"What in thundernation?!"
Alaric filled a container with some ful medames when the words loudly reached his ears. The elder gentlemen he had served just moments before was sitting nearby at a table with his wife, chatting up a storm. He covered the bowl, handing it to the current patron, the sound of coins dropping onto his coin dish just barely interrupting the very vocal gentlemen.
"Is… is everything alright, sir?" Alaric inquired curiously.
"Alright?" The elder man sputtered. "Why, if my pizzle wasn't old and defunct, it'd be harder than stone, I tell ya."
"'Ey, pipe down you klazomaniac, rest of us wanna eat in peace!"
The flush on Alaric's face was, thankfully, hidden by the heat of the stove he had spent much of the day around. The two gentlemen were staring each other down, half out of their seats on opposite ends of the sitting area, ready to fight. The only thing Alaric could see out of this were two old cats batting at each other and tiring out everything but their mouths.
"You fopdoodle, no one asked for you to speak up!" He yelled back, still as loudly as this had started.
Alaric had to pull himself away from the scene at hand, smiling at the patron before him. "What can I get for you?"
"Consarn it, Alaric!" He heard again, the man shivering more of his shawarma in his mouth. "Mmf, best… mmf, food…"
"If you don't shut yer trap…"
Suddenly food was being thrown across the tables, plates and cups tossed between the two men. Adults not wanting to get involved scattered while children laughed and joined in on the fun, repeating words that had their parents growing upset.
"Gentlemen, gentlemen, please…" It was a rare thing for Alaric to ever have to raise his voice, nor did he ever find that he wanted to. He sighed heavily, turning back to his patron and working on their order. Setting some falafel in one container and baklava in another, he smiled warmly, offering their food and turning back to the disastrous food fight.
"You hywan, you're ruining perfectly good food, jelly belly nitwitted donkey!"
"Ayreh feek-"
"GENTLEMEN!"
Food flying through the air fell, hitting the people or the ground as everyone turned toward Alaric. No one had ever heard him raise his voice, only ever so soft spoken and yet it reverberated over the crowd, easily capturing their attention.
"I am ecstatic you enjoy my food, but I much prefer the guards not make an appearance."
"'Ey, I just wanted you to know how go'damn good yer food was…"
"Could've told 'em without SHOUTING!"
"You wishywashy shit-for-brains…"
Alaric sighed as food went flying through the air again.
