Recently, I joined a new D&D campaign and love my character. I'm looking to write him against a variety of different folks and different situations, just to get a better feel for him, really.
His name, which is absolutely a chosen affection, is Razma Taz. He's a half elven rogue with minor, but flavorful telepathic powers. If you're familiar with 5th edition D&D, he's a Soulknife. If you aren't familiar, a Soulknife is sort of like Psylocke from the XMen, creating knives out of physic energy to stab fools. He's a thief, a con man, and forger who prefers to bluff his through situations rather than fight.
Razma is Chaotic Neutral. He has next to no respect for property rights, but also isn't especially greedy or cruel. He wants to live a comfortable, interesting life. While an unrepentant thief, he steals from those he believes don't /need/ what they have. He'd never steal from someone who's desperate or hungry, but if you have more than you need, you can afford to share. He's also generous, and will give freely to the poor and meek, as he can always get more.
While he has a natural gift for combat, he finds no particular joy in combat and left to his druthers, would prefer to evade or trick enemies rather than killing them.
Razma sees life as the grandest of games and seeks to play well, but make no mistake, he's playing. He's out to have a good time as his primary motivation.
So, what sort of stories would I like to tell?
Could be as simple as a chance meeting at a ball or tavern to as complicated as his nefarious deeds catching up to him complete with blackmail and world ending consequence.
While absolutely not a hero, he's got a softer heart than he lets on and could be convinced to help an underdog or the vulnerable, especially if it involves humbling the powerful.
While a flirt, I haven't yet discovered if someone could get through his layers and layers of irreverent bullshit to find the heart underneath. Best not propose a 'he falls in love with' plot, because I'm not sure if the character is even capable of true romantic love.
You are more than welcome to propose 'Raz and X were an item' and you're calling in a marker or asking for a favor.
If you like the idea of writing with Raz in a fantasy setting, drop me a PM and we'll discuss particulars.
I generally write 3-4 paragraphs in a post, longer of scene setting is called for.
I haven't done a lot of collaborative writing in a long while as I'm mentally unwell, but I have a bee in my bonnet so wanted to give this a spin. It may not work out, but if I can't continue with a story, I will let you know.
Thanks for reading,
Bax
