Magic System:
In Farenwyn magic is reliant on inherent power granted to the different races through their ancestry and attachment to different planes of existence. For example Elves are descendants of Fae that lived on Farenwyn long ago but have since moved on to live in a different plane of existence. Depending on which type of Fae their ancestry stems from they would have different powers because those different forms of Fae have attachments to different planes. Most elves are related to foresty types of Fae with strong links to the Plane of Growth/Life.
Humans have no connection to extraplanar dimensions through ancestry. They do however have ways of accessing magic. Magic of the Mortal/Physical plane that all the races live on. The land of Farenwyn is laced with Ley lines. Places where they cross over each other are rare and powerful locations that humans, since discovering them in the last century, have begun to build upon. Massive cities, colleges, temples. Wars have been and are being fought over this territory on a political and literal level. Staying in one of these locations for a decade is one of the only ways humans gain access to magic. The magic originates from Farenwyn and therefore it is some of the most powerful magic accessible to anyone on the planet let alone humans.
Magic can manifest in many different ways but will typically align around it's source material and the personality of the wielder.

Humans:
Humans are innovative, ambitious, passionate, hateful and quick to die. Compared to other races, human life spans are shockingly quick to come and go. From that perspective humans also appear to build and destroy their cities, societies, and governments with reckless abandon. Where some elven civilizations have had the same monarchy for 10,000 years, human monarchies come and go in a century or two. Despite everything humans remain the most adaptable and dangerous race on the planet. They have resistances to extraplanar magic and are the only race genuinely native to Farenwyn. They are also the only race compatible reproductively to every other race. Their passion and love for life is contagious for many people of other races and despite knowing their human partners will die long before them, mixed race couples with humans are frequent and reportedly some of the most fulfilling and exciting for the longer lived people.

Elves:
Elves were the first race to invade the world of Farenwyn, but not as Elves we know today, but as the Fae. Immortal and strange extraplanar creatures came to inhabit the world in early days and some of them stayed. However, what the left behind were the elves. Crossbreeds of humans and Fae, Elves live enormously long lives and are far more similar to their human counterparts than they'd like you to believe. While they aspire to mirror the Fae courts and live to their standards, Elves have human emotions and desires, if usually suppressed. They have significantly more patience due to their long lives and are typically unworried by the state of affairs in other locations. They tend to isolate themselves as a species. Choosing to try to maintain a purity of bloodline of their race as the more they breed with humans the weaker their connection to the Fae. They have grand cities build over millennia and strict codes they usually live by. This doesn't mean elves don't go out and sleep with humans, quite the opposite. Just like humans, being told what to do and what not to do is a very quick way to get them to immediately go do that thing. That thing being humans.
There are many different kinds of elves based on their ancestry. Depending on whether they come from Life/Growth Fae or Death/Decay Fae they will take on different abilities and aspects.

Half Elves:
They have half the life span of elves and tend to consider themselves more human than elf regardless of if that's true. The term half elf is not always indicative exactly how much of each side they have in their heritage. A quarter elf would still be called a half elf even if their life span and elven nature was even less of that of a true "half" elf. They usually aren't allowed to live in elven cities but are always welcomed by the humans as a whole. Obviously racism will always exist and there will always be halfy haters.

Ordarians/Nephilims:
The product of humans and being of Order. Usually referred to as Angels, the being of Order can actually range quite a bit in form and appearance. Ordarians are a very uncommon race and do not have cities of their own. They frequently gain positions of power due to their ancestry and are really stuck up about rules.

Creatures of Chaos:
These arent' really a race. Unlike beings of order, creatures of chaos roam the planet freely as what are considered monsters. They act like monsters and are treated as such.

Tieflings:
Half human half demon. Pretty much just like the dnd version but like half elves they tend to lean more into their human side. Racism towards them can be very intense so sometimes, well, frequently, they become more demonic and have to be killed or captured. People try not to get on their bad side which isolates them. They are less rare than Ordarians and much more hated despite being more like the common man than a stuck up Ordarian. Religious propaganda sucks.
