Danielle Orpheus
↠ Nickname: Dani
↠ Gender: Woman
↠ Race: Half human, half fairy
↠ Occupation: Thief
↠ Age: 25
↠ Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
↠ Hair: White blonde
↠ Eyes: Blue/grey
↠ Physical appearance: 5'8 (172 cm), athletically built. She has silver wings that look similar to butterfly wings, but they're a lot more sturdy. She has a white scar that splits her left eyebrow and ends on her left cheek.
↠ Language(s): Common tongue
↠ Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
↠ Weapons: Small daggers and knives
↠ Religion: Goddess of Life/Mother Earth
↠ Magic Abilities:
-
Invisibility (applies only to herself and her clothing and can last up to an hour before the need to recharge arrises).
- Illussion (she can blind up to two people at a time with an illussion of her choice. If she chooses smaller illusions - some dirt on the ground that isn't really there, for instance - she can affect more people, though for a shorter amount of time.
- Teleportation (only over short distances).
↠ Family: She considers her coven of thieves her family. Her fairy father is alive, though she has no contact with him, and her human mother is dead.
↠ Strengths: Dani is clever and quick to work her way out of bad situations (which she's often put herself in). She's quick on her feet and has a well-developed sense of knowing where the nearest exit is. She's a skilled knife-thrower and works best in combat from afar - only up close if she can use her magic abilities to her advantage.
↠ Weaknesses: She's too good at running her mouth. She has a tendency to come off as provoking - and often chooses the worst time to test people. Although she has mastered her magic skills, they work with limitations (as listed above) and that can sometimes prove as a hindrance.
↠ Fears: She has a fear of getting too close to other people which she often hides behind her lack of seriousness and provocations. She's afraid of complete and utter darkness, it makes her feel claustrophobic.
↠ Personality: Dani is a matter-of-fact kind of girl. She doesn't take life too seriously and she prefers seeing things from a humoristic point of view (though, ironically, not on the bright side - her approach to life is mostly: "Nothing matters so we might as well have fun"). She doesn't judge anyone based on who they are or what they've done before she gets to know them. She's generous, though she prefers to hide that side of herself - but if she sees someone weaker and in poorer shape than herself, she will most often try to help them. She lives by a "take from the rich, give to the poor - as long as I'm taken care of first" kind of morality.
↠ Background: It's not that humans aren't allowed in the Glass City, they're not supposed to be able to find it in the first place. So it was a mystery how a young woman found herself there 26 years ago. It was an even greater mystery how a young fairy man of aristocratic birth ended up with her. Their affair was short-lived, however, for when he discovered that the human was pregnant, he left her. She stayed in the fairy city even though she was an outcast because she hoped that her baby girl would have a better chance there than amongst her own kind - because her baby was born with wings and pointed ears.
Dani and her human mother didn't have much, but her mother was a weaver and they made due. Her mother got sick when Dani was only 13, so she learned to take care of them as a pocket thief. She put bread on the table for her and her mother for two years while she perfected her pick-pocketing skills. Then her mother died. With almost no knowledge of her father other than the fact that he allegedly wanted nothing to do with her, Dani was left alone at 15. However, she quickly learned that she wasn't the only orphan in the city - and she was already the best thief amongst them. She learned to master her magic abilities and use them for thieving. For the first time she wasn't looked down on from being a half-fairy, because among the orphans no one cared where you came from, and Dani took the leadership in her new family by choice. A friend in her group taught her knife throwing and she spent years learning to perfect the skill - it was, after all, rather useful when she was running away from someone she'd robbed.
As the group of young thieves grew up, they gradually took on bigger jobs; robbing carts, then homes, then stores, then banks. They expanded their work to other places than their home city and became known and feared for their work - outsmarting bounty hunters and escaping the law. Occasionally one of them were caught, but no one ever caught Dani, though one person did come close once and scarred her face.
She dreams of one day having enough money to retire and only pick-pocket every once in a while for the fun of it.

