Description:
Standing at roughly 6'1 Kieran can make for an imposing figure when necessary. He wears dark clothes and tends to stick to the outskirts of social gathering in an attempt to blend into the shadows as best he can. Due to his work taking place mostly after dark Kieran has rather pale skin which though not unflattering on a regular day can make him seem very ill when he is even slightly under the weather; an aspect he has used to his advantage in the past. His extremely dark hair does not help his complexion though both these things do draw attention to his attentive green eyes.
Biography:
Kieran was raised in a privileged household despite the circumstances of his birth. The eldest child of a rich and influential lord with ties to the throne he was none the less considered an illegitimate child as his parents never married; his mother, a powerful witch, leaving his father soon after his birth for a better marriage. Despite this, he was his father's favourite child even after a subsequent short marriage and the birth of two more sons.
His father, however, was a cruel and manipulative man whose entire life revolved around furthering his political career to become closer to the king in order to claim the throne. Kieran received the best education and military training in the kingdom as well as being introduced into all the best social circles but he also received frequent beatings at the hands of his father and his followers in an attempt to keep him obedient. In an attempt to escape from this he began to frequent the underbelly of the city, learning more from thieves, assassins, and mages than he ever could from teachers. Despite the connections he made there he felt unable to leave his father's home out of duty to protect his younger siblings.
However, because of his father's tendency to make powerful enemies, he was soon pushed out of favour. Kieran took the opportunity this brought to separate from him, aligning with his enemies to insure protection and taking his brothers with him. With the knowledge he provided, his father was banished from the court and his assets seized. For his help, the lords involved though not fully trusting him shielded Kieran from the consequences of his father's actions and provided lodgings and an allowance for his brothers and him. Though their intentions were not necessarily honourable as they hoped to be able to use him in the future.
For his part, Kieran no longer had a reason to mix with high society and in fact, thought it would be detrimental to his and his brothers future. Instead, he began to frequent the city's underbelly again and used his many skills to make a reputation for himself as well as amass his own fortune. While he kept his true identity a secret through a network of allies he quickly acquired a reputation as the type of person you went to when you had a problem that needed fixing, no matter how underhanded his methods may be, and he never suffered from a shortage of clients. At the same time, he would steal from the wealthy he was still surrounded by though this was more for entertainment than anything else.
His fortunes changed again when the royals and several noble families were assassinated. Though neither he nor his father had anything to do with it it soon became clear that he was the closest in line for the throne setting him at odds with the lord who had taken it after the king's death. With no reason to remain and increasing, threats from the king Kieran and his brothers fled the dangers of the courts for the freedom of the streets. Using the fortune he'd already begun to amass Kieran set himself up as a protector of the weak in a kingdom that soon became rampant with abuse of power and violence.
