A grad student in the future broke the laws of time and space and she wound up bound to a djinn lamp. There was this seemingly eternal experience of disembodiment, feeling nothing but an utter sense of being alone. It was maddening. The next sensation she had was being summoned forth from the lamp by the hand that rubbed it.
Your Character
Male. I would prefer him to be from a Pre-Industrial era. Classical, Biblical, Feudal, Renaissance, Colonial… (I could make a case for later eras as well, even Victorian, Edwardian, WWI, Roaring 20s, Great Depression, WW2, even the Present.) But I do recommend that it at least be from a time and place when and where the fables about djinn lamps are known. He will probably think he has hit the jackpot.
I do prefer that this not be a dark romance, or that your character be evil. (The Vessel has a way of dealing with that problem. See Plots.)

She actually doesn’t remember her name. She has no clue how to be a djinn. She doesn’t even know that she IS a djinn - or even her own name. That’s right, the lucky guy found the one djinn lamp with an incompetent djinn. For that matter, she doesn’t have to obey his commands. But she can’t free herself from the bottle. She will NOT want to go back in.
Plot
There are the obvious plots. Guy discovers he has a djinn to command. Makes wishes (only to find out he has an incompetent djinn who doesn’t know her own powers).
Once they discover some of her powers and their limits many options open up - dangerous options. Yes, she does have distinct limits.
Then there is a deep plot. Once the more dangerous options are explored things may get … interesting and the RP could find itself in an endgame scenario.
Note: While I have used a lamp for this, myth holds that different vessels may be used. Bottles, jars, lanterns … Whatever the form it will always be serious, not mocking. Djinn were imprisoned for crimes.