Evera
↠ Nickname: Evy
↠ Gender: Woman
↠ Race: Forest Fairy
↠ Occupation: Thief
↠ Age: 30
↠ Hair: Red
↠ Eyes: Green
↠ Physical appearance: 5'11 (180 cm). She has a scar that runs from her right cheekbone and ends by her upper lip. She has pointed, pierced ears, black tattoos and two great scars on her back where her wings used to be.
↠ Language(s): Common, elvish
↠ Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
↠ Weapons: Bow and arrows, long daggers
↠ Religion: Undecided
↠ Magic Abilities:
- Ability to form wood with her magic.
- Ability to call upon the roots of the forest.
- Healing if in contact with nature (especially trees).
↠ Family: Unknown siblings scattered who knows where.
↠ Strengths: Good aim and speed with a bow and arrow. Quick on her feet. Able to navigate by looking at the stars. Good swimmer. Tracking.
↠ Weaknesses: Permanent back pain from scars on her back that healed awkwardly can hinder her mobility, especially in hand to hand combat.
↠ Fears: Afraid of fire (not general, small fires, but, for instance, if a building is on fire). Fear of abandonment.
↠ Personality: Evera is a distrusting person. She assumes the worst of people until proven otherwise. She's loyal once someone has proven to her that they're worth her loyalty. She's a natural leader and shyes away from authority and taking orders. She's not the first to make a snarky comment, and she rarely starts fights, but she will finish them. She puts on a hard-ass facade, but she is a dreamer who yearns for the stars. She dreams of one day being able to afford her own ship, gather a crew and set off into the world, living day to day on her own premises instead of living hour by hour until the next time money rolls in.
↠ Background: Evera grew up in a small forest fairy town with more siblings than she could count and men walking in and out of the door while her mother slowly faded away. As one of the oldest, she took responsibility for her younger siblings until she was 10. That was the year that half of her town burned down, including the hut that she grew up in. Her mother died in the fire, and the children were shipped off to different orphanages.
Evera was 15 when one of her many attempts of fleeing her orphanage succeeded, and she set off into the world, leaving the forest behind. She met mostly welcoming people on her journey to a bigger city, but once she left the roads behind and entered an actual city, she discovered that she was at the bottom of the food chain. She started stealing to get by and learned to fend for herself in the streets, living hour by hour.
For five years, she managed to get by until the night she stole from the wrong people; the three grown men who she thought were sleeping attacked her as she tried to get away with their money. They beat her half to death and cut off her wings. 20 years old, she was left to bleed out in an ally. She was spotted by a younger fairy, Dani, who led and trained a group of young thieves. They patched her up as well as they could, but she was left scarred and broken. For the next ten years, she stuck by her chosen family of thieves until their leader left them to make her luck elsewhere. Some in the gang stuck together, but Evera went off on her own, hoping to make her fortune in another place.

