hey there, i'm C! i'm 30, NB (he/they). i've got a few concepts i'm primarily focused on working with (will list towards the end), but for those interested in pitching other plots or wanting to gauge compatibility, here's the nitty-gritty of what i'm looking for!

✧✶ what i'm looking for ✶✧
  • M/M slow burn (AMAB non-binary is also more than okay.)
  • more story-driven vs romance focused
  • age 24+ preferably
  • open to writing with anyone of any gender

i average between 300 - 600 words for standard responses, often stretching beyond 1k for starters or transitionary replies.but note, i don't believe in forcing strict word count standards for the sake of it. quality > quantity, and often, less is more. the "lit", "adv. lit", "semi-lit", and "novella" categorizations are hard to gauge; please just let me know your standard word count or send me examples instead!

lowercase speak is strictly done OOC and is not reflective of the quality of my writing.

✧✶ interested in ✶✧
  • worldbuilding and travel elements
  • adventure fantasy
  • circus
  • fae creatures
  • supernatural elements
  • surrealistic themes
  • fantasy slice of life
  • victorian settings
  • ethereal concepts
  • 90/10, plot:smut ratio
  • androgynous characters preferred.

for high fantasy, i enjoy ethereal concepts that are almost entirely severed from reality, and would likely require a lot of worldbuilding and patience. character designs are often very androgynous for this category. i provide my own drawn references (stylized realism). since the topic of DnD comes up a bit, i am entirely unfamiliar with it (though not unwilling to work with similar elements to it, just offer some patience.) i am open to darker themes and have no notable triggers.

✧✶ not looking for ✶✧
  • war-centric or overly violent plots
  • absolutely zero AI reference images.
  • smut-centric roleplay (if this is your primary goal, i'm not for you.)
  • steampunk/cyberpunk
  • please no medieval royalty (both separately is fine, i'm just a little exhausted of prince/knight and similar dynamics currently)
  • and please no anime inspired plots.

1. the celestial metropolis.
summary: a utopian city built atop the caverns of a once thriving society, now forced to work below the city to mine for precious opal used to fuel the world above. inspired by metropolis (1927).
my character
a celestial being, born as a part of the ruling class for the city above. though knowing of the mining city below, he is not well-informed of conditions, and is generally naïve.

your character
an outraged worker from the city below, who forms a surprising alliance with my character, unfolding long told tales passed of the world as it was before — a history long forgotten.

general themes
⭒ adventure/travel
⭒ celestial themes
⭒ diverse landscapes and species of humanoids/animals
⭒ uprising
⭒ topics of mistreatment and harm

my character is a man born of the stars and a child of the divine, leaving the world at large so beautifully at his fingertips when his bloodline is revered and worshiped throughout the close-knit star system. the kingdom in which he lives is perched atop the highest point of the world: a crystalline castle with clouds wisped between its spires like rivers, of which reach so tall, some say it touches the foot of the heavens themselves.

but this planet hadn't always been his, having spent his childhood on their ruling star quite some distance away, before colonizing these lands — supposed saviors of this dying world — and it soon shows its terrible, terrible irony.

there's little known about the population that live below the heart of the kingdom, notorious hermits that have existed beneath the soil long before it had been colonized, finding peace in the caverns, for it had a wonderful glow of its own, a multi-colored wonder. that was the heart of the world that lit those deep, dark caverns, you see— lit aglow by the shifting, fractal light of the native opal, of which each color controls different facets of this exuberant world: green sustained the native flora, while blue kept the waters pure, and pink assured the local animals were satiated and well-fed, while orange fueled the much needed flame.

but white... it's the most abundant color which drives the very light itself, lending the planet its famous glow to be seen from incredible distances. as such, it is the most abused.

but the kingdom above needs the light, needs that ego-driven display of divinity as they fracture the heart of the planet — its precious opal — into splintered bits.

ignorance is bliss, however, and the divine intruders reel in the love born from their majestic glow: the prayers and worship, the places of worship and holidays created to honor they who colonized the lands. what they do not know about the injured opal will not hurt them, but what happens when the final fracture renders the heart dead? when the light of the world swallows to black, the plants wither, and the life that once was is left to suffocate?

the fragile state of the world isn't a new concept for those in the caverns, killing themselves bit by bit with every swing of the pickaxe, funneling the white, refracted light to the crystalline city, while they are left to slowly die alongside.

your character becomes outspoken, speaking of revolt and riot, so much so that it catches the attention of those of highest ruling, and sparks the initial seed in my character's head that things might not be quite as it seemed.

unfolding throughout, we learn more of the world as it was before, unweaving a soon-to-be-forgotten history as our characters traverse the lands in hopes of mending the fractures that have begun to spin out of anyone's control. whether it be fetching totems or otherwise, i'd love to travel to other anchor points of the world as a means to explore diverse lands and people.

you are free to create your own lore for your people! we can collaborate on it where you'd like to, but otherwise, you have full reign to do as you need to best suit your part of the storyline.

