Naeryn Feylindor

Naeryn Feylindor is a young light elf with anything but an ordinary life. The Prince of an ancient Kingdom, he prepares to take the throne after his father's eventual passing. He is known as the Phoenix and has been called the anomaly of the Feylindor bloodline. His goal is to have his Kingdom thrive and continue ruling for centuries to follow, with a temperament not seen in centuries within the royal family.

Life of the Crown Prince

Naeryn is the only son born to Tathdel and Merlara Feylindor, a 'miracle' after several failed pregnancies before him. A headstrong Prince who managed to gain the trust of his people, because allowed himself to grow up amongst them. Known for repeatedly sneaking out of the castle, Naeryn was raised by learning with other children, visiting their families and even breaking bread with them.

For an elf, the Prince is still quite young, in barely two and half centuries, there had been peace within and out of the Kingdom that didn't require their aid very much. As he was not King, Naeryn paid little attention to many political affairs unless it was expected of him to make an appearance. He had long become more popular amongst the common folk, avoiding the noble families as much as he could. The King repeatedly had been known to drag him to court in hopes he'd find a wife to produce an heir after he took the throne.

Feylindor Kingdom

A Kingdom ruled by those who manipulate and control fire and light, it has been a powerhouse amongst other ruling families even before they became a Kingdom. The Feylindor's, once a peaceful tribe of elves, sought to gain more power over others. Using their magical gifts, the Chief had led his warriors against other tribes, against both light and dark elven tribes, conquering over their lands. Relentless in his pursuit for more power, he burned and slaughtered many of his enemies, wiping out ancient tribes that have been lost to history.

Each generation following the establishment of a Kingdom from a tribe had shown to be power hungry, paranoid, and insane in their own pursuit for more power. Each ruler had expanded their territory, the Kingdom growing steadily until another family of fire users contested against them. Known as the Battle of Twin Flames, both Kingdoms fought for two days before the Feylindor's army took victory and took the others magic for themselves. It now resides in their Sanctum, alongside the source of their ancestral magic.

Magic

​

Magic usage is very limited. Some are born with the innate ability and must learn how to control their energy in order to use magic for a prolonged time. Once the energy is used up, the user must get some rest. How long they rest depends on how much magic was used and energy drained.

Few are able to learn magic without the innate ability. It takes longer to learn, but it is possible. They also have the same issue of how much energy to rest ratio is for innate magic users.

Even fewer families, usually ruling families, have ancestral magic. It is a magic that differs from their natural born, elemental magic. This magic will drain a user's energy quickly, but it is stronger and more devastating.

Feast of the Phoenix

'It is said the phoenix can be reborn immediately if it is the last Feylindor, the last of the bloodline. But that has never been tested and I am not willing to test that out myself.'

'A phoenix is always reborn anyway, every few generations. That's why very few in my family ever have red hair. But if you want fairy tales, supposedly we take the phoenix form because we killed and ate the phoenix thousands of years ago.'

The Phoenix had not always been their symbol of power. When Chief Curuthir decided he wanted to expand his tribe and, in turn, his own reign, he looked to his shaman's for guidance. The myth of a phoenix had always been known and heard, a majestic bird made of flames, reborn from it's own ashes. A beast that could destroy and still represent life anew. Very few sightings of this avian god had ever been seen and recorded, giving the Chief just enough to work with to locate it.

It is written in the books that the Feylindor Chief spent much of his life searching for it. His children and grandchildren were raised learning to hunt and find clues, preparing for the day they may find the phoenix within their lifetimes.

And they succeeded.

The Phoenix was found, weak and on the verge of being reborn. It's feathers were molting, littering the forest floor with burning feathers turning to ash. It was not nearly as large as they had expected it to be, yet it still stood out amongst other birds in both beauty and height.

That same evening, the Feylindor family cooked and ate the Phoenix, inheriting it's magical strength and ability to be reborn. However, only one at a time could have this. One by one through the night, those who could walk through flames were heard screaming, flailing about as they burned to their death throughout the night. Only one survived, the youngest daughter of the now deceased Chief, Shafel. Her once brown hair had turned red like fire, brown eyes were now the color of flames.

From then on, every few generations after the last 'Phoenix' died, it would be reborn again within the bloodline. Each one born with red hair and amber eyes and even stronger flames.