Raven Tempest
↠ Nickname: Loon (derogatory)
↠ Gender: Woman
↠ Race: Human/witch
↠ Occupation: Witch
↠ Age: 24
↠ Hair: Black
↠ Eyes: Green
↠ Physical appearance: 5'5 (165 cm). Black tattoos on both arms and legs. Pierced ears and a golden nose ring.
↠ Language(s): Common, ancient Greek.
↠ Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
↠ Weapons: A sturdy wooden staff with a golden orb at the end that can enhance her magic.
↠ Religion: Greek mythology (worshipper of Hecate)
↠ Familiar: A screech owl named Cerberus.
↠ Magic Abilities: If she knows the right spells (and executes them correctly), she can wield magic as well as her powers allow her to.
- Spirit Connect: She can contact spirits, often involuntarily. She has the ability to manifest in a physical form for a short amount of time, but she hasn't mastered it yet.
- Familiar Connection: She can connect to her familiar, a screech owl, and can see through his eyes and communicate with him.
↠ Family: Both of her parents, her older sister, many aunts, uncles and cousins.
↠ Strengths: Magic. Her powers are enhanced during the night and in places where many people died. She knows how to identify plants and herbs almost anywhere she goes.
↠ Weaknesses: Physical, not very strong or fast. Clumsy. Unsuccessful with her spells.
↠ Fears: Never succeeding as a witch.
↠ Personality: Raven sees the best in everyone, sometimes to a point of naivity. Since she sees the dead and has mostly good experiences with them, she figures that the living can't be half-bad either. She has a sense of self-irony based on her own clumsiness - both physically and magically - and fully believes that nothing is so bad that it can't be cured with a nice, steaming cup of tea. She's more of a lover than a fighter, but she's also stubborn and willful, not the type to give up.
↠ Background: Raven comes from a long line of talented and highly esteemed witches and warlocks. Her older sister was a natural at magic from the moment she was able to pronounce spells correctly. When Raven was born, the same was expected of her, but she was born without a birthmark - a witches' mark. As a child, she was odd and introverted, often talking to herself and not engaging in play or practice with the other young witches and warlocks. When her training began, she showed no sign of any magic abilities. It wasn't until she was older than the other children that her magic finally showed itself - and failed.
She was as clumsy physically as she was with her magic. If there was a bottled potion nearby, you could trust her to drop it. If there was a spell to pronounce, you could trust her to pronounce it wrong and make an entirely different spell. Her coven started calling her Loon instead of Raven - for she was, indeed, a clumsy bird.
Raven didn't pay much attention to her teasing or failure, though. From an outside point of view, she was isolated and alone, but from her own point of view, she had many friends - the spirits she had been seeing since before she learned to talk. They were always around her, and some of them became her friends, mentors and guides. They would encourage her every time she failed, and she listened more to them than any of the living people around her.
When she was ten, she met her familiar in a witch cemetary, sitting on top of a new gravestone with a hanging head. Talking to the spirit of the newly dead, she discovered that the screech owl had been the familiar of an old witch who had lived alone in the forest. She offered him her arm, renamed him Cerberus and offered him a new life as her familiar which he accepted.
She still struggles with getting spells right, but hasn't given up on becoming good at her craft. Ironcally, she's a great cook - as long as magic isn't involved, she always makes the best cup of tea and the most tasteful, hearty meals.

↠ Physical appearance: 6 feet (183 cm). Horns that curl backwards away from her face, decorated with silver and gems. Tattoos on her back and stomach. Sharp canines and pointed, sharp nails.
↠ Language(s): The common tongues of demons, men and elves.
↠ Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

- Pyrokineses: Creating and controlling fire with her mind.
- The rest of her abilities are otherwise unknown to her.
↠ Family: Alkinara (mother) and Lord Kellmar (father).
↠ Strengths:
- Swordfight.
- Magic abilities.
- Psychic abilities towards weaker minds (inducing terror and fear).
↠ Weaknesses:
- Allergic to iron: It will burn her skin and she cannot enter a house if there is iron above the door or under the doormat.
- Lacks the full control of her magic powers and has not discovered the full extend of them.
- Cannot swim.
↠ Fears: Iron. Deep, running water. Suffering the fate that her father has planned for her.
↠ Personality: Cal is willful, stubborn and ambitious. She has high expectations of herself and doesn't do anything halfway. She has a dark, sarcastic sense of humor. She often puts on a harsh facade, but her anger covers up the sadness deep in her heart.
↠ Background: Cal grew up wealthy, but not in a high position in spite of her last name. The Demon Lord Kellmar had a wife who did not bear him children, and desiring an heir, The daughter of another Demon Lord, Alkinara, became Kellnar's courtesan. He promised her that any child she bore him would be granted his name. After years of trying and failing to bear him a child, Alkinara finally succeeded - and gave birth to a girl. In spite of the proof that the courtesan was fertile, she never had another child, and the Demon Lord remained without a son and heir.
Caladina was loved by her mother with whom she grew up in private quarters of Kellmar's palace, but she was despised by her father. Her only friends as a child were the servants' children.
Her father allowed her to receive combat- and magic training, but had other plans for her than the path of a warror or magician. On her hundredth birthday, the year that she officially came of age, he came to see her. He told her that though she had disappointed him by not being a qualified heir, at least she had grown to be beautiful, and perhaps she would have better luck than her mother and be able to carry sons; she was to begin her training as a courtesan. His plan was to send her off to another Demon Lord in five years.
Cal had no wish to become a courtesan. She wanted to be a warrior, and her deepest, most secret desire was to become the first Demon Lady of her realm, taking over after - or overturning - her father.
However, as she had nowhere to run, and time was running out, Cal was running out of options. How would she escape suffering the same fate as her mother?