2. lost and roaming creatures, oh my!
summary: a world overrun by lost and roaming monsters. they're well-meaning and mostly harmless, but have become a great nuisance to the locals. this includes some absurd run-ins with clumsy creatures and TV adverts offering products such as 'ghost-be-gone!'.
premise
When a mysterious portal opens up in the heart of Elmwood, it's safe to say the townsfolk are far from prepared for the clumsy monsters that wander through. They're relatively harmless, at least — creatures both large and small, unassuming and absurd, some as picturesque as fairytale, while others are terribly grotesque. Needless to say, it turns the entire town on its head when their population suddenly becomes more monster than man, forced to welcome the bizarre as their new normal.

But monsters aside, Elmwood has always been a quiet place — one where the wind whispers through the gold-tinged leaves along the nearby mountainsides, and the song of the sprawling wildlife is their lullaby. Its population is tight-knit, yet hearty, reaching the low thousands, and acts as an anchor to the neighboring communities. It's cozy, too, with its perpetual autumn as fog swims between the trees after the day's rains, the streets a sea of yellow raincoats as daily commuters navigate the town's aging bus lines.

When the slow crawl of years proves the portal's permanence, it becomes a staple as researchers far and wide travel to study the strange phenomena. They come no closer to solving the issue despite, and in making the best of the worst, Elmwood decides to integrate them in some not-so-conventional ways.

Wandering ghosts are propped up as employees to the town's local coffee chain, utterly useless aside from their need for ominous storytelling and haunting the occasional tourist. Then there is the insatiable wendigo who now drives the town's busiest route, the worst driver by far, as he stalls between every onboarding passenger like an open buffet. Many a job has been infiltrated in the need to create a middle ground, yet the more they become entwined with the town, the more divisive the climate becomes.

The townsfolk are at their wits' end, tired of the TV adverts for newly tested ghost repellents, or getting tricked by the local fae. Something has got to give, but when? …and how?

my character

From the outside, Boston's life is plain and unassuming — working the dull office 9 - 5 beneath the flickering fluorescents, all before chaos finds him once home.

He lives in a rickety house cradled between the pines where living alone can never be lonely, not when the monsters can't help themselves from wandering through. Boston has gone through a myriad of methods to keep his peace in the woods, meticulously booby-trapping his home in hopes of keeping them out, to no avail. When it faces him with the ultimatum to leave or stay, he grudgingly chooses tolerance.

There are mischievous beings that take up residence in his home, a nuisance, but dare he say, he's come to enjoy it. His main guests are a devious fairy, a shapeshifter, and a demon, all of which color his world with a wild array of entertainment and chaos, each day its own surprise. And with the need to make his voice heard about his experiences to anything other than his own head, he starts a blog.

In the days of dial-up and AIM and brick maze screensavers, the internet feels so small, so he thinks nothing of it when he shares bits of his day-to-day with anyone who might read. He posts to websites the likes of Xanga or LiveJournal, an open, though anonymous, diary entry that's spit into the void, boasting drawings or comic strips that show little slices of his life to a slowly growing audience as the greater world becomes a witness to the oddities of Elmwood.

your character
I am open to hearing any character ideas, whether it be a monster hunter who somehow breaches realms through the portal, a visiting researcher or tourist, or even one of the creatures themselves. I'd love to hear what ideas you have to offer!

general themes
Set in the Pacific Northwest, early 00's, autumnal, minimal to no magic (in Elmwood, specifically), generally light-hearted, absurd and surrealistic, mythical creatures and cryptids. Open to realm-hopping and exploring fantasy worlds. If a quickly developing romance or a shortcut to smut is your primary interest, I am unfortunately not for you.

Inspired by seasonal haunted houses and Meow Wolf (if ya know, ya know).
