KING OF FLIES
The Situation:
Bus transportation has become a reliable form of travel in the modern world. Tickets often come cheap at the sacrifice of privacy and comfort. If one finds themselves with a will strong enough to deal with their fellow passengers, transport can be made simple and easy. Of course, the will in question would depend on the duration of their travel. Along the way, one should expect to meet a variety of people- all of whom come from all walks of life.
Bus stations allow for rest before the next boarding. Payphones, vending machines, and customer service are offered to the public. Safe to say, the stations are quite busy. Even in rural areas, expect a long line to the bathroom.
Muse A (M Role) and Muse B (F Role) will arrive at Ridgeback Bus Station in early December. Although the two had different destinations, they would be stepping off the same bus. On the way to the station, snow had already begun to fall. It was a miracle how the driver was able to see the road. But that didnโt matter now. The station was safe and warm, with an hour to spare until their next bus arrived- thanks to the weather delaying incoming traffic.
Other passengers waiting to board began talking. The weather was getting bad. Snow was starting to fall faster, and winds were picking up. It looked like a snowstorm was approaching. Not good for anyone running on a tight schedule.
If only they knew, most wouldnโt be leaving the station alive.
The intercom announced emergency weather broadcasts. The station had found itself in the middle of a severe and unpredicted blizzard. The buses would soon be trapped in a wall of snow, power would be lost, and there wasnโt enough food to feed everyone for more than a week.
Muse A and Muse B will find themselves in the middle of a growing tribalism society. Individuals that arrived on the same bus grouped together, forming their own โpacksโ and appointing a leader to speak for the group. Each group took a territory within the facility, guarding what resources their territory possessed.
The system worked until food ran out. What happens when 70 people canโt eat?
PLOT SPECIFICS:
โข Yes, itโs a โLord of the Fliesโ scenario.
โข Tribalism meaning: Tribalism is the intense loyalty to a social group โ a โtribeโ โ often creating an โus vs. themโ mentality that prioritizes in-group interests over outsiders. (AKA the buses splitting into groups. Whoever you arrived with, you grouped with.)
โข Leaving will not be a realistic option. For the sake of the story, NPCs will risk it โ they will never return. Buses will no longer be usable.
โข The โblizzardโ wonโt act like a natural blizzard. Thereโs going to be a paranormal aspect to it. Almost like our characters were in purgatory; no matter how far they managed to go, purgatory is designed to keep them from leaving. The weather here will not act according to natural laws.
โข Our characters will be complete strangers to one another. As for your OC, their reason for traveling is entirely up to you. They could be running from a bad past, wanting a fresh start, etc.
โข Despite the high tension aspect of this plot, romance and ERP are available for this plot. Trauma bonding, adrenaline, and primal instincts make for a good recipe.
โข No one knows how long the blizzard will last. There will be a point where passengers realize they wonโt make it until rescue.
โข Ridgeback Bus Station is located in the middle of rural country. Characters should be aware how long emergency services would take to make it to the station on a day with good weather.
โข The M role (Muse A) will be the appointed โLeaderโ for their group. If youโre interested in being Muse A, please provide a character with leadership qualities. He needs to be strong-willed but not reckless. Thereโs a delicate balance when it comes to violent tribalism!