Leala.jpg
Leala
↠ Gender: Woman
↠ Race: Shapeshifter (Feline)
↠ Age: 26
↠ Hair: Golden/red/strawberry blonde
↠ Eyes: Golden brown
↠ Physical appearance: 5'7 (170 cm). Athletical build.
↠ Language(s): Common
↠ Sexual Orientation: Bisexual
↠ Weapons: A long dagger and a short knife strapped to each of her thighs. A longsword.
↠ Religion: Spiritual (a believer in Mother Earth).
↠ Magic Abilities:
  • The ability to shapeshift into a cat.
↠ Family: No living relatives. Her father was the King of Iastos' younger brother.
↠ Strengths: Enhanced senses and reflexes. Sword skills. Sharp, almost claw-like nails that she can extend and extract without shifting forms.
↠ Weaknesses: No magical abilities besides shapeshifting. A temper that tends to get her in trouble.
↠ Fears: Never connecting to her magic. Never gaining the ability to shapeshift into a larger feline creature.
↠ Background: Lea's parents both died in an accident when she was very young. She was raised by foster parents, friends of the family who had never been able to have children. Though her uncle was the King of Iastos, she grew up far from the capital and life at court. Her life was at an estate in the country full of freedom to roam as there was no danger here.

The kingdom of Iastos had been ruled by a line of feline shapeshifters for many generations. The King and Queen were lion shifters. Ruling a land of trade and full of all sorts of creatures, the King had a reputation for being both very rich and corrupt. It was rumored that half of the treasury was gained due to the black market in the capital. In spite of this society which was designed for anyone to climb the hierachal ladders - were they willing to either put in the work or lie and cheat their way up - humans had always been at the bottom - due to them having no magic.

So, a human rebellion started brewing. Not just to fight for their rights, but to fight for their right to magic. A secret society had been growing in the shadows; a society of human Mages, Witches and Warlocks. The different covens banded together to usurp the throne - placing a human king on it instead. The new king was from the Mages of the Moon, a branch of Dark Magicians who gathered their power at night.

The royal family were all hunted down and killed in the nightly rebellions. The only feline shape shifters left in Iastos were the ones who could prove that they had not been related by blood to the former royal line in any way; and most were, distant as they may be, so there were not many left now.

The hierachy shifted as the power did; and shape shifters of all kind ended on the bottom.

However, one heir to the throne was overlooked since she had been raised so far from the eyes of the public; and when the Mages realized their mistake, Lea had long since fled.

Rayna Blackwing

↠ Gender: Woman

↠ Race: Witch (and Medium)

↠ Age: 28

↠ Hair: Black

↠ Eyes: Grey

↠ Physical appearance: 5'9 (175 cm).

↠ Weapons: A long dagger which she carries in her belt.

↠ Religion: Spiritual - believer in the Life Cycle. Her coven worships Death as it is the symbol of a Cycle completed.

↠ Magic Abilities:
  • Dark Magic (stronger magic at night, moon rituals).
  • Being a medium.
↠ Family: Parents and five younger siblings (two sisters and three brothers). Many aunts, uncles and cousins. One twin sister (deceased).

↠ Strengths:
  • Loyalty.
  • A natural attunement with the Other Side, giving her access to more magical power if she taps into it (which she cannot do without risk).
↠ Weaknesses:
  • She has yet to learn to question the authority and the teachings she has grown up with.
  • She can get quite overwhelmed by the voices and sightings of the Dead.
  • If she taps too deeply into the power from the Other Side, she's at risk of being stuck there and never returning to the living.
↠ Fears: Losing her mind. Wandering too far Beyond.

↠ Background: Rayna and her twin sister, Dalya, were the firstborn daughters of the Crescent Coven leader, Silia Blackwing. Rayna and her sister were taught to put their Coven and family above all, no matter the sacrifice. When she and her twin sister were initiated as grown Witches at the age of 20, this led to Rayna becoming a Medium.

