The two lay together, and that was when she realised she was lesbian, or rather the first time she acted on it. She begged for the strange woman to do something. She couldn't marry a man. The strange woman turned out to be a vampire, and Beatrice was turned. She had to leave. She had to change her name. She changed her name to Jessica Vandertunt. Hypnotised a nobel to gain access to his wealth, and started up a business of selling farming equipment. The store was stocked and run by people she hypnotised.
She built her company, gaining wealth and status. By the time of the Victorian Era came around, the Vandertunt name was one associated with wealth and power. Owning ninty percent of media, she is responsible for most of the cover ups required to keep vampires hidden. She has pulled people out of poverty, and put them in respectable positions, namely in politics and the police force, giving her a startling amount of power in the human world.

Taking a liking to Luella she was placed as secretary of the chief of police. She was the first women to serve in the police force.
