My first offering is, in fact, a character. I don't usually make character sheets but for the sake of expediency, here we go.
Name: Ricardo (Ricky) Costa
Age: 40ish
Setting: 1948 Post-War Los Angeles
Appearance: 5'11 but he wears lifts in his shoes, built from sinewy muscle and rebar, though he looks like he could use a few good meals. Sleepy, deep-set brown eyes, with darkened lids and wells underneath. Light brown skin kept lighter by staying out of the sun as much as possible. His face is handsome, made younger by the lack of lines, and his expression stays at an almost haunting neutrality most of the time.
But What's His Deal?
Ricky has just been made a capo in the Los Angeles Crime Family, much to the chagrin of the gang's other lieutenants. They don't understand why a half-Mexican (insert slur here) has been allowed to climb the ranks alongside them and they don't hesitate to let him know it, although for the life of them, they've never been able to get him to react to their baiting. Ricky barely seems to notice them, even while his adopted brother seethes in the corner whenever one of them barks an insult. But Ricky doesn't care. Ricky has his sleepy eyes set on bigger things, and he knows they'll all eat their words, as well as a few bullets, by the time he's done fucking them over.
Our story begins immediately after Ricky's promotion. He's decided to celebrate, which he does by rolling up to a casino that would normally tell a man with his skin color to fuck off. But no one's turning away one of Bugsy Siegal's most notable men. He weaves his way through the crowds, unfazed by the stares shot his way, and shops for an angel to make his night perfect.
The Perfect Partner for Ricky is a sex worker, escort, or, in the parlance of the era, an angel. The man has very specific needs, however. Firstly, discretion, because Ricky isn't just any man, even beyond his position; Ricky is intersex. We can talk about his specific genitalia when we message each other, but the point is that he's not cis, and he needs a woman who can keep his secret. He also needs a woman who wants to hurt him - not emotionally, but physically, because Ricky is a dominant masochist. It is a really fun combination of traits to play. He'll fuck his ladies senseless, no doubt about it, but he wants to have purple bruises, bite marks, and dark red lines carved into every inch of his skin that can be hidden under a sharp suit, and maybe a few that he won't be able to hide at all. The more you hurt him, the more relaxed he gets.
I'm always keen to play with crime and gangster stuff, and it doesn't have to be mobsters. Street gangs, Yakuza, Bratva, whatever. My absolute favorite pairing to play is mobster/sex worker, although I typically prefer to play the sex worker and I'll go absolutely feral for a plot like that. I'm down for any other pairings, though, just bring me your ideas!

Okay, so, I finally watched Heated Rivalry and oh my god. I want the aggression, the tension. It doesn't necessarily have to be sports people, either, although that's pretty fucking classic. It can be rival magicians, or knights in training, or Roman legionnaires. The key ingredients are one cocksure sonofabitch and one too-serious motherfucker that sorta kinda don't exactly hate each other. I'm generally happy to play either one.

The above two spoilers include their fair share of historical fiction plots, so if you're interested in 1950s LA mobsters, Arthurian knights, Roman legionnaires, and feudal Japan, I recommend checking them out.

