Hello! The bones of this story have been floating around in my noggin for awhile. I tried to solo write it but alas, my solo writing muse is kinda dead. So I'm tossing it out into the winds to see if anyone else would be interested in this idea.
Premise: There is a society is that is very authoritarian with a strict class system. The city has high walls that protect it from the wilds beyond. Those in charge teach the citizens that monsters, demons and wild men live outside the wall and thus the society that has been created is for the benefit of all. Anyone can fall down the class system but rarely raise from the lower rungs.
My character, Valkie, was born to the upper class and expects to serve the society with a cushy job. However, something happens (TBD on what this is) and she finds herself stripped of class and assigned to work in the pleasure houses. To her, this is a fate worse than death so she escapes the city and finds herself into the wilds. She figured that whatever is out there is better than what was left for her in the city.
Valkie has absolutely no survival skills except a will to live and a temper to match. She ends up meeting some for the 'wild men' who turn out to be demon hunters who go through the wilds and hunt monsters that threaten to overwhelm the world. Thus, she makes a choice and becomes one herself, learning how to fight and survive.
In terms of plot ideas, we could just focus on fun demon hunting adventures or maybe she eventually leads a revolution against the society. World building is also very flexible and happy to get as detailed as we want to go.
