Hello everyone! I'm Renval and I'm pretty stoked to be here. This is a little strange for me – I haven't been active on forums for a long while, but ever since my last "home" tapered off I've felt this need to resurface.
I've been roleplaying on and off for the past ten years. I started on a massive site with a very small roleplaying community –
they had a lot of rules and restrictions about what could and could not be played. I eventually left them and found the aforementioned "home" site. It was a much smaller, more liberal community; it was easier to explore the things I wanted to in my writing and I had great fun for about six years until people started to leave.
I've tried a little bit of everything genre-wise. Nothing really stands out too much, but I tend to prefer original ideas as compared to roleplays set in a pre-established universe based on an anime/book/tv show/etc. When it comes to GMing roleplays,
I really like a statistical set up with a grid (think Final Fantasy Tactics/Fire Emblem) with the story woven through the battles. I used to want to make video games in this style, so I guess it makes a lot of sense that I like it as much. XP
I used to just write for fun. Now that I'm finishing college, it's become my career as well. I took roleplaying and started writing for the theatre and for television. While I've not written anything that's been produced yet, I imagine I'll get there soon! When I'm not writing, I enjoy cooking (mostly baking, honestly), composing, and playing the piano. I also direct shows and sometimes do scenic art for theatre.
I'm really excited to be here and cannot wait to see what's in store!
