Becoming a mermaid

Power/ability: telekinesis and manipulation of water (can freeze, boil, solidify— like turn it into a jelly substance or magical glass, change its shape, and make it poof)

Personality: Rikki is shy and quiet with people she doesn't know -- even when there's people she didn't talk much either -- she's a woman of few words. When you do get he talking, she's got a smart mouth -- witty, sarcastic, potty mouth -- the whole package. Rikki doesn't let people get closer to her or know her, she's private with her feelings and plans. Very kind and polite unless you get on her bad side or she hasn't eaten all day. Swimming expert and water lover.

History:

When Rikki was 16 and her little sister -- Samantha -- was 10 their mother -- Deborah Filch -- died. That left Rikki and Samantha and their father -- Alexander Walter -- devastated. Rikki's father owns the main Boatyard in Aqua Bella and the fact that they have lived in a beach town their whole lives helped develop Rikki's love for water. Rikki was a great swimmer, the whole town new that. She didn't just swim for fun, she would swim competitively and even won state championships years straight -- taking the win and breaking records. Rikki soon realized swimming was just a dream and wouldn't get her anywhere she wanted to go.

She didn't want live as a face in the sports business, Rikki wanted an education and a good future in her home town -- Aqua Bella. So Rikki traded her medals and ribbons for an apron and minimum wage job at The Ocean Café. She's working to save money and put herself through college and hopefully become an oceanographer. Rikki only has one friend -- Jesse -- and other people she knows she usually swims with. Everyone knows everyone in Aqua Bella anyway. Rikki is now 22 and her little sister -- Samantha -- is 16 -- yikes -- and Rikki still lives with her father. She couldn't bare leaving him alone with that devil of a child and truth is Rikki was forced to grow up when her mother died and become a mother in her own way. Alexander was broken at first and he didn't know how to do the Mr.Mom thing.

Rikki never knew much of her mom, only that Deborah ran from home when she was of legal age to leave and never looked back. Her mother never talked about her past, but she loved water just like Rikki. It almost seemed like Deborah knew all the secrets to water like she used to live in it once, but Rikki never asked much. She appreciated her mothers quiet presence, but when she died... she found herself wishing she had done more. Rikki wanted to have that energy too when she walked in a room -- the-I-know-the-secrets-to-the-ocean-energy -- and she's working hard to get there.

Personality: Jesse is a charmer, he's really sweet -- especially to the ladies -- of course he's also the joker in the school -- of fish ;) --. He looks like he'd be one of the dumb cuties and maybe he even acts like it, but don't sleep Jesse is smarter then you think. Adventurous and brave young Jesse and nothing gets in his. Also don't mess with his friends or your getting knocked out.


History: Jesse grew up in the system until he was adopted by Kenia and Freddy Bolster and they showered him with all the love he deserved. He was quite the trouble maker when he was younger, mostly because if the teachers think your stupid they wont mess with you and it made Jesse feel bad. One time he got into big trouble Freshmen year -- some Juniors dared him to steal the mascot statue for football initiation. So, Jesse being unable to resist the temptation did it and ended up doing it. They creeped into the school at dark and some of the other Juniors vandalized the place and Jesse stole the statue, but of course before he was home free security caught him and the other juniors ran. Jesse took the fall and had to pay tons of money, his parents were disappointed and let him deal with his wrong on his own.

Jesse searched for a job and Freddy being friends with Alexander Walter got Jesse a job at the Boatyard -- Rikki's dad's Boatyard --. Working in the boatyard helped Jesse a lot and he ended up seeing Rikki when she's come by. That's how Rikki and Jesse became friends and he even developed a little crush on her -- well little would be an understatement --. It's been 6 years and Jesse is still crushing on Rikki. 6 years and Rikki hasn't noticed, poor Jesse. He now works at the Café with Rikki and also the boatyard. His future plans would be to continue working at the boatyard for the rest of his life and be happy.

Power: Able to breathe underwater, and can control when his tail forms. (so he can swim with his legs if he desires, or change forms when close to the human world)

Personality: Reserved, Sarcastic, Flirty, Has No Time for BS

Bio: Caspian is the last known ancestor of the merman that sided with the mermaid pod many years ago, his parents dying when he was little. Caspian is the only known merman with the ability to form his tail at will; without the power of a potion. While he is allowed to be in either pod; due to his ancestor, he chooses to ignore them in favor in living a life on land. He works at his house as an author; occasionally going back to the pods when needed.

Personality: Lilian is sporty and adventurous. She enjoys having fun and making friends, but is also extremely dedicated to what she does, and therefore not a big partier because of how busy she often is. You will never find someone who works harder than her. She rarely complains and is good at adapting. Despite this she is also carefree in a way that borders on reckless.

