fear a little pain if he could win the battle. He also learned to lead warriors much older than himself. And before long he was participating in the war himself. Proving himself a capable warrior and leader, he listened to his adviser and left the castle to lead the battles against Midvale. And Khalon proved to have inherited the heart , mind, and spirit of a warrior. His leadership kept his kingdom on par with the enemy kingdom for many years. Now, after fourteen years of war, his hatred and anger for those who must surely have been responsible for not only the death of his father, but for the death of a dear friend, have not diminished at all. And he is still more than determined to bring Midvale to justice for it.

Name: Lumin
For the Story: Myth and Magic

Physical Description:
1ZiPdz.png

Lumin has long, flowing blonde hair and deep green eyes. His scales are a mix of the same color as his eyes and blue. When he is completely healthy his scales also show shimmering golden patterns that are quite intricate, but those patterns vanish if he is feeling even the slightest bit ill. He has hidden spines that he can unsheathe along his spine and tail, and his nails and teeth can instantly grow long enough to use as weapons, making him a very dangerous creature to challenge. But usually he is in a docile and friendly mood, leaving him looking almost exactly like a human male, with a fish tail of course. His patterns have the power to illuminate dark places, so long as he is feeling well at the time.

Personality: Lumin is a kind-hearted merman with a tendency to ignore his own well-being and put those he cares about first. He is brave to a fault and a skilled fighter. His curiosity often lands him into trouble. He's a bit of a loner with a longing for adventure.

History: Merfolk are a very rare race, so few of them are left that they are practically extinct. That said, there are still a few colonies around in the depths. Lumin's colony holds a little over fifty grown merfolk, and two or three children. Merchildren are especially rare, and though merfolk do not age beyond twenty or so years and are therefore naturally immortal, they are still prone to die before they ever have a chance to have children. They are often hunted by sharks, humans, and sirens (nightmarish mermaid-like creatures with sickly green skin, sharp teeth and claws, and ravenous appetites). There are even a few clans of merfolk who hunt others of their kind.

Lumin was born to the leader of a very savage clan. He was pushed by his father to learn to fight, and even pitted against his own brother in a death match at one point. Lumin's mother saved him and spirited him away from the clan, choosing to live live completely alone and unprotected in the sea rather than see her child forced to fight for his life every day when Lumin's heart was very obviously too soft for constant killing. Eventually they were taken in by a peaceful clan, and they have lived happily ever since.

Upon reaching adulthood Lumin learned that he had been blessed with a particularly intricate and beautiful set of patterns glowing on his scales. Those patterns are the most important aspect of a merman's life. Not only do they provide a physical sign of a merman's health, but they are the only way to attract a mate. Merchildren being so very rare, it is thought that only the healthiest merfolk can ever bring new life into a clan. And since merfolk reproduce magically rather than physically (their magics having to mix perfectly to create a child) finding a mate is difficult if one's patterns are plain. Lumin, however, is not interested in taking a mate at all and hates the attention his patterns bring him.

Most days Lumin escapes the clan and explores the ocean alone. Which is why, when he finds a human diver, he is so easily lured into a trap...
