Hey. I'm MonsterInTheDark, but call me Mons. I've been writing for around ten years now. I've taken lots of writing classes and written a lot in my free time, mostly fantasy. Fantasy is by far my favorite genre to write and read in. I also have two novels I'm working on, one 150,000+ and one 80,000+. I'd consider myself an experienced writer. I used to role-play back in the day on various websites, but I stopped as I got older and it became harder to find people who were able to match my effort and energy for creation. I consider myself Advanced Lit these days because of my writing experience and tendency to go detailed in my own responses.

Writing and Role-play Preferences:

I prefer literate or advanced literate role-play. I don't mind some spelling mistakes now and then or shorter replies, but in general the grammar has to be good enough that posts are readable, and one-liners or very short posts without much character or plot content aren't for me.

Yes:

Third person role-play (present or past tense, consistent between role-players)
Character focused plots
World-building heavy plots
Collaboration and communication. Please communicate limits and desired plot elements ahead of time, and try to mention major things you'd prefer to keep secret (character things especially).
Texts, letters, illustrations, or other extra materials
Story suggestions (I always love to hear other's ideas)
Asking before actions that might result in permanent character or relationship changes. If a character is going to try to kill the other, mention that.
Ultimately hopeful stories (but plenty of struggle along the way)

No:

First or second person
Role-plays purely based around kinks or sex. I don't mind that as a plot element, but it doesn't interest me to do something on which that's the entire basis.
Needles
Plots which are pure angst or torture porn
Abusive relationships between the main pairing. Relationships which are ultimately supportive, if not completely drama free, are preferred.
M x F (for now)
F x F
F x NB
Fanfiction (I've written fanfic before but I'm looking for original stories right now)

Gore and violence is fine with me, but I would like the gore/violence to be relevant to the story and characters and not just there for funsies, as that gets boring fast for me.

Reply Length:

I usually write replies of a page or so for character introductions or moments with lots of emotion, but during dialogue exchanges or moments of quick action, it's more like three or four paragraphs. I can match longer or shorter post preferences fairly easily. While I generally prefer my partner to write at least two or three paragrpahs, sometimes two paragraphs or so is alright for some scenes. I'm flexible. I'm a very fast writer, though also a perfectionist. I can reply at least once a day, probably twice a day or more most of the time as I have a schedule with a lot of natural breaks in it even when I'm busy. That said, I will occasionally need to less reply less often or more sporadically based on real life events, but I'll always warn ahead of time if that's the case.

Word count wise, I can do anything from 200 to a 1000+ words, with 400 - 500 being my average.

Sexual content:

I do write some sexual content, and I'm comfortable with that being a plot element in role-plays. I don't have a set ratio and do things by the flow of the story, and I prefer to focus on the characters and their specific dynamics than any particular kink, although some of my characters I definitely think of maybe having certain tastes. BDSM, with proper aftercare and such, is fine and I feel fairly comfortable with that. I prefer smaller age gaps, and if an age gap exists, the characters must be in a similar place in life and power level. Just to let you know, I also see most characters as switches/versatile and dominant or submissive varying based on the situation and partner, with their preferences having little impact on their personality. Any scenes of this nature that I would write would focus on emotional connection as much as physical pleasure.

Limits:

Extreme masochism or sadism
Spit play
Bathroom play
Incest (including step siblings or other familial dynamics turned romantic)
Public sex
Choking
Noncon or dubcon as a thing between the main pairing
Furries
Actual slave/master (I don't consider BDSM to fall under this, although BDSM should not be used as an excuse to cross into this territory)
Daddy/mommy kink
Vore

Pairings:

Dragon x Dragon Slayer (or Monster x Monster Hunter generally!) [Note: while the monsters in the pairing can have fully monstrous forms, they also must have humanoid forms they can shift into and human level intelligence]
Vampire x Hunter
Superhero x Supervillain
Hero x Villain (fantasy world)
Merperson x Researcher
Assassin x Target
Alien x Researcher
Prince x Diplomat
Demon x Human
Demon x Angel
Other Pairing Ideas (feel free to suggest)

Plots (at this time) - Ideas welcome!:

Dragon x Dragon Slayer: Character A is a dragon slayer who has heard of evil beasts that kill entire villages their whole life, and trained to kill them. Maybe they lost some of their family to a dragon, or maybe they just have a strong urge to protect people. Character B is a dragon that's mostly concerned with protecting their hoard, and doesn't care for fighting humans, who just wants A to leave them alone with their gold and keeps rebuffing their attempts to battle.

Alien x Researcher: Character A is a scientist who studies humanity. By chance, an alien researcher, Character B, kidnaps them. Instead of being terrified, A wants to learn all about B's culture, and is happy to assist with B's research. They return to Earth, where A and B live together and learn about Earth and B's home planet, as well as their species' similarities and differences.

Superhero x Supervillain: Character A is a hero who protects and cherishes their city, possibly as part of some sort of hero organization. Character B is a villain who just started their career in the city, and is determined to reform the world by any way necessary. Some cheesy and over the top elements are certainly fine, although explorations of superheroes and villains are good too -- a lighthearted element of some sort is preferred here, however.

OOC:

I love to chat and think communication leads to more satisfying stories, but I definitely don't want personal chatting to overtake story writing. If both elements are strong, though, that's fine with me. That's just my preference, though.

Please tell me how much messaging you like from a RP partner and if you'd prefer not to hear about plot ideas not directly relevant to current role-play. Also let me about your general preferences for posting frequency if you don't currently have a request thread up with that info. Real life happens and I'm not going to hold you to an average or insist we keep everything strictly business, but I'm neurodivergent and social cues are even harder to read online. My natural tendency is to send random thoughts about the story without expectation of reply, and to private message if my reply is up on the thread. If you say you're sick or tired, I'll occasionally (once a week or so) ask how you're doing. If any of that bothers you, then let me know ahead of time so I can adjust my habits accordingly.

DM me if you're interested with your character and stories ideas. Communicate your limits and elements that you'd like to include in the role-play ahead of time. If you're not sure about something, ask.