Though not abrasive, Lil will always stand her ground. She generally does not let other people and there opinions get to her. She has no qualms about being disliked. She is funny but not silly, though she can be a bit cocky. She is not the most intelligent person, but she is street smart and quick on her feet.

History: Lil is the oldest of five siblings. Her father is quite the business man, and would often be away for a month or two at a time for work. So when Lilian's mother started to get early onset dementia, it was Lil who was left to take care of her siblings. From 12 on she did the cooking and the cleaning, she helped her siblings with homework and their hair. When her mother's condition worsened five years later, she finally lost it, but instead of begging her father to come home, she demanded it. And he listened.

Finally, with her father home to raise with own children, Lil was able to have some freedom. She worked hard and was able to get a soccer scholarship to university (the only way they could afford it). She moved away and never looked back, but visits often to see her siblings.

Personality: A little bit anti-social, loves reading, is very picky in the friends that he hangs with, sarcastic, not easy with trusting others.

History:

Taylor and Tyler grew up in a loving family. While Taylor was very social, Tyler wasn't. In their youth this didn't cause any problems. Of course, when their teens arrived their differences was even more obvious. While Taylor went out to party all night, Tyler stayed home to study. Eventually, Taylor dropped out of high school to pursue her dream to become a fashion designer while Tyler continued to study. At 20 it became clear to Taylor she really had to finish school to let her dream come true.

All his schooltime, Tyler got bullied quite a lot for being different than others. Right up to the point that she dropper out, Taylor was the one defending her twin brother. Especially when he came out of the closet. When he was left all alone in the school, things got worse. Tyler isn't mentally stable anymore and has quite some dark thoughts. But his sister tries her best to help him through it.

Tyler is currently in college and not sure what he wants to be. Taylor is currently doing a major in fashion while Tyler ended up in graphic design.

Other:

Tail: Her tail will be dark black with bright red scales going in a diagonal pattern. The end ends with the tips being red and a spiral pattern in jet black.

Personality: Impulsive, short tempered. Loves to be active, good sense of humour. Loves cooking and blunt.


History:

Erica Lasset was born and raised in the town of Aqua Bella. Naturally, she developed a love of the ocean and helped out with her father's fishing vessel from a young age. She had a decent childhood and had average grades at school. Her father gave her a part time job with his fishing business when she was 18 and since then, she has been working at the beachside kiosk. Along with aiding with the handling and selling of his seafood. Around the age of 20, she was hired by Ocean Cafe as a singer after the owners overheard her and has been performing a variety of songs there. From child friendly mermaid songs to evening tunes. She does it for fun and her friends seem to enjoy it. The 20% employee discount seems to be benefical. Life is good and it's a common joke that if she could, Erica would live in the ocean because of her sheer enjoyment of getting soaked. Usually, in her clothes.

Name: Regi 'Busted' Maci

Age: 29

Appearance: Regi is tall, well toned, with mismatched eyes, one an electric green the other a earthy brown, despite being handsome, his nose from being broken in the past hasn't healed correctly hence earning him the nickname of 'Busted'. Standing at 6.2, moderately built, short hair and clean shaven. Despite the nicks and old cuts from his work in deep sea contract work, he's fit. However from a recent accident leading to him experiencing serious narcosis, a vessel in his green eye burst. That along with his other conditions of general unease.

When on land, tends to wear a short sleeve button up shirt, hat, and wears a pair of rings around his neck and a pair of jeans when its cold and on most good days it usually in a pair of shorts. Something that he refers to as his own lucky charm.

Personality: Laid back, relaxed but observant. Under pressure he's prone to getting real serious and pushing himself beyond to get work done. A team player, a talker not a fighter - though when push comes to shove not afraid to break a few faces if confrontations arise.

Other: Will not touch alcohol.

History:
Before he joined up, he joined for the money to pay for his sisters chemotherapy and also provide for his family at home. Over the years the distance and long work grew too much, it wasn't until his final shift he was going to retire and go home. Sadly - his mother in law called to advise that due to a drunk driver, his wife of three years was killed in a head on collision due to a drunk driver during a Xmas period.
Not someone to ever touch a drop of alcohol, it threw the man back into his work mostly because it was all he really enjoyed and here was what family he had left. Signing back on, he hasn't really enjoyed being away from his team. Though recently during a routine - something kinked his air-supply line causing him to be flown out with severe Narcosis - resulting in him needing to take some serious rest and recovery before going back into the deep once more.

Name: Lui 'Dexter' Jurvan

Appearance:
Lui has jet back hair, short, a five o clock shadow on his face, and despite being 5'9 is still well toned in his build sporting two tattoos on his right arm. On days when he isnt on shift, while on the ship he tends to wear V neck shirts, shorts and enclosed shoes. Colder days he tends to wear a track pants and a fleecy jacket. His eyes are a sharp dark brown and has a piercing through his eyebrow.

