Raised within an Amaterasu faithful clan, Ayumi was one of multiple children to be born into the lost clan, taught to be neutral but fair when it came to dealing with others as everything tended to have its place until it disturbed even the greater order of balance. Situated within the mountains, a temple and adjacent to it is a two-story minka that housed many of the clan from the elders to the young that were starting their training whether as warriors or guardians of the temple under the mantles of priests or priestesses. One of fifteen children of six girls, Ayumi was one of the middle children with her cousins and siblings, learning the trade of the clan. Though when it came time to be chosen whether to be a guardian or warrior, Ayumi was singled out along with a distant male cousin to be the new masters of their generation and of the household when the elders eventually began to pass away. There was much hardship placed onto this particular generation and it never seemed to abate, almost at times like the goddess had grown displeased with the clan and wanted to see them wiped out. It wasn't until Ayumi was paired with another male, leader of the Warrior sect, and a grave illness befell the holy sect that decimated the remaining prospects that She finally spoke to Ayumi. It was jolting and painful, the searing of her words into her mind, made to witness the destruction of the clan and know there was nothing to alleviate the cause. Heart-broken, Ayumi nearly disobeyed the deity as she attempted to save her fellow clansmen from perishing but it was realized to her that after losing her second partner due to being ignored as superstition and fear; that her intervention would only contribute to a worse fate than what she first envisioned. It was an agonizing death of the clan, observing calmly as her emotions dulled and her family faded away before her very eyes. Noting that after her 24th year of living and that her appearance barely altered after the final death of the clan, it was then that the deity made herself known, nearly blinding the only survivor of circumstance. From that point on the area fell into obscurity and was closed off from the world, leaving only the young mystic girl with empty eyes to guard her secrets and roam.
