Hello everyone.
Having found this site through a standard Google search for the best roleplaying sites, this place caught my eye. I hope to find creative, interesting, and enticing roleplaying partners, to build up a riveting story together. I like to consider myself a reasonably accomplished writer, paying attention to detail and plot pacing. I have roleplayed, on an on-off basis, for the better part of a decade, mostly in one on one, or small group roleplays.
My favourite settings are Science Fiction, Cyberpunk, Post Apocalyptic, and real-world settings, be it present or past (not prior to the start of 20th century, however). Medieval and fantasy (sword&sorcery) settings are less appealing to me, but still an option when I'm in the mood. Passion, smut and sexuality serve the plot purposes as needed, but are never the focus for me.
I like to think of my writing style as functional, utilitarian, descriptive of the plot events, and focusing more on what's going on, then on the emotional states of the characters involved (for that reason, I do not like writing overly romantic/emotional scenes). I describe the environment in some considerable detail, but no more then necessary to ground the plot. The main focus is always the events occurring, and the plot pacing. If I feel the narrative is stuck too long on a single scene, I tend to direct my partner(s) attention to it, so we can find ways to progress the plot beyond that point as quickly as possible, to keep the pacing of the RP going. Realistic depiction of events plays a big part for me. I do not like fanciful writing, ignoring real-world physics, for example, characters ignoring any negative conditions/injuries they receive in the plot, or basically being overpowered or not grounded with real-world rules in any way. When it comes to combat scenes of any kind, I put a lot of detail in them, having quite a bit of real-world experience, both in unarmed/melee sparring and combat, and the use of firearms. Realism in combat is a requirement, not an option (adjusted to whichever setting we are roleplaying in, of course, with some lattitude and imagination being alright, in the case of combat techniques and weapons non-existent in real life).
What I expect from my partner(s)? First - consistency and reliability. Typically, I tend to post 2-3 times a week. While I do not expect my partner(s) to match that rate of posting, if more then a week passes without a reply, I will PM my partner(s), and ask for an explanation for the delay. If no satisfactory one is provided, I will discontinue my part from the RP. If my partner(s) are indisposed to post for a significant period of time, I expect to be informed in advance, as well as an estimated time at which they will be able to post again. I will of course likewise provide my reasons for any absences, if necessary, and the time at which I will likely be able to post again.
Second - courtesy and manners. We are partners in this, and it is supposed to be fun, for all parties involved. I have no tolerance for histrionics, temper tantrums, baseless accusations, or other unpleasant behaviors. Sometimes real life issues can affect our disposition, but I believe it's our responsibility to prevent those issues from influencing our behaviour toward our RP partners. I treat my partners with courtesy and respect. I expect the same in return.
Third - roleplay manners. I do not tolerate my partner(s) godmodding my character(s), unless specifically given permission. No taking over their actions, or dictating how they should be reacting to any given situation. That is on me, and me alone. I also dislike getting one-liner replies, where I can see no effort was put into it. Roleplaying means creating a story together. One-liners are counterproductive to that. A paragraph at a minimum, preferably two. More as required by the plot.
Fourth - grammar. I am not a native English speaker, but I make an effort to use the written English language properly, when roleplaying. I won't say my grammar is perfect, but I do try to make it so. I don't insist on perfect grammar in return, but I also will not read text which I have to "decipher", in order to understand. Please try to make your wording, punctuation, and sentence structure proper and legible.
Thank you all for reading through my (admittedly rather lengthy) introduction, and I hope we all have a good time roleplaying together! :)
