Gonna keep this short and sweet. I'm Crow. I generally respond around once a week, third person, multi-paragraph post length. I expect the same in return. I appreciate good communication. We can discuss any ideas you may come up with, no matter how absurd or twisted they may be. Fairly few limits on kinks or themes.
Now:
2279. Colorado. 2 years after the first battle of hoover dam.
Hidden in the forests to the west of Denver lies a small settlement. Its people have been mostly isolated for generations, occasionally trading with the surrounding communities and getting into conflict with tribals and raiders. Besides the occasional skirmish, life there is good. Its people are well fed and hardy, living off of hunting the surrounding mutated fauna, growing their own crops, and possessing a secret, bountiful source of clean water, meds, maybe even weapons. The town hides a vault from outsiders, where its people originally emerged from. Outside of the town, the world is rough and uncivilized, giving good reason for the community to remain insular.
They are vaguely aware of the massive army far to the west, in neighboring Arizona, known as Caesar's Legion. What they've heard sounds like it has been exaggerated in translation: cities burned to the ground, rows of people crucified, the rest taken as slaves. A hulking demon of a commander, wielding a blade the size of a person. Convential wisdom is that rumors grow teeth the more they are told, that there is surely no truth to the stories. But, unbeknownst to them, the legion is on the move. After suffering a catastrophic defeat on the Western front, the legion's second in command, Legate Graham, was set on fire and tossed into the Grand canyon as punishment for his failure. His successor, Legate Lanius, was ordered by the Caesar to begin a new campaign, to rebuild the legion's numbers by conquering eastward. Day by day, they grow closer and closer. Eventually, caravans start to disappear, refugees appear, the warning signs stack and stack. The legion is coming.
Then, There's a new arrival to the town, a mercenary who quickly makes himself useful, becoming a trusted member of the community. He comes months and months, maybe even years before any sign of the legion's march appears. In truth, he is a legion frumentarius, sent east with orders to identify potential resources and weaken potential resistance far ahead of the legion's armies. So, when he hears rumors of an unusually prosperous, self-sustaining community, his mission becomes to find the place and investigate it. When he learns of the vault hidden within or nearby the town, it becomes clear that this place could be incredibly valuable in the conquest of Colorado.
Complicating things, is his relationship with a woman from the town. She could be a leader of some sort, or important to the place in another way, like being a doctor. Initially, he intends to use her for information, to earn her trust and that of the community...but then he develops genuine feelings and respect for her. Even as he deceives the town and sets them up for failure, he knows that he's putting the woman he loves in Lanius' warpath. Will she learn the truth before it's too late? He was born in the legion, molded by it. He's a firm believer in the order the legion represents, but can she make him question his beliefs? He knows that there is no standing against the strength of the legion when it comes, but will she get him to die trying, anyway? Will he decide to run away with her to save her? Will he fulfill his duty to the legion but do everything he can to ensure her freedom and happiness even as her friends and family are killed or enslaved? Well...
That any other details would be great to discuss with someone who is interested! PM me!
