I have a dread for personal introductions. I've spent too much time creating on-line dating profiles.
So for day one I got my feet wet by submitting something for the monthly challenge. I had some fun.
About me: I'm 43. College educated. Gender fluid. Queer. Pagan. Switch.
I started my roll play career doing table top in high school. Started with Gurps (remember that?), did some Rifts, D&D, White Wolf, Marvel, D20 Modern, and Fiasco. I've tried my hand as a GM.
I've also written a novel (currently unpublished, and still a work in progress).
It's a post modern reimagining of The Bacchae by Euripides set in the American Midwest after the collapse of the US government. Dionysus, god of wine and fertility ends up in a conflict with his conservative Christian cousin over religious and political differences. It ends with lots of violence and death. I've still got problems to resolve in Act 4, but I haven't been working on it lately.
I first tried my hand in on-line role play through a sight that was almost exclusively themed around sex. I was looking to improve my sex scene writing. It helped a lot.
I wrote both male and female characters, and did both queer and cis/het scenes. I even ran a group roleplay of my own design... an urban fantasy. Dionysus opened a debaucherous theater in town and called for open auditions. I managed to attract a couple of demons, a demented magician, a fae, a human innocent, and even an ancient djinn. It got to be a lot to manage... in addition to playing D, I was also running a sayter, a dominatrix, and the muse Terpsichore.
I have a bit of a Dionysus obsession.
Right now I'm just looking to start writing again at all. Roleplay seems like a good way to get inspired and keep myself accountable.
I'm interested in all sorts of stories, but I'd prefer to focus on roleplay that's not overtly sexual. I don't mind at all if sex rises naturally from character interactions, but I'd like to focus on character development.
I look forward to playing with you.
