The wierd thing is there was always magic, there has always been magic we simply forgot it was there. Knowledge and , theory and science and proof got in the way of a thing that had always been. And decpite the many monuments scattered around the world to it existence humanity simply refused to admit it more than a fairy tale. Then one day it all came full circle we remembered, oh, how we remembered! Within a decade mankind had rocketed forward. Technology, creativity , medicine and moreover it belonged to noone. Noone could claim ownership because it was everywhere. No what put you in the lead for development or exploration was simply the matter of how quickly you could utilise this wonderful gift.
Until one day everyone woke up and over half the world was missing. Well the globe itself remained. But literal cities had vanished. People were gone from their beds. For some just a single item seemed to vanish .For others a precious memory.

And so the fine print was revealed .
Most people understood there was a price you made when you cast a spell, summoned something, used magic to enhance an already existing ability. Whatever your pleasure, a deal was struck .
THe mundane had to provide the plane from which we drew magic with something equivalent in cost.
Now human beings so focused as they are on material wealth and gain assumed whatever fair offer they made would be accepted. And so it was. For a while. What most did not understand was that the price did not have to physical.

Unbeknownst to the majority and masses however Governments guided by Corporate Entities had discovered a way to maximize the amount of magic they could glean from the Allure as it had come to be called.

They realised they could summon physical creatures from the Allure and quite literally use them like batteries . It was quicker it could be controlled and used as and when needed. Once depleted they were dispelled. No regard for the fact there was sentience in these beings. They were summoned in their thousands and it was as the last of these stood poised to fall . The cataclysm occurred.

That was 15 years ago. It took time for the world to discover the extent of its losses. But it's not over.
Some refuse to give it up, will not accept that humanity is not equipped for such a gift and attempt to recover what was lost the only way they now how. Pulling the world Futher into darkness.
A Small group of influential and knowledgeable people, consisting of scholars, technicians and two mages wishing to redress the balance have gathered to stop these last remaining corporate heads. Who still run insist that the death camps for these creatures from the Allure is the only way to get things back the way they were.
For want of a better name we will call the creatures Daemons.
The last of the knowledgeable are seeking someone, a Manhunter, a specialist in neutralising rogue elements. They know who that someone is, assuming they lived through the Cataclysm . It is assumed they did, they always did hav a stubborn refusal to die ,and the group doubt that has changed. However there will be times the mundane is not enough. For this the group have a volunteer from the original survivors of the Cataclysm. A Daemon fully prepared to use the last of their power to end this once and for all.
