Full Name: Louise Atticus Farren Codename: Girl Scout Race: Human Division: Operations
Special Skills:
Street Smart; she knows her way around even the most obscure parts of the city and has connections everywhere.
Resourcefulness; she can make a weapon of almost anything and if tools are not available, she often finds an alternative.
Lock picking and security avoidance; or as some call her 'a slippery little b*tch' with the ability to get in (or out) of most places.
Swordsmanship; Yes, a dying art but one passed down in her family for generations. She still utilises it in a modern context.
Special Abilities:
Multi-tool; a pocketknife-esce tool that contains everything he need to pick locks as well as tools such as a screwdriver, saw and file.
Amulet of Amnesty; a mystical amulet that, when held in front of someones eyes, can urge them to reveal information or forget the person wielding it. However, this amulet does not always work, the higher the intelligence of the being, the less of an effect it will have.
Weapon of Choice:
A powered type of melee weapon that functions like a sword. It is powered by electricity and as a result also channels this into the weapon allowing for a stun effect, or if impaled, a soldering effect. When Louise was first recruited into the BSDR she had classical sword combat skills, passed down as a dying art in her family. This skill was recognised and valued and she was provided with what she likes to call a 'letter opener.'
Personality: Louise is a fiery woman who enjoys a dry and sarcastic kind of humour. While she can be viewed as a bit of a 'loose cannon' and 'unpredictable' due to her temper, she does have a strong moral compass and fierce loyalty toward a cause she believes in. She has a potty mouth and is seen as a bit of an outcast in society due to her background. She is a more 'attack first, ask questions later' kind of gal and because of this, is often kept on a tight leash. As a joker, she never takes anything too seriously, including herself but will always be reliable when push comes to shove.
Bio: Raised by his single father, Louise was born into the working class of society and raised on a tight budget and the motto 'If you want something, you better work for it.' Her father, and grandfather, and great grandfather and all those that preceded her learnt the art of sword combat. Why? None of them really know, but her own father believed it was a good way of honing discipline and dedication within a person so Louise, like many before her, learnt the skills. At the age of seventeen, her father passed away in a workplace accident. Thrown into this new state of grief and isolation, Louise became interested in the supernatural, trying to investigate it herself, seeking answers.
Before joining the BSDR Louise was a hustler who went by the name 'Atticus' to hide her gender and identity. She acted as a go between in city gangs that no one ever really knew what side she was on or where she would strike next. Though she interacted in the shady business among the city, she never actually took part in any drug pedalling or blood money but merely made sure that no single gang had power over the other, selling weaknesses and dropping hints. When she wasn't doing this, she was searching 'highly active' areas for the supernatural, wanting to get that much closer to the world in which her father had been dragged into unknowingly.
The role-play is open. I'll make a post later on, regarding the first mission. Check your character sheets, I have thread marked them with your codenames.
And that's precisely when I completely change my mind about my character, partly because we have so many folks in Operations and partly because of goddamn shower regrets. Shit. Any chance that I could rewrite mine into a young woman who works in the Science Division? We literally have no characters there, as far as I can see.
Alright, here's a completely written character sheet for myself. Might remove my other one or something, since I won't be using that character after all.

Special Skills:
Programming
Technology design

Theoretical swordfighting
Special Abilities/Weapon of Choice:
(Put these together because it's essentially the same thing in this case - if a person working for the Science Divison had insane combat skills... what the heck would they be doing behind a desk or in the lab?)
She developed a technique to use extracted supernatural essence on signed pieces of paper (fitted with microneedles on the back) that allow her to theoretically turn any living being into a skilled swordsman (humanoid) under her command when the piece of paper is stuck on them - with a special chip being implanted on the subject in advance for her to have control. The skill comes from her having studied battle techniques and strategies (but lacking the resolve to put them to use, herself). However, she has only ever tested it on simple-minded creatures like rodents due to their lack of strong will. Theoretically, it shouldn't work on a person due to their will being too strong - even if it did, it would either gradually drive them to insanity or strip away their identity, as they cannot have a will of their own for this to work.
- She uses it for self-defense, considering that her knowledge cannot be allowed to fall into enemy hands - her practical combat skills are almost non-existent, however, so this acts as a kind of 'weapon' for her. However, the required supernatural essence is difficult to come across, as she essentially has to take all of a supernatural being's power just to obtain a small amount of essence - which is why she prefers to extract it from a recently deceased supernatural being. The created fighter will adopt some characteristics of the supernatural being, meaning that she has to be cautious with the essence she uses.
- If she was to fall unconscious for any reason while having one of these things "summoned", it would be unable to take further commands and would simply continue with its last command (which must be fairly specific, like "fend off person x" and not something like "protect the world" - its mind isn't advanced enough to handle such a broad command). Assuming that it's still alive afterwards, it would just idly stand around, unable to act on its own.
(Yes, I really did pull myself together to make this in a photo editing program.)
Personality:
She is often admired for her compassion and practical thinking, although she can also be brutally honest at times. If she's stuck in a face-to-face conversation with someone with coffee breath - someone who doesn't happen to possess the power to discipline her - she'll tell it right to the person's face, followed by a breath mint. Otherwise, it isn't exactly common to get straight answers from her when she doesn't believe them to be absolutely critical for the situation.
Bio:
In her childhood, she was a quiet but intelligent girl who kept to herself while scoring high grades on biology and chemistry, and later computer science. She went on to university and got a degree in biotechnology before realizing that there's so much more that she could study - supernatural beings and occurrences. At first, she had believed them to be nothing more than myths, but that was before the night during which she witnessed something that could not be explained by normal means. Naturally, no-one would believe her. Even so, she was absolutely certain that there was more to the world than she had been led to believe, and she longed to study such phenomenons, regardless of what others thought of them. Her goal was not to inform other civilians of the supernatural world, but to inform herself of the technological possibilities its existence created.
In her spare time, she began to research more about such phenomenons but soon found that it was pretty much impossible to tell reality from fiction. Instead she decided to conduct her own research in the field, nearly having a few run-ins with BSDR agents. She quickly came to the realization that she could not possibly hope to find out much without risking her own life in the process, having no practical combat skills or means of defending herself. This inspired her to begin planning the design for her trademark technology that would provide her with adequate defense by harnessing the supernatural, a project that took several years to bring to life - with her having joined the BSDR in the process, partially taking a degree in information technology and becoming side-tracked by more minor inventions.
Her desire to join the Operations Division gradually faded into a distant dream as she became wrapped up in her work in the Science Division. When she did suddenly take a renewed interest in the Operations Division (but in aiding them in their work with her expertise), a few colleagues came up with a strangely plausible theory that she had the hots for an agent in that division. When asked about it, she would simply smile into a cup of tea and state that such information is classified, enjoying the feeling of basking in mystery.
@Sanity43217 Wondering if you're still accepting people to join the RP? Seems like it just started and assuming the title of this would've changed to signify the RP is closed, but thought to ask!
Also, random questions:
1. Have an idea of what the pacing of this RP will be? In other words, do you have an expectation of how often someone should post? 1/day, twice/week, once/week, etc...
2. Any needed roles to be filled? I skimmed through this thread, but only glanced at the characters. I'll be more thorough once I know I can submit a CS for review.
While I cannot say whether the roleplay is still accepting new characters, I've noticed that we have a majority of male characters who work for the Operations Division (can't really blame them, honestly). This is one of the main reasons for my decision to rewrite my character into a female who works for the Science Division (it was originally a male working for the Operations Division).
Hehe. I think I might just have the Science Division 'for myself' as the sole person with a fully-fledged character representing it. Assuming that the OP doesn't shoot me for her character sheet.
