You wake up, unaware of where you are; in a dimly lit town full of fog. You hear strange creatures in the distance as you stand. There are wounds on your body... but from where? You feel strange, as well. Nourishment is a must, and you must begin to find your way to nearby sources! Unfortunately, you do not remember how you got here. You only remember having woken up here.
Theme Song
Welcome to the Darling roleplay.
The premise is characters are stuck in an otherworldly dimension that is in-fact purgatory. Your character will not remember what happened prior to them waking up in this strange town. Who created this town? Who will ever know? But do not become a Darling. To become a Darling is to give in to the abyss you are surrounded by. These strange creatures you hear are but other Darlings. Enigmatic beings that have lost all sense and all in their eyes and life.
The Town
Named Mors, the town is holistically creepy. It is an abandoned small-town that had seemed to become freshly left in a hurry. Mors is where all characters have died at one time or another. Whether or not they have been there for years may not matter. Regardless, things seem to... change, in Mors; when you look away. This is because of it being purgatory, it is a reflection of what happens to the awakened.
The following locations are available in Mors:
The Town Centre
The Village
The Hospital and Sanitarium
The Origin
Your character will not know where the curse came from that drives them into Mors. There are certain areas cursed that force people into Mors. Certain towns, certain districts...
The Darlings
The Darlings are souls who have transformed into corrupt beings that have become hungry for life, and unable to find their way out of Mors. They seek to eat and absorb others of their soul and energy. To become a Darling is to become a Reaper; a Taker. One may not understand when they are becoming a Darling but will slowly begin to lose the color in their eyes.
Darlings are all stuck in Mors, and to escape the town... you must discover how your character died, and what is keeping them from wanting to move on to the other side. Some do not always return, and some simply disappear. Those who have disappeared may have reawakened or passed on. But remember to avoid becoming a Darling, or you will forever stay in the town of Mors.
Darlings are possible to kill, but they only stay dead for a short while. There is not an endless amount, either, as each bunch seems to be interwoven with one another in some shape or form... and only in relation may they see one another. Darlings may eventually pass on and disappear. But to where?
The Stuck Souls
How did you get here? Well, that is thoroughly up for your own character to decide. All characters will be from the modern era. To find the reasoning for them being in Mors may not guarantee their leave, as they may still have a purpose they wish to fulfill. Not all purposes can be fulfilled. As such, some may forever be stuck.