Personality: Motivated, quiet, cautious and fearless. Takes allot to make this guy jump, rumour is he has the nerves of a fighter pilot.

Under it all he is a prankster, a go getter but also loves dogs, cats and even has a pet on board the ship known as Lady, a green cheek conure - who by her nature is a sweetheart and loves scritches.

History:
Despite being new to the crew, the term Dexter comes from his pair of glasses dark rimmed glasses he wears when off shift for reading, watching reddit or better, setting up elaborate pranks.
The crew has known him for a long time, despite being dedicated - he has on two occasions struggled with mental health and although he wears that smile and care free attitude - there are days where he needs to manage his depression. Doing his work - is something he enjoys and keeps that dark attitude at bay. Having raise his bird while on the ship, Lady, the conure has become a much loved part of the crew.



Other: Has a pet bird that is just as good if not better at pranking than he is.

Name: Lex 'Technical' Krizzl

Appearance:
Lex is a man who has had both his legs removed at the knees, despite sporting some burn scars and missing a pinky. He's dressed in a casual T shirt with either a witty comment 'No I will not fix your mistakes' etc.
Despite being smart, he's a man who served in war and came out of it missing pieces. His wheelchair is a carbon fibre, fitted also to include a pair of inflatable floaties should shit hit the literal fan. Despite having the use of his fingers, arms and two stumps for legs. Lex was - a average man, now having to use his arms more, the muscles are quite prominent. Wearing a pair of trousers with the ends cut and tied, both his hands are tattooed and on the inside of his forarm is his wifes name.



Personality:
Relaxed, sarcastic, witty and intelligent. Sure life was rough to him, but he loves his wife more than he loves his job. The fact that the crew needs him and he gets to work alongside his wife is perfect, sure they argue, but who doesn't. While he understands that he is wheelchair bound, he is happy to allow his wife to be in an open relationship and theirs despite some of the drawbacks still in this case hasn't changed anything.

Methodical, sharp as a tac and less hesitant than others he's a more quick to conclusions than mistakes kinda guy. Still, he loves his work and the free time that comes with it. You could say he's a party animal and outside of work loves mixing music.



History:
Discharged after a IED removed his legs from the knee down, his skills in electronic engineering, repair work was a lengthy record. So with not much to go off, he scored an interview and after impressing them with his aptitude and rather no fucks given, he was sent to a boat with was at first in dire need of his expertise. After proving his worth it was clear - after seven years he also scored the love of his life Maree . Happy - on both fronts and faithful. He also has a love / hate relationship with the bird on the boat because it has a habit of pulling all the keys off his keyboard and arranging it into horrible swearwords much to his disapproval.



Other:
Despite his attitude he endures his other ailments, PTSD quite well. Despite their being some bad and some good. He still misses his legs.

Appearance:
Sure she dresses like the men on this tub, but she's well toned, sharp grey stormy eyes - wearing a mixture of what gear she needs on hand. Mostly her mechanics get up when she needs to keep the engines running. When she's off shift, she tends to wear shorts - a shirt, either one she's borrowed from her husband Lex. Standing just under 5.6 - sporting a mixture of small scars on her hands and arms from work - that and a number of tattoos - typical for someone getting paid well for a good contract work.
A small hearing aid is on her left ear from a work accident a few years ago, something Lex still cant get over - mainly because he cares. Though for her, apart from the slight hearing loss hasn't stopped her working, enjoying time off and settling the odd brawl.

Personality:
Rough around the edges, but she's known to warming to those that actually put in the work. A real go getter, hard worker and exceptional at her skill as a ships mechanical and electrical engineer. Neither afraid to get her hands dirty, but also the same that she's got the streetsmarts.

History:
As a wife to Lex, she loves the man as much as he loves her. Originally from a more city based background and arrogant enough to kick out from the gender stereotyping, she's proven she has been known to give it just as good as she can deal with it. She could have become the next boxer, but instead wanted to travel, work hard and enjoy a career with her husband. While her family back home is taken care of- she's always been one for never staying in one place. Another job, another location. She also has a brother who back home runs a farm for free range chickens.

Other:
Wants a better hearing aid. Has been known to want to try diving but prefers to be above water than in the salt water. Mostly because - submersibles is what she likes.

In short - they've been contracted to an underwater high depths gas drill to an above surface soon to be towed in oil / Gas refinery rig.

Thing is something made that gas, and despite the fact that they are currently installing it and setting it up threatens a range of issues, displacing or lowering the gas which is under high pressure could cause tectonic shifts - Big Ol Volcanos.
The crew are contractors, they know their work and how good the pay is and for them despite the one accident where Regi should have died, he didn't because he was blown clear.