The Crescent Coven's magic had been dwindling for years. For generations they had been one of the most powerful forces in the land and now they had to fight to not lose access to their magic. Silia Blackwater decided that the best solution was to open a portal to the Other Side so the coven would be able to freely commune with their ancestors without seancing to do so, as well as gain the ability to tap into their power. To do this, a Medium was needed. Silia bid her eldest daughters to undertake this task. Rayna and Dalya did not question their mother.

The price for becoming a Medium was another life, which Rayna and her sister did not know until the ritual was already underway. Their mother had decided that Rayna, having been born a few minutes before Dalya, would be the one to live, Dalya the one to die. And so it was that the first spirit Rayna saw was her twin sister.

This "gift", as the Coven Leader called it, did not come without complications, either, as Rayna never found a way to turn it off. Since then she had always been able to hear and see the Dead, and not just her own ancestors. She tended to avoid graveyards since they were filled with too many spirits.

She did discover that her connection to the Other Side enabled her to draw magical power from it, but she had since learned to be very careful with this. Once, upon her mother's request, she almost lost her life trying to perform a healing spell that demanded too much power.

The Crescent Coven had kept Rayna's abilities and the truth of her sister's death a secret from anyone outside the coven ever since.

Rayna has a familiar, a crow by the name of Bronach.

Sigrún Bjǫrnsdóttir
↠ Nickname: Sigga

↠ Gender: Woman

↠ Race: Vampire

↠ Age: Less than a millennium old (probably). She was turned in her early 20s.

↠ Hair: Ginger/red

↠ Eyes: Grey/silver

↠ Physical appearance: 5'5 (165 cm). Curvy with an hourglass figure.

↠ Language(s): Old Norse, Common

↠ Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

↠ Family: Her younger sister, Astrid, who she turned into a vampire.

↠ Strengths:
  • Strength.
  • Speed.
  • Fangs.
↠ Weaknesses:
  • The sunlight if she does not wear a protective/enchanted device.
  • If she feeds from a person who has a blood disease of some kind, this can weaken her temporarily.
  • A wooden stake to the heart would kill her.
  • She has to be invited into a home by a human to enter.
↠ Fears: Surviving even the implosion of Earth itself.

↠ Background: Sigrún grew up in a village in the Viking Age of the North. She was becoming an old maid in her early twenties, refusing to marry for anything but love. Her father, Bjǫrn, had plans for his two daughters to marry for alliances and was about to force this plan into motion. It was an unexpected and unwelcome road to salvation for Sigrún when a stranger turned up one night, asking for a place to sleep. Her mother let the stranger into their home and before she'd said any more, he snapped her neck and began sucking her blood. Too stunned to react before he threw the bloody corpse on the floor, Sigrún and her sister faced the draugr, as they thought of him as. As he pounced on Sigrún and sunk his teeth into her neck, her father attacked from behind with his sword. It was a valiant fight in spite of the monster's strength, but eventually the vampire broke the sword into pieces, one of which struck deep into Bjǫrn's chest, killing him. As the draugr turned to the young Astrid, Sigrún made one desperate attempt: she grabbed her father's wooden spear and drove it through the beast's heart from behind. The spear worked as a wooden stake and the vampire was slain. Having been bitten, Sigrún's transition into a vampire begun. Realizing what she was becoming, she fled - but her sister followed her and tracked her down. Driven mad with hunger and blood lust, Sigrún bit Astrid. She managed to stop herself before killing her, but the blood finished her transition - and the fresh venom in her fangs turned her sister into a vampire, too.

Near a millennia had passed since then. The sisters had lived through wars and famine, lived through eternal night until they gained access to necklaces that could protect them from the sunlight. Sometimes they walked the Earth together, other times alone. Occasionally they met other immortals, which they preferred; they quickly learned that human lives passed them by in the blink of an eye.

Sigrún dedicated her life to learning and creating - first to art, later to science as it developed. Every few years she changed her location and her name, never letting herself be discovered - or truly known.