I have three regency-era plots I'd like to write.
In the first, our Young Lady (your character) has recently been introduced to the marriage market in a Bridgerton-style English court where nobility can be any color. She may or may not be happy about needing a husband and taking her Place in Society, that part is entirely up to you and I can see the appeal in either option. Enter our Young Man, a lordling who seems to have appeared from nowhere. He's the nephew of a Lord at court and everyone is curious about him - especially once he shows up at his first ball, boyish and handsome with dimples that show up when he grins. He flirts easily with all the ladies, even the widows and mamas who usually get no attention of their own, tells marvelous stories, and wears rich Parisian fashions.
What the court doesn't realize is that this Young Man grew up attending the same social engagements as all of them. He simply attended them wearing a dress. Was he friends with our Young Lady? Maybe frienemies? What does she do when she finds out? Does she share the secret with anyone?
In our second story, our Gentleman (your character) is a bachelor. He's in his late thirties and really should have taken a wife by now, but since he's only the second cousin of an Earl - and an Earl with several sons, at that - he doesn't feel the need. Why force himself through the charade when he could never really love the poor woman? It wouldn't be fair to either of them.
He's surprised when, out at his country estate, he receives a letter. His cousin the Earl has a favor to ask. It seems that one of his few daughters has realized that she isn't a daughter at all, but a son. This revelation would be a lot for any family but the parents are supportive, and they ask that our Gentleman take this new Young Man under his wing for a time. Teach him how to be a gentleman himself, somewhere away from the court and all its intrigues, the rampant gossip. Let him learn how to be a man in peace and without judgment.
Perhaps our Gentleman does it as a favor. Perhaps begrudgingly, or perhaps happily; he might enjoy his solitude but then again, he might appreciate some company. Either way, he appreciates his company much better once he gets to know the Young Man in question. Perhaps they both like books, or science, or art, or the outdoors. Perhaps he finds it satisfying to help the lad select his wardrobe and teach him how to talk to a valet. Perhaps they find comradery in hunting and riding, or cards, or some other interest afforded to gentlemen.
Whatever the case, our Gentleman's gaze begins to shift from appraisal to affection, then to avarice. He finds it grating to watch the boy flirt with girls, or talk of going to parties with his new young male friends. When the boy plays his violin - something he learned as a girl but continues to find joy in - his mentor can't help staring with a hunger in his eyes. He's taught him well, yes, and that should be enough. It should be.
But it isn't.
Little does he know, it's not quite enough for our Young Man, either.
In our third (and most highly craved) plot, which I am dubbing 'Regency Himbos', YC is a Lord. Perhaps this lord is a well-known rake, or perhaps he is even married and with a family, as is the duty of all lords. His life is full of investments and family and time at his club, gambling and drinking and occasionally spending time with a lady of uneasy virtue who manages to divert his attention. It's a good life. A simple life.
The moment when his life becomes complicated is the moment a scene begins on-stage at the opening night of the opera while a new soprano makes their debut.
A young, male soprano.
While the Young Man is capable of singing tenor parts and has been cast in many lead romantic roles, he is famed for his operatic falsetto as well as his beauty - and it's easy to see why. His fine-boned features and flowing curls glow under the house lights, his costume of diaphanous silks and tulle and hand-stitched leaves casting him in the role of some ethereal fae. He is enchanting, and our Lord is enchanted.
What follows is up to us, but my most sincere hope is to explore the idea of our Lord coming to grips with his bisexuality as he seeks first to meet, and then get to know our opera singer. Perhaps he's always known he has more diverse sexual tastes than most and is only just exploring it, or exploring it for the first time since he was a youth sowing his wild oats; perhaps he's never found himself attracted to a man before and is having to grapple with the concept for the very first time in his life. Whatever the case, I'm hoping for a lot of tension and longing looks between our leading men, even after they've kissed for the first time.
I would also be happy to do an mxf variation of this plot. Perhaps I play a young nobleman, a second son or cousin to an heir sort of thing, who falls in love with a female soprano (or even a male baritone, if you are looking to be the beautiful enchanter in an mxm plot). Perhaps you play a noble woman who falls in love with my male soprano. Lots of options!

While those Lords and Ladies lived in stuffy, over-dignified houses, a much different kind of society was taking hold on the high seas. They had their own rules of conduct, their own sensitive egos, and a much broader selection of social interactions to enjoy - or, then again, not. "Torture," in this world, is not just a euphemism for a bad party.
In these stories, I will choose to suspend disbelief because frankly, I don't want to write about syphilis and smallpox and the smell of decaying humanity (not to mention fish) that surely haunted most pirate ships of the time. Let's not talk too much about the bathing situation, hm? And while the Golden Age of Piracy is generally considered 1680-1720, I don't feel strongly about keeping the entire world as it would have been in reality. Like, what if there were actual sea monsters to fight? What if ghost ships really did sail the seas? What if magic exists? It's our story, we can do what we want with it.
I have a few very loose ideas for stories in this section. I'm not married to any of the genders in the plots aside from my own characters', so feel free to make it f/m or m/m or enbies or whatever you like!
First, the classic, because we love a trope in this house: The Kidnapped Noble. Yes, yes, we've all seen it done, but what if we made it gay? What if a pirate lady captures a nobleman's son? Let's add some variety, people.
I'd love to play a trans captain who kidnaps a young noble lady from a port in the Caribbean or perhaps off the Gold Coast. Maybe she's on a ship to meet her new husband when it's attacked by pirates. In what I'll call 'Version A' of this one, she distrusts the pirates and obviously doesn't want to go with them, but the captain has decided she's worth something if ransomed to her father. Classic. He keeps her safe from the rest of the crew, some of whom are not overly reputable, in his quarters, where the two of them forge an unlikely relationship.
In Version B of this plot, the young lady hates the idea of wherever she's being sent. Maybe it's the place, maybe it's the idea of getting married. Maybe she's always hated the role she's been playing her whole life and is absolutely desperate to escape it. Imagine her excitement, then, when the ship she's been thinking of as her funeral barge is besieged by the very characters she's read about in publications back home. Rogues and rakes, the lot of them, but so free, free to do whatever they liked and see so much of this beautiful world.
When the pirates have subdued everyone (with surprisingly minimal fatalities), she gets her chance to appeal for her freedom. The man the rest of them clearly call 'captain' is right in front of her, watching his men carry their spoils across the gangplank. What will she do?
I'd be happy to swap genders around with this one too, or make it mxm. I'd particularly enjoy playing an effeminate noble lad who gets taken for ransom.
I also really like the idea of rival captains - not necessarily both pirates. Maybe one of them is in the English or Spanish navy and is hunting down a particular pirate, and every time they clash, the pirate gets away (although not necessarily in victory). Maybe they start to develop a mutual respect of one another's seamanship, and then they end up marooned together or something. When does animosity become tension? When does tension snap?
Aaaaand of course there's the old standby of brothel worker/pirate. I'd even be happy to appropriate Ricky (under the Gangsters spoiler) as a pirate captain, although I'd likely have to give him a different nickname lmao. But I'd also be happy to play as the brothel worker. It's been a while since I got to do that.
