Hi folks, I am known around these parts as Class Historian! A guy by the name of Bill Shakespeare once said, “Brevity is the soul of wit,” or some shit like that, so I’m going to try and keep this short. I’m a 30 year old fella living in the bleak heartland of America who is happily married and works a reasonably demanding full-time job. I’ve been writing in RPs on and off for the better part of 17 years, which means I’ve written a whole lot of garbage and occasionally something that was pretty good! Up to this point, I’ve almost exclusively RP'ed in groups, but after realizing that it is a huge pain in the ass trying to coordinate several different writers at once, I’ve come to find that, hey, 1x1s are actually way easier and more fun.

Moving on! A little about what I’m looking for in a writing partner.

Expectations

As far as the gender of both my writing partner and our characters, I have no preference; I will take all comers (Cummers? Sorry). I have experience writing all sorts of characters all over the gender spectrum, and I love writing LGBTQ+ characters. I have a special place in my heart for writing queer stories with trans characters in historical and medieval settings. These stories are so compelling, but so rarely told. If you have a specific pairing in mind, fire away! I’m very flexible here.

When it comes to writing style, I write in third person, past-ish tense (occasionally dipping into present tense for certain scenes, like a dream sequence). I’d like my partner’s writing ability to be on-par with my own, which is to say, fair to middling. Good spelling, good grammar, fun and engaging prose. I can write anywhere between 300-2k words depending on the context of a scene, so as long as there’s something to respond to, I’m happy!

I try to respond at least once a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on my motivation and real life factors. But one thing that’s important to me is OOC goofin’ off. I love to brainstorm, chat, and just generally make friends with my writing partners, so if you’re looking to just exclusively RP with someone with no chatter beyond that, look elsewhere! One of my favorite aspects of RPing is the collaborative nature, so this OOC chatter, combined with brainstorming, is very important to me. I love to discuss the plot, worldbuilding, and our characters. I enjoy starting stories from the ground-up and building everything from there; if I write a character by myself and just try to shoehorn them into a plot, they’ll be much weaker and less interesting than if we both discuss plot and character beforehand and collab on their personality, hopes, dreams, etc., and might not be compatible at all with eachother. Basically, I love working with my partner to flesh out our world and characters!

When it comes to AI, I am adamantly opposed to its use, be it for writing or for image generation, and I've gotten pretty good at detecting when someone is using it, so don't try me! If you can't bother writing out a couple paragraphs with your own brainpower, then frankly, I ain't gonna read it!

A heads up: if you reach out to me and I don’t think we’re a good match, I’ll let you know first thing so we can head our separate ways amiably rather than drag out an RP that neither one of us enjoy. After writing with a ton of mismatched writing partners, I’ve developed a sixth sense for knowing when it will and won’t work out.

Interests

At the moment, I’m really only interested in writing medieval fantasy or scifi, with a preference towards medieval fantasy. The last thing I’ll ever write is slice of life. No shade to those who enjoy it, just not my speed! I’m a sucker for action/adventure, travel, intrigue, all that fun stuff, with some romance tagged on of course. I prefer historical settings or bespoke fantasy worlds. REALLY obsessed with Arthurian legend at the moment; so many fun characters, fantastical creatures, holy miracles alongside pagan remnants, and just all around an interesting time period to explore.

There’s only a few fandoms I’m drawn to when writing, and that’s only because these worlds are so expansive and broad that we can create whatever type of story we’d like within them. I don’t write canon characters, and have little interest playing across from them.
  • Baldur’s Gate/D&D
  • Arthurian Legend (that’s a fandom, right?)
  • Mass Effect
  • Elder Scrolls
  • Star Wars
Smut

You know it, you love it. I’m new to writing smut, but that’s like, half the reason I migrated to this site. So I’m definitely down to write some steamy scenes in our story! A lot of folks use ratios on here of smut to story, and I’m not sure where I’d land, but I think somewhere in the 20:80-10:90 range. I love a slow burn, I love a blossoming romance, and building some tension. I definitely put the story first, but who doesn’t want a little passion in their writing?

I really am a sucker for romance, and generally steer away from the super toxic/extreme dynamics. Totally fine with enemy-to-loved situations, but I’m not keen on like, torture porn, anything like that.

I’ve also noticed on this site people try to separate their own kinks from their characters, which I get, but at the same time, if there’s an instance of “the writer’s barely disguised fetish” popping up, I really am not going to care at all lol. I don’t think each of your character’s kinks need to be explicitly “in-character” for them, because sometimes, there’s no connection between an individual's kinks and their personality. So go ahead and give that princess a foot fetish or whatever, I won’t mind!

Speaking of kink, here is my dreaded F-List. Not entirely sure how everyone interprets these rankings, but this is how I see them:
  • Favorite - These are my personal kinks that I enjoy very much. If you include them in our story, I’ll love you forever. Of course, if they’re a no for you, I won’t write them (but I will be a little sad).
  • Yes - Not necessarily my kinks, but they’re either inoffensive or cool with me, so I will happily include them in my writing!
  • Maybe - Things I won’t include of my own volition, but run it by me and I can be persuaded.
  • No - Not interested, sorry!
Some notes: just because something is on my “favorite” or “yes” list doesn’t mean I’ll be writing about it obsessively in every post. I’m a man of many tastes, and moderation is key! Also, F-List is kinda weird in that it lists things I wouldn’t consider “kinks,” or things I would include in a story but not sexualize, like characters with amputations; most of those landed in my "Yes" list. So if you’re curious where I stand on something, just ask!

Concepts

Not a ton of these at the moment, and many are more vibes than anything, but here we are:
  • Size difference: After creating an adorable little gnome Tav in Baldur’s Gate III, I have been mildly obsessed with writing a story featuring a normal human/elf/orc/whatever across from a gnome/goblin/halfling. Just such a fun dynamic.
  • Gender/sexuality confusion: More of a theme than a pairing or plot, but I love stories of queer awakenings and characters slowly realizing they are attracted to someone of the same gender. Or alternatively, an ostensibly heterosexual pairing where one individual's gender is intentionally obfuscated for plot reasons. Woman posing as a mysterious knight? Yes please!
  • Royalty x Knight/Soldier: Love it. Forbidden romance, class differences, all right up my alley.
    • The King’s Heir: Building upon this pairing, I have a plot in mind for an Arthurian romance story. Broad strokes is it takes place after the death of King Arthur, and there's a race between warring factions to find his last bastard heir to restore to the throne and dig their claws into them. The bastard would likely be hidden somewhere, perhaps thinking themselves lowborn, only to be thrust into a political whirlwind. Themes of paganism vs. Christianity abound as some try to return to the Old Gods, while others want a return to the Church. Inquire for more details, because I love this plot!
  • Monster Hunter x Monster: Old but gold, you know it and you love it. Hunter tracks down a demon/monster/creature, only to realize it ain't so bad, and ends up protecting it from mobs of angry villagers. Classic.
  • Mage x Warrior: Those dang melee players, always at odds with casters. Another broad concept, but one I'm always happy to explore!
That's all I've got folks! DM me with your ideas, hopes, dreams, innermost secrets, whatevah ya got.
