Sometime over the years, his father became distant, which led to their decent life, becoming rather cold and lonely. This turn of events, eventually ended up with his mother dying of a broken heart. And the final rift between himself and his father occurred when he didn't show up to pay his respects to Nora. And now, Marcus absolutely loathes his father, blaming him for the heartache he caused his mother to endure.
On a lighter note, now that Marcus is an adult, he's found himself an amazing and sweet boyfriend, by the name of Paul. And his life is a bit happier, thanks to his boyfriend. Even more so with his job at his favorite place to visit, the library.

Bio: Tariel is the fourth child, the youngest of three older brothers. Their father was a disgraced war general, and their mother was a healer for the sick. Magic flows through the Brackridge veins, but not as strong as it does in Tariel. So before their parents were killed, they had special steel cuffs made for Tariel to wear, and the cuffs are designed to keep the magic raging in her veins from spilling out of control.
