Appearance
Her hair is long, semi-wavy occasionally, and is naturally dark brown; she rarely wears anything outside it being down or in rare dutch braids to keep it out of her face. Her hair is thick, much like others of her kind. Her eyes are normally a
hazel, mistaken as
brown sometimes, but they take a golden hue when nervous. She appears slender and athletic, a healthy weight in both Luminan and human terms, which is not vastly different. She stands at 160 cm or 5'3". As a Luminan, she has no beauty marks or freckles. However, she does have a scar on her right arm from when Lumina was under attack; it never properly healed due to how stressful traveling to Earth was. She also has the hexagonal markings down her arms and legs that all Luminans do; these markings do not show in sunlight though, making her come off as human, but in total darkness she literally shines bright. She has no 'tattoos' or piercings, at least in the human way.

The
Heart of Tavrian closes portals to the other planets, but it doesn't open them. It is silver with a glowing white gem, hanging on a silver chain. Despite being centuries old in Earth time, it doesn't look rusted or worn out, thanks to magic. The Quintessence, means spirit of the group in this case, Guardian is the carrier, and this person usually is leader of the group. Like the other guardians, the user has the same access to wings, and only the carrier of the heart can unite and bring all five members to full power. When united all five guardians are at their strongest, and when they're apart, they are only so strong. Additionally, a lot of the Quintessence magic bares similarity to Illusions: duplicating oneself, energy blasts, phantom pains, so on. Thanks to her Luminan heritage, her ability to control electrical currents strengthens her energy blasts.
History
Born on the Fourth Whole Moons back on Lumina to two loving parents Zyra and Kyrian, Zora was born an only child and spent her first ten years living on Lumina, exploring it's expansive currents and the many bright crystals that released a spectrum of color. She was homeschooled like many Luminan, something of a normalcy on the planet; parents were responsible for their own children and their learning. She grew up a normal life in one of Lumina's vastest cities; it even attracted tourism from other planets from time to time. However, not all the attention drawn in was positive. As a power grab, Lumina was overrun, and many of its denizens were forced to flee. Most weren't fighters, often living a relatively peaceful life for most of their lives. Her parents and her were among those who chose to escape to Earth, doing anything to ensure their daughter was safe.
From the moment they arrived, things weren't easy. Humans didn't understand; some tried to and some didn't bother at all. In order to blend in better, many Luminans calculated their own birthdays and settled down near where their ships crash landed. Many even became legal residents, but humans who actually believed in aliens were weary of them, making decent jobs hard for them to land initially. Part of her parents' attempts to blend in was sending Zora to a human school and giving her a last name earlier than typically done. Many other families followed suit, doing anything to prove they simply wanted coexistence somewhere safe. From then on out many of Lumina's young were integrated into human society; the earlier they did, the easier it was to adapt. Zora, being only eleven upon their arrival to Earth, had it easier than older teenagers and adults who were forced to settle there.
Zora made human friends, attended a human middle school, high school, even college. By the time she had her 21st birthday, the tensions were the best they'd ever been with humans. Some were skeptical or didn't believe, while many finally adjusted to being around Luminans. Her mother attended school to become a nurse, as a way of understanding humans better, while her father became an engineer for a popular cell phone company. Zora, who'd developed an interest in human visual arts, ended up getting a degree in Graphic Design; at first it was simply to help her dad when he tried to make his own company, but it became a passion for her. Unfortunately, landing a job as a Luminan is much harder than it seems still, so she's held different part time jobs while acting as a freelance Graphic Designer. She never expected to be chosen as a Guardian, let alone heard of them. Even her exposure to magic was limited to when she was not in the double digits.
Planet: Lumina
— Lumina was a planet central to technological development and full of electric currents. All Luminans were forced to find refuge on other planets when their planet was seized from right under them. Many relocated to the nearby planet of Earth, but some went to other nearby planets.
— Before it was taken over, Lumina was a democratic monarchy. Those days are long gone now.
— Plants didn't exactly thrive on it, and there was no water, but it was a beautiful planet full of light everywhere.
— It was known for it's advancements in designing portal entries and made the furthest progress on spaceships. Many Luminans who chose to relocate to Earth actually work towards a career with NASA.
— Lumina had two moons; one was blue and the other gold. These moons were used to track a date of birth for many Luminans.
— Alcohol was not sold or even transported there, so most Luminans never experienced it before arriving to Earth.
Species: Luminan
— Luminan culture has no middle name system, meaning the Luminans who moved to Earth do not make one either.
— Luminans do not have last names in the human sense that passes down a bloodline or familial line; they are given one when they hit puberty by their parents. It marks them as coming of age around their fourteenth birthday. Also culturally they don't ever call their parents by their last names; it's a sign of respect not to.
— Due to the natural electrical current always running through her body, she can charge Earth-bound technology. She just has to be cautious on how much energy she let's out or she'd cause a surge and power outage.
— Luminans can feel electrical currents in objects.
— When microwaves on Earth are on, they react oddly to Luminans, making their electrical abilities act out of control.
— Instead of sleeping in a bed the way Earthlings do, Luminans 'recharge' using small electrical cards. It's recommended for a low-energy Luminan to take four hours to recharge properly. Recharging is important and when their bodies repair themselves. However, Luminans need to be cautious where they do so, as it can cause a major power outage on Earth if not careful. These small electrical cards are made from Zyrite, a material that can only be found on Lumina. Gold works as a replacement, but it's not quite as strong; recharging takes two more hours when using gold-made rechargers.
— Electricity, or recharging, acts similar to how a shower does for humans. It's recommended for most Luminans to do so once a day. Their hair is the most shiny after a complete recharge.
— While many Luminans were reluctantly welcome to Earth, some humans still have concerns about sharing the planet with them. Things are tense to say the least. Some humans still refuse to believe in aliens or that they need external help with their technological advancements.
— Luminans can swim, but if they are stressed when doing so they will accidentally shock the whole pool of people. They need total control of their emotions.
— Luminans age similarly to humans, but when they reach their mid twenties their aging slows greatly; they can live up to two centuries.
— Luminans choose their life partners by matching currents; if someone's current is similar enough, the two are compatible. While relationships with other kinds, humans included, are possible, it's a fairly new way to consider a romantic relationship. Some Luminans adapted easier than others.

— Her last name is Xaelon, because for a Luminan, it translates to "boundless energy."
— She got her driver's license when she was seventeen, mainly because humans tried to bar Luminans from getting one.
